  • Good price for 5G model. Anybody experience warranty claim from this seller(Aliexpress) before?

    • +41

It's easier to convince yourself there is no warranty then you won't be disappointed.

      • +2

I've actually had better service from AliExpress than eBay if things arrive broken.

        • +1

Not with expensive items like mobile.

        • +4

Yet I've had Aliexpress provide me a return label and denied refund after they were shown proof of delivery "case specialists" lying to me so Aliexpress wasn't out of pocket after wrongly releasing funds to seller. eBay service can get bad but nowhere near as bad in my experience.

    • +11

AliExpress = no warranty, no matter what the sellers say.

      • +2

And expensive to send back even if for warranty.

        • +1

Exactly, might as well put 100 year warranty because nobody is going to send let alone trust them to even honor it

        • That’s more to do with inflated prices we’re used to paying for everything here in Australia

    • I bought around 5 phone from Aliexpress in last 5 yrs. never get anything broken or never had problems with any instrument… currently I’m using POCO NFC. It’s pretty impressive phone .

      • +2

so you have no experience with AliExpress warranty.

  • +3

    mediatek.. hmmm okay?

    • That is a bummer. why dont they use snapdragon?

      • +17

        to cut cost?

      • +3

It's actually fairly good budget SoC, around the level of SD730G maybe behind in term of GPU. The thing is it's one of the cheapest 5G SoC and still perform fairly decent.

  • Recently bought the Samsung A52 (non 5G but I'm not too bothered about that) and I'm not exactly loving it, seems slow and a letdown after having s9+ for three years.

Could any fellow OzBargainers offer me any reason to not buy this on a whim.

    Thanks in advance

I'm personally eyeing the Redmi Note 10 Pro, maybe wait until that's cheaper?

      • +1

Fyi got Redmi note 10 pro about 2 months now and it fantastic picture quality is stunning , battery life excellent cannot fault it so far

        • How's the camera?

Also did you get the 6/64, 6/128 or 8/128 version?

I'm thinking of the 6/128 but unsure whether the ram is adequate for everyday things like youtube, browsing, whatsapp etc. I don't do anything overly strenuous like gaming.

          • +2

@montorola: Did you think fantastic picture quality meant when he takes pictures of the phone?

          • @montorola: I got the 6/128 the ram seems more than adequate.i don't game.

      • +2

I've just sold one 8/128 GB.
The screen is really great, battery too, but there's a caveat…
Its proximity sensor is terrible (rumors are - it is actually missing in this phone and is emulated with speakers + other sensors). The screen often lights up while in a call, and you press buttons with your cheek. It also unlocked in my pocket several times: once it declined an eBay offer; and once started a group call with 3 other people.
        Read reviews before buying!

POCO X3 Pro for an extra $30 is a better buy if you don't need 5G.

      • It looks good, think I'll jump on it. Does the one they ship to AU have NFC? I'm finding it hard to find this confirmation

        • +3

Yes it has NFC & B28, Banggood have the wrong specs listed. Pretty sure Banggood has the cheapest price at the moment. Check past deals for comments/discussion.

        • +6

Remember to use the App, not the website as you'll save the gst. Website through browser to Banggood will add gst on top

          • +10

@CachePC: It's been fixed, website same price as the App. GST is included in total price .

            • +1

              @adr8: Well, that's disappointing :(

      • I have one (Poco X3 Pro) , it arrived a couple of days ago, taking 18ish days from order to Adelaide. Purchased for a client to enable QR Code and BLE beacon scanning integration into a workflow. So far very impressed with it. GPS accuracy is better than than my S10. Camera is pretty great for a <$300 outlay.

        • Good to hear. I'm waiting for my X3 Pro to arrive…

    • +2

samsung A always like that. the bugdets.
i got one years ago and wasnt happy
i thought they are better in 2020/2021 but probably not as you mentioned

      • Phone is nice, but I think I also dislike the latest Samsung UI. Hadn't updated the old phone in a while.

Camera also really slow, probable to do with the processor

    • +1

The A series are quite budget.

    • +1

Isn't the A52 running a Snapdragon 720G? That should be decent enough.

      • Do not try Samsung's non-Flagship phones….
The chance u will regret is really high.

        • +1

why?, my mum, dad and sister have a20 and love it. they are not gamers. they call people and watch youtube/netflix. does everything they need.
My mrs has the a21s and she loves that too.

the only gripe we have with them is not being able to use the ultrawide camera in third party apps which is the same for the flagship phones too…

          • +1

@Silent-zai: U answer the question by urself.
Ur parents, sister and Mrs. that is the group does not care much except basic usage.
for low to mid range, u have more choices rather than Samsung.

            • @salin: yep and when your looking in the budget range, these are the things you need to look at.

    • You will have similar issues

    • +1

      Not that one
I've bought A52 after poco X3 - Samsung faster, better camera, ip68, not so fat and better screen. I'm happy with a52, especially when it cheaper than poco/redmi and has au warranty
Poco M3 is the cheaper entry model, don't believe it could be better than X3

not sure why your sams is slow, never seen any complaints regarding the processor and speed

maybe try Redmi Note 10 Pro or poco F3 / X3 pro, just keep in mind - all new poco/redmi/xiaomi having lots of bugs and issues before they receive 2-3-4 updates

    • A series is budget series, so they compromise in quality

  • 5G work in Australia? bought a 5G before in china, to only reason it doesn't work with telstra sim.. even though the band should work?

    • +4

You can check the phones 5G bands here

      The M3 Pro has 2 of 2 OPTUS, 1 of 2 Telstra & 1 of 1 Vodafone 5G bands.

      • +1

my god you genius. can i ask, how do you know which band is the area you are at? i tried looking at telstra already, parramatta 2150 definitely works for iphones

        • -1

          RFNSA

  • Also does anyone know, is you can 5G tether to USB mode to a router on 'android' mode?

    • I have this question too as this could potentially make a good 5G modem?
Will a data sim in one of the two sim slots work?

  • +1

Why would you pick this over poco x3, which is around the same price?

    • Wondering the same… maybe because they are the fool ones, …..

    • +2

      5G

    • +1

Because 5G and this is newer means it gets supported longer.

    • I don't think any country is going to phase out 4G in the next 6ish years. So, better to go for the X3 Pro. It's better in every way.

  • +1

170 grams is my weight limit - 190 too heavy

  • How's the Ali shipping speed lately for everyone? Some of my orders have been stuck for 2-4 weeks with no movement. Is there a huge backlog around the May1 holiday?

    • +1

      I bought:
      - earphones, around beginning of May, and it took 14+ days to arrive
      - headphones last week, and it arrived in 7+ days !

( both were AliExpress 'Standard Shipping' )

    • Ali express standard shipping is absolute rubbish. Go for anything but as long as it's tracked.

      • Thanks for the tip.
I had an EMS ePacket which vanished after 23 April after "flight departure"… Hope the flight landed safely!

  • +3

Thanks OP for the deal and answering most queries
you have my respect and +1 for the effort.

  • How does this compare to the Poco F3? Recently smashed the screen on my Oneplus 7 Pro and the repair quote was ~$550. These Poco phones are such good value its hard to turn away

    • m3 is entry level
      f3 is mid range

    • Poco X3 Pro is about $150 less than the Poco F3 as well, if you don't need 5G.

  • Just note that you won't be able send/receive MMS on Optus (or an MVNO of Optus), got the normal M3, it's the only downside.

    • why?

      • You just may not be able to, I don't know why. It's like the F2 Pro, MMS just doesn't work on Optus.

  • Did price go up? Its now 189.00 for 128gb model + $26.32 for shipping

so even with the $10 off its not anywhere near. Also I get promo code invalid. US $236.85 after GST.

  • Anyone else get a message saying that they have to declare real value and therefore I have to pay customs tax?
They didn't say how much, but I do have the option to cancel the order.
I've ordered phones from Aliexpress before and never had this problem.
