      Their devices, not just phones, provide insanely good value for money. And the Snapdragon versions are very developer-friendly, if you're the tinkering type.
      My suggestion is to start small with a cheap model to see if you're fine with their version of Android and its quirks and features and then work your way up from there.

          You'll find videos showcasing MIUI (their version of Android like OneUI is to Samsung). Some things they do well. Some others, not so much. I guess that applies to every software. The upside though is that you can run custom ROMs (stock Android) after a successful bootloader unlock.

          Nah not at all. It's a MIUI theme that comes up as user preference. Personally, not a fan would rather stock android but there are plenty of plus sides. In general, I stick to snapdragom variants of Xiaomi's as they are just long lasting and reliable phones.

          Plenty of XDA roms.

          But Xiaomi is getting a bit expensive now. You can pick up insane budget phones locally from recent deals…

      Xiaomi? They have good hardware but their software is pure trash. This isn't just true for their phones either. Have a look at the Xiaomi sub on Reddit to see all the bugs they have that shouldn't be bugs in the first place.

        I have a mi10. Had it since launch, there's been regular updates and no bugs. Only thing that bothers me is a lack of quality aftermarket ROMs.

          Chinese firms support their newer devices by bombarding them with updates to get the devices up to an acceptable operating range. The updates crawl to a trickle once the phone passes 1 year of ownership. Xiaomi had to pull updates numerous times for one reason or another. Their biggest fiasco was the update that bricked their phones.

          I hear the lack of roms are due to xiaomis doing. So you might be out of luck if you want to escape miui.

          If you want custom ROMs on Xiaomi, you need to buy a popular phone. Poco series have fantastic support and lots of ROMs.
          I'm currently using crDroid on my Poco X3 NFC and and it feels every bit as good as a Pixel device.

          If you want decent, long term support buy a Google Pixel phone. I have a Pixel 2XL as well, and even though Google doesn't support, there is Lineage ROM which is even more featured than stock Google ROM.

            I've managed to remove a lot of the bloatware and setup afwall. I'm happy with it, it's still one of the best phones of its generation/class.

              @[Deactivated]: No custom ROM is without bugs, at least in my experience. You are bound to run into some that can't be ignored, which then forces you to move on to another ROM. And then the cycle continues.

        I have a RN4X a RN5H and a RN9S and yet to see any of these so called "bugs".
        A lot of the posts on Reddit are from people with no idea about Android or mobile phones in general.
        I have owned several other makes of phones and the thing that has sold me on Xiaomi is the all round quality at a fraction of the price of comparable phones.

        my redmi note 9t 5g from aka Xiaomi manufacturer is not really reliable, all the phone can have issues. So yes if you are concerned about warrenty that much do not buy from banggood. i am feeling very stuck with this faulty phone

      My xiaomi note phone lasted 2 years and suddenly the phone battery just couldn’t charge anymore. But because of the low cost, not worth fixing. However my Samsung 8 is still good after 4 years. My 2c

      For a bit more, you're getting 2 extra GB of RAM, a marginally faster processor, a 120Hz display and NFC.
      The Redmi Note 10 has an OLED display though, if that matters.

I want to replace my old 2015 Samsung phone (I think it's an A3), but yeah, not sure what to get to replace it.             As for budget, it was about $200-$300. Are these Pocos pretty reliable? I'm a little worried about warranty. I assume there is none, or would you still get one year warranty?

              @Ice009: Warranty I couldn't tell you because I don't know, however you obviously can't take it to a local store because you'd have to ship it to HK and hope they honor it. In terms of the phones you are querying - There is the older POCO X3 NFC and the predecessor the POCO X3 Pro (which is newer and much faster with a flagship chipset in it). It's currently US$219 which is about AU$289 with free shipping. I think this deal ends today though and you may have to pay for shipping afterwards and the price may or may not change.

                  It has 5g, better screen, brightness, battery life and chipset. It's about AU$460 from Banggood but with 5% cashback it's a really good price for such a specced out phone.

                      @Ice009: It comes with a screen protector and case so no need to spend extra money.

                      You use cashrewards by logging in first and then clicking the link to banggood through their website, then adding the phone to your cart and purchasing that way. If it doesn't register you can lodge a manual claim after I think a week through click history. Ensure you don't have any adblockers running when you do it.

      app developers want to get the most users possible so design apps to run on a broad spec base. look at the apps you run, and how many and that will give you an idea how much ram you need, and also battery size. my phone is android 10, 3gb and i don’t run out of ram, but i just use browser, banking apps, google maps, make phone calls etc and watch some videos, listen to music …..

    Upgraded from my Samsung S7e to this recently. Very satisfied so far, I find the stock OS more enjoyable to use, it's snappier, extra screen space is nice despite the lower resolution, nice fingerprint sensor on the power button, good speakers and the battery life is fantastic. Comes with a 33W charger too.

    Only real hiccups are no NFC (There are NFC versions on aliexpress however), and a some apparent lag when I use the camera. Nothing major though.
    I got mine for $240aud and consider $200 a steal, happy to answer any questions anyone may have.

      Prepaid Vodafone/Telstra mobile for under $200, even $159-$179 and some as low as $80-$119 and often cheap to unlock.

      It has also has 6.4" Amoled screen ( only HD ) and was great value at the time ( won the best OzBargain budget phone by far ).

      Yeah, if my old Xiaomi RN4 did not fall of top of car and broke screen ( phone was still working )

      I would also still be using it as a consumption device as battery was still decent and phone was still reasonably fast.

      I am now looking to get another Xiaomi, maybe this one with 6GB ram would be nice or a deal on the Note Pro would

      be even better lol.
