  • Just so everyone knows.. this type of GPS is so easilyyyy availabe on Ebay. Same gps receiver chip and everything. I got mine delivered from Asia for $99 including registered shipping.

Just search for GPS on Ebay and you will see what I mean ;)

    Here is one here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-3-5-GPS-AU-US-MAP-SAT-NAV-MP4-MP3…

Even comes with Maps (often more than one country - mine was AU/NZ/EU). They are all on auctions, and mostly go for around 70-80$+postage.

  • Hi,

I'm sure you can find cheaper units on Ebay, but this particular unit is from a local supplier with local warranty support should anything go wrong. Beware of inferior products on Ebay WITHOUT warranty support, to save you the headache of warranty issues.

    Carol,

    • Some of the powersellers on Ebay selling GPS offer a warranty too. Also, a friend of mine had a problem with one, returned it and got sent another one.

Trust me, they treat it like a business too.

Note: I did not give you a NEGATIVE vote, I am just giving people an opinion about a similar product ;)

  • Stop spamming for your generic cheap goods, CarolOcean. Please search before post.

    • I am curious as to what a TomTom thread has to do with this other than that they are both GPS units?

Am I allowed to mention portable hard drives if the source is different??

      Ozzie

      • what i mean is if you can get a branded GPS for a few dollars extra, 160 for a generic branded GPS wont be considered as a bargain.

    • What is your point?

Those links you provided are for different brands at different (and higher) prices.

I'm sure we are allowed to have more than one GPS listed on the site!

BTW, I am not associated with the OP or seller, I just don't see the point of the negative vote.

  • The beauty of OzBargain that we are an open forum community and everyone has equal chance to say anything of their heart content (well within the applicable ethic/law, of course).

If deal is not particularly "bargain" - especially with the gazillions stuff of cheapos/clones from 2008 Olympic host country, then, let them say so.

Of course buyer practice their due diligence in researching/buying stuff from there :) and that's where OzBargain here to help them make that decision.

  • Many of those e-Bay sellers out of China use illegal copies of the navigation maps or trial versions that expire in 90 days (also illegal). For those less ethically minded, this may not be a problem until they go to update the maps (e.g. because East Link is now open) and the navigation software provider says "sorry, we don't support that unit." So, my comment is "buyer beware" when it comes to buying product that isn't coming from a reputable Australian company.

    • Heh.. many of them use Windows CE so you can put whatever you want on the SD card. :)
