  • Can't find the page… Is it in Victoria as well?

Can get 128GB for around this price or very little more e.g. https://www.catch.com.au/product/apple-iphone-7-128gb-black-…

    https://www.catch.com.au/product/apple-iphone-7-128gb-rose-g…

Not sure of the storage for the iPhone 8 here, but even if it's 64GB, there'd still be cheaper options https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=iphone+8&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

Keep in mind the iPhone 7 discontinued in 2017/2019(32GB) with iOS support expecting to end Sep 2022.

  • Would like to know how much does Samsung offer to this in their trade in program?

    • $45 or less from memory

      • that's insane if there is no bonus credit.

Why don’t just buy directly from the provider: https://shop.greengadgets.net.au/ ? It is a little bit cheaper and they have not just 2 models.

    • Any difference between Alegre (Boost refurbs provider) and GreenGadgets?

      • I've previously bought an 8 from GreenGadgets and it all went smoothly.

      • +2

I never bought anything from neither of those but here’s what’s on greengadgets site at https://shop.greengadgets.net.au/pages/terms-conditions

        “ Terms & Conditions

Alegre Pty Ltd ACN 159 022 296 trading as Green Gadgets - Second Hand Dealer Licence 2PS11940”

Also, in here https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/inside-alegre-aussie-smartphone… says that

“ Where can you get an Alegre refurbished phone?
Alegre operates Green Gadgets (eBay store here), and you may see other retailers and online stores offering devices under that brand. It also sells via EB Game and Leading-Edge computer stores.

Boost Mobile is a major MVNO, and current prices are here. Note these are not trade-in prices.”

Don't buy a 7. Terrible battery life and lots of issues with audio IC and wifi modules.

  • +2

Unless it is an Apple refurb which has a new battery and more these old phones are not worth it.

    • Agree, no idea where these refurb providers get the “new batteries”. Are they authentically from Apple?

      • +2

Nowhere does the Coles adv say they replaced the battery, they almost never do, they usually just wipe it with an oily rag and sell it.

      • There’s no new battery. Your essentially buying an used phone. The refurbished part is misleading.

  • Agree with others get the 8. Much better battery life plus wireless charging and significant performance boost all round. Well worth the extra cost

  • Why would anyone buy a clapped out old IPhone when you can buy a near cutting edge, latest model Android for about $200?

Just never have and never will understand the Apple Lemmings "logic" - if there is any …

    • I don't understand either.
My year-7 daughter needs a laptop for school. I gave her two choices: a clunky, 10-year-old MacbookPro and a lightweight (but not weak), 3yo Windows laptop with a touch screen & stylus. She insists on taking the MBP.
I couldn't see anything good with that MBP

      • 2011 MBP still decent with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD

        • Yes, that's the configuration I installed for her.
          Two very bad things:
          1. ~2.5kg (laptop+charger)
          2. Battery is bad. I don't know why the cycles count is less than 300 but it could last for less than an hour.

Performance-wise: yes, she could use that with Google office, web browsing,… without any issue

          • @Averell: Yeah, the weight is a little heavy these days, especially if it's a 15". Battery can replacements cost around $40. I picked up an e-waste 13" Late 2011 for my fiancee, even though it has 93 cycles, and it's lost ~15% health.

            • @phamid: Could you tell me a reliable place to replace the battery?
I used to trust that number, but not anymore now.

  • Don't seem to be any avail on this link anyway?

  • These are Japanese iPhones that can’t be muted while taking photos/videos
