@archieduh: You can put in any combination of sizes into the slots but you probably want matching sizes for DIMM slots 1 and 2 to get the most out of dual channeling.

  • +3

Gosh I am tempted to go for the 3070 model. Must resist!

  • +3

What's it mean by not the most update to date system? Is there a newer 5800 cpu or newer 3060?

  • -1

good deal, but wait for 3070ti and 3080ti … :D

  • +1

If only it were upgradable and I could pick a different case so I could fit a bunch more spinning disks in…

  • Value wise, which did you guys think was better? Because it felt like it was to me but this post is gaining a lot of traction.

    • I think the Auora R11 RTX3080 is a better value for gaming

  • "Not the most up to date system" - what's more "up to date" than 5xx0 Ryzen and RTX 30x0?

    • +1

I think just the fact that system is R10 and Intel based systems are up to R12. Not sure if there are any actual differences other than Ryzen 5000 vs Intel 11th gen.

      • Ahh okay, thanks for the explanation :)

      • +1

R10, R11 and R12 are all the same "chassis".

        R10 is AMD Ryzen
        R11 is Intel 10th gen
        R12 is Intel 11th gen

Otherwise everything else is same same and you just need to read the specs.

The INTEL platform (socket) has no upgrade path. So you will need a new PC as these motherboards are custom, and you can't swap out for an aftermarket one.

The AMD socket has an upgrade path (CPU refresh) but both platforms are moving next gen to DDR5 PCIE4 and both will be getting a socket and matching CPUs to match it in 2022.

By then the GTX 3XXX series will be two years old and due to a new GPU (this year were getting a refresh with mining limiters announced as its only real feature)

So no matter what you buy these platforms have <18 months shelf life (working life of twice that)

The Intel is faster than the AMD in gaming, the AMD is faster in some encoding work, so trading paces!

The intel K version gets better tower air cooling! Water cooling is better again!

16gb dual channel for gaming, 32gb dual channel for video editing but buy aftermarket as DELL pricing is stupid but a REP will compete when moding a system futher

  • Says 3070 is out of stock

    • Couldn't decide on 3060 Ti or 3070, with 3070 out of stock decided to go 3060 Ti and save some $.

Was eyeing on this for a while, looking forward to it now!

  • +1

Is it bad to just buy this cause it cheap and has a pretty case?

  • will these come with hash rate limited GPU?

    • +4

Product is in stock for fast delivery i.e. already assembled and ready to ship so it might have an older GPU that isn't hash rate limited

  • For day to day use,
Would it be more cost effective to sell the 3070, buy a cheap GPU?
Or dont get this, and just do a custom build with a 3700x or 3800x?

    • +1

Depends on what you mean by a "cheap GPU", cuz there is no such thing right now.

A used GTX 1080 will cost you $700~$800, brand new 2060 may be $800+, so while you will still make some profit, the whole system won't be enjoyable to use.

      • GTX970 or even GTX960…

        • Also got an old radeon sitting around that I dont mind using. Not a gamer.

Current 4770 is getting abit dated.

So, wondering if it works out cheaper to custom build, or selling GPU from this. Problem is cant find a good indication of what the GPU can actually be sold for (phones are easier, most supply/demand, therefore more efficient market).

          • @[Deactivated]: It will be cheaper to buy this and sell GPU.

            • @aveeno bb: What sort of $ (if a good guesstimate can be ascertained) please? If the difference is marginal (100-200), will go for custom build with water cooling.

But if it is 300+ then worthwhile.

              • @[Deactivated]: May be you can do your research on eBay.

3060 Ti or 3070 will sell around 1,500+

                • @aveeno bb: I did. Not much of an indication on 3070 or 3060ti, esp a Dell one.

One dell 3070 bidded to 1800$ as of this morning. Ocau going rate is app 1.4k. - 400$ gap between the two places. I guess 3070 is more realistic at 1.5k, leaves $900 for rest of the pc. 3700x is cir $500, ram $100, psu $100… hm… very close.

Def not lazy on my end, but personally not familiar with Alienware/Dell (proprietary plugs etc), as well GPU's market price (not a gamer).

Some ozb users are very knowledgeable (OCAU and the like)… and can give very practical advice based on 1st hand infor.

Ordered one myself, got the 3060ti version , looking at online prices, that cards worth around 1500$ , it’s a no brainer for me plus I always wanted an Alienware product just for its hype. Can’t beat this price, extremely competitive

    • Where did you look please? Just curious.

  • Does anyone know what the model of RAM inside this is? Looking to buy a second 16Gb stick to put alongside it

  • Do you guys know when this deal will run out?

  • +3

For those who got this, I recommend the following upgrades.

CPU Cooloer: Corsair Hydro H60 Liquid CPU Cooler

Front Case Fan: Corsair ML120 Pro

Just installed Corsair H60 to replace the original air-cooled fan, max temp decreased from 82C to 53C (without heave benchmarking though), and much quieter as well.

ML120 Pro to replace the front case fan on the way, will see how much cooler and quieter it will make.

    Plenty of YouTube instructions available.

    • +1

Used the computer for a couple of hours now, maximum CPU temp recorded is 64C. I could achieve 82C with just normal browsing with the stock aircooler.

I would also highly recommend to get Heat Sink for VRM

      Dell Parts#
      J46J2
      4D5V9

      Parts + Shipping + GST = 18.94

      • How do you get them?

      • Can't seem to find these on ebay or dell website. How can we source these?

        • -1

          contact dell directly

  • Market is flooded with RTX 3070.

    • What market? I'm looking to buy some.

      • Flea market. Looks like asking price on listings came down from the $2k mark.

  • Can anyone confirm what ram got shipped with the R10/3070?

Mine is a Kingston HyperX X2YH1K-MIE-NX S2111F8DWD - Assy in CHINA

Trying to buy the same ram for pairing. fk, these guys even put in an OEM ram… FML.

Anyone keen on a wiki page to trade on this specific ram? Suspect those bought this are having the same issue?

    • and people pay crazy money for this junk https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/324632458730

      • Did you add in a 16Gb stick? I have just ordered and wondering what to do as I'd like 32Gb.

        • Yes.

Look for X2YH1K-MIE or X2YH1K-MIE NX. Both have the same Dell part nnumber. One is made in taiwan and one is made in the prc.

  • Are there any rules for what the code "DAISY" can be used for?

  • Bought 2 for work
Used my 2x Amex card to get another 120 off each
Going to see if they both ship with same ram so I can put one stick with the other
Does anyone know if I can use the centrecom deal on this pc
    https://www.centrecom.com.au/kingston-hyperx-fury-rgb-16gb-2…

    • It's reported that retail versions of hyperx failed to work correctly with aurora r10.

You best bet is to go with the guaranteed compatibility, like some crucial models.

      • do you know which model would work ? Thanks

        • contact dell directly

          • -1

@aveeno bb: Dell won't tell you the compatible part okay….

  • +1

Anyone want to sell their 16gb ram they got from this deal? (At least would know it matches). Sydney based

      • The second link is not exactly the same as the one shipped with our R10, so the compatibility is not guaranteed.

It's dual rank (2Rx8), and the one shipped with R10 is a single rank (1Rx8).

        • Look for X2YH1K-MIE or X2YH1K-MIE NX. Both have the same Dell part nnumber. One is made in taiwan and one is made in the prc.

  • These offered have ended but the LOVEKEANU still works on dells website (usaly)

    • Definitely the best way to get 3070 (still on discount) if you don't want to wait weeks on pre-built systems, pay crazy amount of money on the 3070.
