Wasted 25 mins on watching this video, and it only talked about proprietary form factor/parts. (Nothing unexpected) This is not something new, and it is for lazy people that wants an out of the box and forget type, and has been around for yonks.

Then the video goes to talk about no heatsink for onboard chips, and no screws (screws? Personally prefer quick release tools).

Bad PC, not sure, depends on audience. Down side of proprietary, yes.

Just reinstall a fresh non-OEM image of Windows?

        • +3

          Yes. Watched it too.
1 bloatware - fair call, an easy to fix on a PC
2 30% cpu usage - well, it's running a bunch of updates at initial bootup. Not unusual. I am sure idle is acceptable once all updates are done
3 thermal - def an issue. In fact, I find it crazy that not every fan fits.

To sum up, not for everyone, esp the enthusiast. General public - esp ppl with no knowledge of PC parts, still not a bad option. I find one of the bloatwares - update agent to be quite good.

Just people trying to justify paying an extra $1K for a PC from a "computer" store.

      Wow GPU is crap

It's funny how the only people that post negative comments are the only people who don't own one…

I don't get dells pricing strategy. How does this cost more than their 3080 alienware build….
    They're selling the 3070 G5 desktop for $3200!

I'd love to see their alienware 3080 build for less than $1882.

The cooler of it is very weak even weaker than intel stock cooler. Also the build quality is quite concerning inside out. Be aware.

  • $1799 on eBay

You'll have to wait a month for that one (yes, they have separate listings for "in stock" and not in stock, e.g. https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/gaming-and-games/dell-g5-gam… . There are ozbargain members still waiting for their machines from weeks ago while "in stock for fast delivery" machines have been delivered within days). It's a pretty poor business model, I acknowledge, not delivering existing orders sooner.

Works out much the same after cashback (although could get cheap ebay gift cards). I, personally, wouldn't be willing to risk a pre-order that long given potential to be provided a LHR video card but YMMV.

  • We will have normal pricing before the end of the year with this crypto crash. Finally

Crypto is not the only reason that video cards are in short supply and expensive. It is an industry wide tech problem affecting all sorts of manufactured goods including cars.

    Yeah but, WHO IS KEANU?

    • Prob the local GM's new mistress.

  • it is actually a good deal given the super fast delivery.
