Surely the $599 S20 FE 5G deal was better than this?

    • It is expired now, but yes it was a better deal if you managed to get the $150 and $50 codes. The mega thread is swarmed with demand and no supply for the $50 code. Plus, for any warranty issues, you can walk into store and get a replacement.

      • +1

Having just bought the S20 FE 5G on that deal I can confirm, spend an hour messing around trying to get codes and the repair or refund process for issues from what I have heard seem to be a pain on the samsung store.

        • +4

I had my Tab S4 fixed by đelivery. It was painless. Just needed to go online and register. Free shipping completely.

    • This is 4G version, so of course.

    • Get S21 instead of this. For $450 :)

      • Don't you have to trade in for that price?

        • No need to send in your phone. All you need is the trade in code.

Very easy to do. Use one of your friends or family phone. It takes like 5 mins to get the code.

          • +1

@Xantar: But won't they want you to send your phone in?

            • -7

@reloxation: They do, and they will charge your credit card for the amount that your phone worth.
They won't charge you for the $400 bonus, so it's free money.

              • +1

@Xantar: they might when they catch on

              • +1

@Xantar: Plus you need an eligible phone to run that app.

              • +1

@Xantar: Not sure why all the negs but I am in that boat at the moment. Waiting for Asurion to confirm that they will only charge me the phone trade-up value only.

I have sent them an email on Thu May 13 (3 days ago) and still they have not replied to me to confirm that.

                • @rbaraz: Who did you contact at Asurion? I got the email from a noreply Asurion email.

          • -2

@Xantar: Can someone enlighten me more on this - I've got a Note 9, which says $380 I think… but the screen is a little cracked, instantly $0.

Can I somehow get this $380 without actually sending the phone somewhere?

    Snapdragons much better then exypos

  • +1

Reviews say exynos improved on s21.

    • +1

It's improved but still not up to SD 888, at most it's competing with SD 865+ which is a year older.

      • S21 Exynos is faster than the s20 FE snapdragon but its a very small difference, especially considering it is a year older.

        • +2

Yes, a bit faster but also not as energy efficient and will drain battery more quickly, especially in surfing web and calling time. And considering the SD 865+ in ASUS ROG 3 is faster than S21 Exynos, not something to brag about either since Qualcomm also release SD 870 which is an even more OC version of SD 865.

      • -4

Wow so much rubbish in one sentence. Exynos is on par with 888 and is better in some things. Is alot better than 865+ also. 2100 is a beast this year compared to the old 990.

        • +8

          On par?
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsLJLk3nx8k

Slower and especially much slower after 5 consecutive test because it get much hotter and severely throttled, even camera processing is not as good. Same old story.

          • @Bigboomboom: I also watched aarons video..and still pulled the trigger as that violet colour looks gorgeous.

    • +2

Isn't that the Exynos version though?

EDIT: model number confirms it is indeed the Exynos version

    • -2

      Also, 4G… why?

      • +1

This one is 4 G as well

  • +3

For anyone interested in using two SIM cards. This phone does not have dual SIM slots, nor does it support e-sim!
Was gonna get it for $599 but luckily I checked.

    • Outta curious, does sd865 5g version support e sim? Im waiting Telstra to enable e sim.

      • No.
That's the version I've been referring to.

  • +6

Been using mine for a few days since I grabbed it for $599. It's a fantastic phone. Very quick and speedy

    • +1

      And the battery!

    • +3

At this price I am almost convinced to not get my wife an iPhone SE.

      • Almost half the size lol.

  • +4

Touch issues also fixed with this one?

    • +2

Haven't noticed any in my experience

    • +6

It's touch and go as to whether you'll have issues or not. I'm one of the ones with no issues. YMMV

  • This or the s21 ultra for 1049? Really can't pick between the two.

    • Go for S21 Ultra.. It's one of the best flagships out there, may be 2nd to iPhone 12 Pro Max..
But be mindful of the weight and large size of the phone

      • +1

        Thanks mate, appreciate the reply

    • s21 ultra for 1049

From where? Did I miss this deal?

  • This or Pixel 5 for $799?

    • Both of them old phones
pixel 6 just around the corner, s21 already here for the same price

    • Where did you find the pixel 5 for $799?

      • Google Store.
        Long running discount.

        • I'm in the market for a Pixel 5 so would love to get it for this price! But I can only see it for $999 on the Google Store.

Is it a targeted deal? Or were you referring to this one which is expired?

  • +2

Are Samsung taking the piss with all these different models?

    • +1

They are probably trying out Xiaomi's method - saturate the market with different models and variants.

  • +1

Ghost touches? Sure hope not after 5 updates to fix it.

  • Dang, bought one from JB less than a month ago at $899.

  • +1

I just realise that this is 4G version… more expensive than 5G version just a week ago!? What?

    • The 5G version last week was only available at that price if you have $150 voucher + $50 coupon, otherwise it's $100 more expensive. The only difference is 5G otherwise they are identical.

      • It is fairly easy to get the $150 voucher (super easy, I say). All phones should be 5G or 5G ready by now. Mine is 5G, and I have to say, it is impressive. 5G will only get more stable from now on, faster too.

I get like 20Mbps on 4G where I am, but with 5G, I am regularly hitting 150Mbps, 400Mbps+ if I put my phone on the window ;). Pretty impressive for a $300 5G phone. It has dual sim and microSD. Headphone jack too.

P.S. I'm moving away from Samsung until they reinstate MicroSD and true physical Dual Sim.

      • Some people are getting 1Gbps or higher. Unstable, but still, impressive.

        • As of right now there is very few App that use more than 250Mbps and it's going to stay that way for couple more years. Even Apple App store or Google Play does not support faster download yet. I tested with my Gigabit internet and WiFi 6, speed test for example goes up to 900Mbps yet any actual DL is around 30 MB/s or 240Mbps.

Even on desktop it's rare to use Gigabit, I meant only Steam and Epic Games. Google drive or other Cloud storage do around 40MB/s only

How come when I bought my s20 Fe 4g from JB it was Exynos? There definitely didn't have any snapdragons available and the battery life was the worst I've ever experienced from any phone!

    • +1

This is a newly introduced upgraded model.

Still the same old 4G version of the S20 FE, but with a swapped out Snapdragon processor for better battery life, performance and photos. Samsung may have seen something in the sales figures.

  • Poco F3 as an alternative. Pretty good price for this Sammy though

  • +1

I wonder if boost will be getting 5G soon?

  • should I upgrade this from S10? I can sell the S10 for $300 on gumtree.

  • +3

Why not buy Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro - 256gb for $330??

  • Wonder if samsung store will match the price soon?

  • +3

Why are people still pretending 5G makes a difference?

    • Never underestimate the power of marketing! Most people are gullible and easily manipulated because majority of the time human think with feeling. When we feel something is better, logic goes out if the window.

My IT company signed up bunch of customers because we use the word "cloud" back when it was the buzz. We run the same thing as the customer did and charge 500% more.

  • +2

5G does make a difference, your battery does not last as long.

  • If this is an 2021 release does this mean the updates support guarantee starts from the release date?

    • Probably considering its advertised as a 2021 model, unless they count it as the same as the October 2020 models. A few months extra security updates won't make a huge difference anyway. The other option is $849 for the S21 5G using codes on the Samsung Store, or trading in and getting a further discount.

  • Just picked this up and ordered the spigen touch armour case with inbuilt kick stand

It appears to already have a screen protector installed

Also comes with charger and usb cord

    • +1

It appears to already have a screen protector installed

Yes it does, it's plastic and it's complete rubbish because it has deep scratches after a few months and makes it hard to swipe. It's only good for a few months of use prior to purchasing a glass screen protector. This is from my experience using an S20 FE 5G from October 2020 to March this year.

I recommend EFM screen protectors which I've used on an S10e, S20 FE 5G, and Pixel 4a. They're not cheap crap like some generic tempered glass or Panzer Glass. Usually they're around $30-40 on eBay. Example - eligible for 15% off with code, or 17% with eBay Plus.

    • +2

Yeah that's not a screen protector it's rubbish lol. Take it off asap and replace with something half decent
