  • Good value for the first year. After that, $395 per year without any other perks is not so great.

    • Yep it’s a burner for sure haha!

      • Whats a burner? I'm pretty new to all this

        • It’s pretty much where you sign up to the card, spend the minimum, get the bonus points, then cancel.

FWIW, I’ve done it a few times through AMEX and NAB and at no point did it stop me getting a home loan if you’re worried about your credit rating.

Generally you are excluded for 12-18 months or so, so if you are real keen you need to whore yourself out to pretty much every credit provider to continually do it.

          • @Pelicannn: Makes sense, so you sign up with NAB, get the points and then cancel. Now you're excluded from NAB for 12-18months so you sign up with Westpac.. rinse and repeat for 12-18 months and restart? Is there anything else to the strategy? Is there ever a time where you wouldn't cancel a card? I'm pretty new to all this so appreciate any advice. Maybe if you can answer in the below link that would be awesome as there's another person who's also keen to know. Cheers! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/622212

@Pelicannn: Hi Tosh - can I ask how you got this offer? I can’t see it on the NAB site and the terms and conditions makes me wonder if it’s targeted?

            I’m referring to this content:
“This offer only applies to personal credit card applications made by existing pre-assessed NAB customers and is not transferable to another individual.”

I don’t want to get knocked back from NAB when it comes to getting the points. I’ve been churning for years and the knocked me back one other time - I got the points eventually but it was a huge hassle.

I applied the same card but different card today.

100,000 Qantas FF Points on NAB Signature Rewards Card ($3,000 Spend in 60 Days, $195 Fee 1st Year)

    Which one is better?

    • 20,000 FF points is arguably worth more than $100 if you’re spending it on reward flights. Up to you I guess.

Minimum limit might also be different for both so make sure you look into that.

    • $100 extra for 20k points extra. Not the best value but still in front on redeeming.

  • This is the best NAB deal I've seen in ages, normally they have the BS 90k points and then 30k after you pay a second annual fee.

    Definitely a decent churner here.

ANZ is slightly better with their 120k for $225 though. ($425 less $200 credit)

ANZ is a nightmare and puts many people through stressful loops for no reason. Much discussion of this on many posts.

      • +3

Many but certainly not always. My last application went smoothly. The one before that was more annoying but even then wasn't particularly difficult.

No way I'd consider NAB when the ANZ offer gives the same amount of points for less cost and includes two lounge passes.

        • I've had 3 ANZ cards in the last 18 months all super fast and easy process, guess I'm one of the lucky ones.
Those 2 lounge passes for sure make it a more attractive deal for me

      • 100% agree. I can’t say it better. In saying that, I’ll still do business with them, I just demand more as a ‘stress premium’ to compensate.

      • Never had an issue with ANZ. Find they offer the best deals with the least hassles for churning bonus point CC's.

        • Six pages of complaints here since 1 April only.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/614545

          • @Yola: Lol, mostly not complaints. People whinge about rejections on all these kinds of deals. I've never been rejected once: 2-3 cards with about 8 different banks, including ANZ.

            • @Viper8: My husband was not rejected but after 4 months we got sick of providing documents. Annual income over $250k but they could not understand why some of it was only paid every 3 months (it was a bonus). Even without it income above $150K. Supplied 12 months of paychecks, ATO statement but wanted proof of share investments. No mortgage on own home and investment property with a low mortgage. Anything out of the ordinary they cannot cope with. The call center in India staff do not understand our financial system. I think someone else had a similar story. If your situation is at all unusual do not apply and waste a credit check.

              • @Yola: Yea, sounds like an imperfect credit rating combined with not paying off each statement in full, resulting in the banks understandably applying more scrutiny than with someone like myself.

                • @Viper8: Where did you get that from. Excellent credit rating and always pay bills on time. I hope you are being sarcastic rather than insulting.

                  • +1

@Yola: My mistake, mis-read your irregular income as irregular payments.
No idea, just bizarre that it seems to happen often to some and never to others.

      • I've taken out 3 ANZ cards in the past 2 years. The initial one from 2-years ago, dragged on for months before I ended the the saga - they kept asking for more evidence of this and that - but the subsequent two have been much easier. YMMV.

        • Yes that is exactly the same.

  • Has anybody here tried getting the annual fee waived by linking it to an existing home loan?

    • +2

From memory wait til you get the bonus points then advise your card should have been added to the home loan package and get it refunded

      • ahh yess! Sounds like a solid plan to make sure the points are kept. Thanks for this! Will do it this way

        • Yeah I did the same thing with a previous offer, even got the bonus points in the 2nd year too despite not paying the card fee.

          • @vawiyoci: Anyone aware of what number they called and what department they spoke to when requesting this? Did they say "this should have been a no fee card?"and that is it or did it require more than that?

            Some direction would be helpful.

            Thanks in advance.

      • Can I ask why I shouldn't add the card to my home loan package when I apply? Wouldn't you get the bonus point's either way?

        • +2

Some have said they were denied of the bonus QFF points when linked straight away so I guess better to secure the points first then ask for the annual fee to be refunded back.

    • did this, but didnt follow below.. and asked them to link it.

I've done this 2 years ago, and it got counted, so hopefully it works this time as well.

  • Guess they cut back on the usual two qantas lounge invitations .

  • ANZ recently had a deal for $0 annual fee (first year)… that was a better deal IMO

  • Ooof 60 days to spend $3k

    • It breaks my heart knowing this is so easily done in our household.

Wife refuses 2 minute noodles, even when I offer my half of the seasoning pack…

      • Bahaha

  • Clicked on the link to the application page/form and it's showing a blank (form not loading).

    Anyone else experiencing this ?
Has the offer expired already ?

When I go to the homepage, they've only got the 120k NAB Rewards Points offer (not Qantas Points) Link

    • Link above works fine for me

    • Still working for me too. Try a different browser perhaps :)

    • Thank you both, it's working now.

      Same computer/browser.
      Must have been their end.

Will apply later today, how long is the standard turnaround time for approval ?

  • Getting unexpected error at different stages of the application, whether after logging in to confirm myself as an existing customer and also after filling in contact details.
"An unexpected error has occurred. We're unable to process your application at this time."
Is this one of those offers that are limited to certain people or tied to some promotion?

    • Just tried it again and completed the application without an issue and was approved this time. I guess their application website is just a bit wonky?

  • +2

Applied last night, approved this morning. Got an email saying the card will arrive next week!

    • So much better than the rigmarole from ANZ.

    • No calls from nab?

      • No

  • +1

One thing to note that when i took out this about 6 months ago the annual fee ($295) was pro-rated. So when i cancelled the card after 5 months i received a refund of roughly half the annual fee.

Was a pleasant surprise unlike everyone else who just takes it.

    • Did you cancel over the phone or online?

      • Canceled it over the phone as the online cancellation service was down at the time.

        • How did you receive the refund? Cheque just arrived one day in the mail?

          • @JHoliday: They asked for a bank account to deposit it into.

  • When does this deal end?

    • 3rd June

      • Thanks! will apply monday, gotta cancel my other CC first

  • I am not able to logon using NAB account. Is this deal expired?

    • I have the same issue.

  • +2

    offer not expired yet

  • Anyone else get the annual fee pro rated as a refund when they cancelled?

      • Yes that is why I am trying to find out if anyone else was lucky enough to have this happen or if it was just a one of gesture for this user.

        • +1

I did receive pro-rata refund in January when I cancelled. Ended up paying only $97 for 90k points then.

  • How long does it take for the points to be deposited after reaching 3k minimum spend ?

    • Have you reached it yet? I'm on my second month now and still waiting.

      • I have reached it 3k but on my statement I've earned 0 qantas points

        • Wait really?! I remember I've got this card on the 15th May, met the minimum spend on 17th May, points credited on 25th May and closed account on 26th. Was the fastest points credit I've ever seen.

  • +1

Fyi, you can call them to cancel the card after you get points and get pro-rata annual fee refund. Did this in January this year.

  • +1

I had this credit card approved today. How I will know they will deposit the 120k Qantas as soon I spend $3k and not 90k and the remaining 30k after 12 months ?

Did you guys the apply recently got the 120k points ?

    • +1

I got the 120k based on the promo. My housemate also apply after the deal was marked expired so will update.

  • +2

The deal link still works, and the weird thing is that the T&C's mention that you need to need to apply by the "offer end date" but absolutely nowhere on the page is it mentioned what this offer end date is. I think I will roll the dice and take a million screenshots.

    • I was tempted, but I gave NAB a call on 26 June, and they advised that the campaign code NNA has expired. They advised that I could attempt to apply but would likely be contacted and advised of the current promotion before proceeding with my application.

If you have applied, could you please provide an update on how you go? It might convince me to apply.

      • +2

Yep applied and got approved within 3 hours. No phone call, nothing. Really weird because I applied for the same card last year and it was such a stuff around. Took weeks. Had to chase down a letter saying that I had closed another card and had to fill out a more detailed expenses table and email it in.

I applied because it is minimum 90k Qantas points worst case, although I will fight for the 120k. I hope to have this churned and closed within a month and get 11/12ths of the annual fee back.

  • +1

Highly recommend this card. Got the bonus points in the same billing cycle and had the pro-rata annual fee refunded! Very impressive NAB!

    • +1

How did they process the refund? Send you a cheque?

      • Nah they ask for your bank details.

    • Yep my points just landed too. This may be my personal best - applied, approved, spent minimum, points landed and card closed, within 3 weeks.

I haven't actually closed yet. Will call tomorrow. I may avoid the annual fee altogether (as I did for St George and Citibank).

  • +1

    Got the points, thanks OP.

Any other good deals for QFF points? Not sure which card to apply for next.

  • +2

got the points today on my 2nd statement

  • i closed my card last week, how soon after closure do you receive the annual fee refund?

    • Did they take your bank account details over the phone when you cancelled?

      • i did it over chat and they took my account details and confirmed they will refund.. maybe i need to chase it up..

    • I called to cancel yesterday and today I check my account I have 270.43 in credit :) awesome deal

  • I had this card open for about 3 weeks total and I got a full refund of the annual fee.
