Does it come with a ring sizer?

    • +3

Do the ring sizers come with a legion gaming laptop?

  • +1

I need laptop for everyday use (I am a heavy excel users, multiple excel worksheets).
Is this laptop overkill for my usage?

    • +5

      Yes

    • +6

yes, but look at it this way

a well built laptop for processing excel spreadsheets will set you back $1000 if not more

for just a few more dollars you get something that can process spreadsheets and game

I would get this if I were you

      • +2

Yes if it's just going to sit on a desk. If you want something portable then find a 14" notebook with 16 GB RAM and Ryzen 7 4800u

      • +1

Be VERY AWARE that the battery on this might not be up to your standard. While there is nothing wrong with "overkill" in performance, that overkill will take a toll on the battery and weight.

Consider this if its important to you.

    • +2

Maybe a little, but it's worth it in the long run

    • +1

Wait for gen2 thinkpads with amd 5000 series cpu. Should be out by end of month.

They won't be cheaper, but will be better built, thinner (no gaming gpu) and faster

    • +1

I'm going to go against the grain and say no. The more CPU and ram the better for excel.

      • -1

I'm going to say yes, got the idea5 5500u with 16gb ips 1080p touch screen for $920 amazon. Not gonna lie the 1650ti probs demolishes that in gaming, but the 5500u is no slouch. 15% or so better than the 4600u i think is what it's at realistically.

    • It depends how many cell of excel you are using.

If you need to switch from excel to access your might need more ram.

  • +1

The 16gb serves you really well - especially if you do video conferencing with microsoft teams / zoom too

  • Joke already said

  • -1

This is not a deal as it doesn't come with a ring sizer ?

    • +2

Did you try to make a joke about ring sizer or you genuinely believe Lenovo is bad?

  • +2

As noted by Samowol, this model ships with the 45% NTSC 120 hz panel (covers like 60% sRGB after calibration). Also no FreeSync/G-Sync. https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/Legion/Lenovo_Legion_5_15ARH…

Great price for the chassis (one of the best-reviewed of 2020), but the display will be a dealbreaker for some.

    • Wonder how much it would cost to swap the screen to the new 2K 165HZ yourself.

      • Too much

      • LOL, you think this is lego?

        • +1

Mate, the new legion has the same 15. 6 inch screen but with much better spec as i mentioned before. So it's possible they are compatible. A screen replacement goes for around 150 aud on aliexpress.

          • +1

@johnttt: Ah, I had no idea. You just order a compatible (for this model? does it look the same?) screen and swap it in? Is it something a normal person can do or do you give it to your local computer store?

    • Yeah it's a good point, tbh, if you're really into colour correction you should probably have a dedicated monitor, maybe a really expensive laptop will have 99% sRGB and 70%+ aRGB (or the other way around whatever), but as a laptop that you aren't taking with you everywhere all the time on long walking trips, it's probably fine.

    C-C-C-Combo Breaker!!

I accidentally upvoted this while I was mindlessly upvoting all the ring sizer deals, but still, nice deal OP.

Does anyone know if this is a good deal?

  • Is this one good value for $199? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/294162763640

    • +1

I saw that listing, seller most likely put up a false listing / scam.
It has been deleted but it was for a Dell 15 3505 with ryzen 5 3450u, 8gb ram and 256gb ssd.
For $199 too good to be true.

  • I'm looking for something for video and photo editing, will this laptop be good enough?

  • Is the storage upgradable?

  • How many cores does this have??

    • Processor Count 6

  • 1650ti means me no buy

This is not a present day gaming card, it's already far outdated.
I wouldn't buy if you plan on keeping the laptop long term.

    • If someone is considering this as a gaming laptop for a long time, yeah probably. As a general Laptop GPU though, it's fine.

  • anyone know what is the warranty on these laptops ? When buying direct from Lenovo website, they allow you to customise the time (1 / 2 / 3 years etc.) and quality ( depot / onsite / premium onsite).

but on this Amazon page I can't find any mention.

    cheers

  • 16 GB DDR7 Ram

    Did I miss something?

  • I want to edit my travel videos on Premiere. Will this perform well?
