Google Pixel 4a 5G 128GB $549 Delivered (Registered Telstra ID Required) @ Telstra

2710

Dare I say a real bargain for this phone, lowest I’ve ever seen even.

Google Pixel 4a 5G is currently $549 outright with a previously registered Telstra ID, $250 off RRP and $50 cheaper than this deal not long ago. However, if you have not owned a Telstra ID, you’ll need to add an upfront mobile plan, minimum $55 for at least 1 month, bringing it to a total of $604 to be able to check out.

The professionals out there will probably not forget to price match Officeworks for another 5% off or use their 10% off giftcards at JB Hi Fi.

Happy hunting!

The iPhone 12 and 12 mini are also on sale for $200 off RRP for all variations on Telstra website. Same requirements with Telstra ID apply.

  • iPhone 12 mini: 64GB ($999) | 128GB ($1079) | 256GB ($1249) link
  • iPhone 12: 64GB ($1149) | 128GB ($1229) | 256GB ($1399) link

For new customers, you can avoid the $55 upfront mobile plan at checkout with a $2 prepaid sim, thanks APN Adelaide

  • No luck at my local Officeworks or JB :(

    Thanks OP.
Able to price beat at Officeworks (1300 633 423) for $521.55

    • I got it by calling them too.
(I'm in Victoria - so you can't call the local stores due to lockdown.)

  • +3

I’ve been waiting for a deal like this, saw it here and immediately drove to the nearest officeworks where they had one left. Walked out 5 minutes later with a new phone after paying $521.55, thanks OP!

    • Nice work. It's an awesome phone!

  • no luck in vic :(

  • Recommendations for screen cover and case pls? Especially want to explore something that has a USB C port cover to stop the lint..

  • They're onto it… the lady knew exactly which phone I was talking about.

  • Great Post OP.
:( just bought a Moto 5G plus as my Pixel 2 stopped working.

  • I'm using Pixel 4a 5g from 5months now and had only one issue. Dual bluetooth doesn't work properly, the Bluetooth keep switching devices when I am on call. Like, if I am driving, a phone call would switch from car Bluetooth to my watch Bluetooth and keep interrupting like this.
Does anyone has the same bluetooth issues??

    • Car Bluetooth is terrible with my device. I stick to my TWS and watch

  • +2

Confirmed purchase through Telstra no plan required - thanks great deal!

  • So I've given up buying through Officeworks, but now when I try to buy through Telstra payment fails everytime, and if I try to change from a saved payment method I just get kicked out.

Universe doesn't want me buying this damn phone.

    • -1

Had the exact same experience. No solution yet

      • Trying a chat now, their chat is such crap now, seems like each support person must now be doing multiple chats at a time.

Last message I got was basically, I'll help you buy the phone, just let me know what plan you want.

        But I already have a plan……… :(

        • Ended up getting it pricematched with office works phone line. $521.55. Order confirmation email recieved. Payment taken. Pick up in 2 hours hopefully

          • @ohyesss: God damn man, just tried calling them a third time and still no luck.

Telstra chat said I can get it for the $549 from a Telstra store, so might just do that.

            • @matictac: I guess I got lucky. No idea why some people are having success and others not. Picked mine up :)

              • +1

@ohyesss: So I was told by chat to go to the local Telstra store, went to two in the one shopping centre, neither could sell me the (profanity) phone, and tried the JB for good measure, no go either.

I never thought it'd be this hard to buy a (profanity) phone.

                • @matictac: Yeah that is frustrating. I would try again on a few days. The Telstra deal goes for a month. You might have better luck with OW once the hype dies down.

                  • @ohyesss: I don't believe in fate, but I think this just isn't meant to be.

          • @ohyesss: Hey mate would you post or email copy of he receipt so could get deal also ?

            • @agentsmith1: If you can recommend a way I can hide my personal information in a secure what that can't be undone I an happy to post it

              • @ohyesss: If it’s a hard copy, a piece of paper over personal info is great.
If it’s digital, just black it out with any editing app then screenshot it again if you’re on a phone or any pdf editing tool if you’re near a laptop

              • @ohyesss: just blank out any personal information mate …. as long as the basics are there to prove it

  • also same issue. can't go through payment even tried several different cards.

    Thanks OP.
Able to price beat at Officeworks (1300 633 423) for $521.55
Waiting for the confirmation email and email from the store I selected

  • +1

Can anyone post their receipt with personal information taken off so it will be easier to get the price beat with Officeworks?

    • Tried calling Officeworks (1300 633 423) - no luck. They admitted they do make mistakes sometimes. However, they have been told by the price beat team not to do it for Telstra website.

  • +1

Just called the office works 1300 number amd they say they won’t price match Telstra because you need to sign up and also get a credit check.

They know it’s an outright deal.

If someone could send the receipt or post it may help the rest of us.

    • +1

typical OW - try to weasel their way out of a price match

    • Telstra put on their website right underneath the pixel 4A outright ‘together with an eligible Telstra plan’

  • How do I get a Telstra ID if I've never had a Telstra account?

    • Sign up for free online

    • Follow the prompts and sign up. Shouldn’t be an issue but it will be another $55 to include the cheapest mobile plan and check out

      • I don't want a Telstra Plan

        • +1

Neither do I but the world operates in a very specific manner. You could ask family members/friends with Telstra ID to do you a favour and send them the money instead. But from experience, favors usually cost around the same or more a pop

          • @Kremleen: So this is really only a viable deal for people who want to join Telstra (if they're not already with Telstra). Hardly a deal then.

            • @[Deactivated]: You can always cancel their plan right after purchase and enjoy a month of data as their upfront plans don’t require any commitment. And at $604, albeit not the best, it’s still a reasonable option if you want to get your hands on one of these babies right now.

              • @Kremleen: They'll probably ping your credit rating before signing up to a 'plan'. That alone kills it. Cheers anyway.

                • @[Deactivated]: what about telstra prepaid
how much is it $2 or $5 for getting a card?

                  $2 it is

                  https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/fre…?
                  Telstra ID sorted i guess

                  • +1

@APN Adelaide: Did anyone get it working with a prepaid sim?

                    • +1

@fade: Yep, went out to get a $2 sim so that I could get a Telstra ID. Order just went through

                      • @tnguyen01: @tnguyen01 Thanks for confirming. However, Telstra will still do the credit check. Does it worth it?

                      • @tnguyen01: Did you have to buy a plan after activating the $2 sim in order to get a Telstra ID?

                        • +1

@prophet: I had a Telstra plan a few years ago. Maybe activating the pre-paid sim reactivated my dormant account.

                    • @fade: i tried today and it didn't work

                      • @roozmik: Same, I just tried. How are people getting this to work with just the $2 SIM with no plan added may I ask?

  • Is this eligible for Shopback ? Under "No Lock in Contracts", says upto $55.

  • +1

    Pixel 5A out next week

    • +1

Doesn't matter you can't get it locally. Good luck with warranty with your grey import. Pray it doesn't bootloop like G4 or no hardware issues like the Samsung

  • Eagerly waiting for Pixel 6

    • It will cost you three times as much

  • +2

Had the payment issues earlier; tried again now and it went through. $549, no plan required
    thanks OP

    • Man I had TROUBLE today buying this damn phone, had given up after having the payment issue and gotten the run around by Telstra Support, but just tried again after seeing your comment and it's worked, cheers Joel.

      • It still did not work for me! I signed up with a prepaid number few years back with a [email protected] username. I was still able to login to the account, updated driver licence and other info, however, at the end it is coming up with error as it says I have to add a plan!

    • Did they ask for ID? They're asking me for a passport or similar and I'm wondering if I'm accidentally signing up for a plan.

      • Yeah I got asked for ID, but definitely haven't been signed up for a plan. Invoice states phone only, nothing else, I can see that no other plans have been added to my account.

  • I bought it through the Telstra website and used my phone for it.. I already had a dormant telstra account… seemed to work.
I went to officeworks and the lady there called Telstra to see if the phone was locked.. and the idiot Telstra sales person said that all their phones on plans are locked.. which is the complete opposite of reality. Ugh.. oh well. $549 is a good deal…
I am looking for this to replace my Pixel 3XL… to hand it down…. but ugh.. it sounds like the Pixel 3XL is better than this 4A is so many ways except battery life!

    • I have pixel 3xl, pretty much same opinion as you. No matter how I research and look at it the 3XL has better specs in everything except battery and ram… Wish that I could just replace battery and upgrade ram lol

  • +1

Is this phone currently the largest physical pixel phone available. I have a pixel2xl and like the large screen size. So is this one the pixel 4a the largest available screen size or is there an xl version coming soon. Does anyone know? I need a large phone to compensate for all of my other short comings.

    • Yes, this is the largest pixel

  • Thanks OP. OW in VIC doesn't price beat it. And I managed to get one by walking in the store.

  • Trying to work out if it's a big upgrade from my Mate 20 pro.

  • -3

so officeworks got fed up and reduced it to $497
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/google-pix…

    • that is the non-5g version. its 646 without price matching at OW

  • FYI I was able to sign up to TelstraID with my prepaid boost phone number.

    • -1

Did you manage to order a phone?

      • payment went through - order is pending

      • wow! I have a boost number too. However, it is not working for me. Worth sharing the steps you have taken? Cheers

        • +1

Nothing special. I clicked create Telstra id then filled in forms, selecting register with "Telstra Phone Number" and entering my boost number. then at the end I received a verification email. clicked that and the account got created

  • however after receiving the latitude pay invite to get $25 off JB I went to JB and was surprised to see Pixel 5 down to 799 so used the 25 off latitude pay and got it for 774 but also bought a pixel made pixel 5 case which was 30% off $59.95
all signs are pointing to a pixel 6 imminent release but ti will be over $1100

  • Payment issues now all cleared. Just purchased no problem, nil plan required :)

  • Does Telstra add any branding or apps on the device?

  • -2

For those keep nagging on OW price beat, why you guys go through so much issue to save what? $27.45….

SERIOUSLY??? say you are going to use the phone for two years, that is $1.14 a month saving with all that effort!! I am speechless!!

    • +1

I'd maybe do it once if i felt like it… but I agree, not really worth it sometimes. However some people don't have a telstra id

    • Very true but many people couldn't access the Telstra deal.

      • -1

        Well,

        1) create an account is free
        2) if you don't already have a services in the account, just buy a $2 prepaid sim.

BTW thanks for those for the three down vote, guess you can't criticize people on OZB for being stingy, just like you can't criticize CCP for genocide and dictatorship

        • I had a Telstra ID and still couldnt buy it haha but I think that's working now

    • Just let them be. It’s their problems, not ours 🤷

  • Bought one. Hopefully it comes soon. My Pixel 2 XL has had the camera bug for a while now and have been trying to put up with it until the 6 but have already missed a heap of photos of the kids let alone not being able to scan QR check in codes and stuff so bit the bullet. Good enough price for this phone I reckon.

  • Purchased yesterday from Telstra…arrived today what a great phone. My first high end phone wow.

    • Is it unlocked?

      • yep

  • Delivered to Adelaide today from NSW, pretty impressed so far!

  • -6

Arrggghhhh I wish someone commented on here that this crappy phone doesn't have wireless charging!
ugh.. just received it today…. what a piece of crap.

    • -3

Many OZBs are suck into that stock Android BS.

For the same price I would rather go for a Samsung A Series. You can get really high through put with Optus as they have CA. Having said that Optus pricing really sucks right now!!

  • Does anyone know how long Telstra prepaid vouchers last for? As in buy and than you might use it six month later when the other one dies.

    • +1

Roughly a year or so from purchase. There's an expiry date on the voucher, the ones I get from Coles anyway

Edit, I've got some close to 2 years expiry from the purchase date

  • +1

I'm torn between this or the Oppo Find X2 Neo that's currently going for $450 at JBHiFi!

    • Yeah me too. Jb has a 5% off voucher at the mo, so brings the Oppo down to 427. With 5% off Suncorp gift card, Oppo is about 405. Trying to justify if the better camera and longer OS updates are worth the premium. Resale is prob better on the Pixel too. Hmmm.

    • Have you made a decision yet? I'm still struggling.

      • Same here lol.

  • Thanks OP! Got one using the $2 sim card to set up a TelstraId. Hopefully it comes soon…

  • Does Telstra add any branding or apps on the device?

    Anyone can confirm?

    • I got mine delivered yesterday from Telstra and there are no Telstra apps or branding

  • Managed to pricematch with JB

    • Did you price match over the phone or in-store?
