Samsung Galaxy A52 5G 256GB $597 @ Officeworks

230

A52 is a great mid-range phone from Samsung. While shopping for this I noticed that all retailers are charging about $150 more for the 5G 256GB version, compared to the 4G 128GB version. Except Officeworks who for some reason seem to have priced the two models both at $597. Picked one up yesterday.

  • Store in title please

  • apparently Samsung temporarily put a halt in making A52 and A72 due to lack of chips for now

  • Was almost going to go this until the S21 deal popped up last week.

S20 FE 4G Snapdragon is a much better buy for $102 more at JB hi-fi.

Unless of course you want 5G.

    • In my suburban house: Aussie Broadband: average 80MBits download $99/mo.
Telsostra after a million complaints 5G 390MBits/sec 165 Gigs/mo $65.00 ok the ping time is a bit longer but thruput seems still double!

      • I have 1Gbps with ABB $149/m and it's a lot more stable than 5G right now. Average 950Mbps all day, bigger problem is apart from downloading Steam or Epic Games nothing ever comes close to 60% bandwidth usage.

I also get up to 400Mbps with Boost 4G.

Much better phone than my old S9

  • Is this worth it? I recently dropped a weight on my trusty s8+ and now the screen feels like Braille. I was looking at this or if there's better s21 deals. Looking at the specs faster and newer processors in the s21 but the 8gb ram and screen on the a52 seem fine for ordinary use and cameras.

I recently upgraded to the A52 4G coming from the S8+ as well (similar situation with a cracked screen). I bought for circa $430 from Education Store, but would recommend at this price point given its 5G and 256GB.

      Pros:
      Much faster than S8+
Noticeable difference with 90hz screen. With the 5G being 120hz, I would assume it would be much better
      Camera was much better overall

      Cons:
Overall phone is larger than S8+ (noticeable more when adding a case). This is due to bigger battery
As above, with the bigger battery will result in being heavier too

I now have the S21 after wanting a smaller phone, and I managed to take advantage of the recently trade in deals.

      • Thanks, I see the main difference between the a52 and S20 fe is processor speeds but gaming won't be a priority

  • Does anyone know for sure if this has NFC? I looked at it in store (nice looking phone) and the spec sheet next to it listed NFC but I can't find any reference to NFC online.

    • What sites are you using? Samsung AU website lists NFC

      • Thanks. Not sure where I'd looked. Perhaps it was international version of the A52..

    • I can confirm it has NFC

  • If the display is as good as on the A20 then thumbs up! Plenty of cheap stuff out there to snap piccies…

I have had this phone for 3 weeks now, very happy with it.

  • A90 is an upgrade when compared to this one?

I’m not a Samsung guy but have unused A90 to sell. LOL.

I prefer the a52 5G, better screen, design and big plus is water resistance.

    Officeworks doing officeworks things

It's a pretty good phone at that price, especially if like me you demand a 3.5mm jack.

damn … this is back to normal price now. Missed it by a day (it was still $597 yesterday) … congrats to those who scored one at this price.
