2-Person Gym Membership Deal @ Genesis Ringwood [From $14.45/each + fees]

41

Genesis Ringwood (VIC) is offering a 2-person deal on memberships for friends/couples/family who join before Feb. 14th, 2012.

Ozbargainers would know that major gyms like FF/Genesis/Recreation etc. are usually quite expensive, so I think this brings it down to a reasonable rate, it works out to be:
$14.45 each/week on a 12 month term.
$15.95 each/week on a 6 month term.

$0 joining fee when you purchase a $49 Max Pack (3 sessions with a PT)

Please note there is a $55 admin fee on direct debit plans

Genesis Ringwood membership includes:
- Access to 58 weekly group fitness classes including BodyPump, BodyAttack, Boxing, Zumba, Cycle, RPM, Break-Dancing and many, many more
- Access to pool, spa and sauna
- Access to a plethora of cardio fitness machines including cross-trainers, bikes, treadmills, treadclimbers and stair-climbers
- A vast range of resistance machines to target all areas of the body
- A vast range of weights to suit all levels of fitness and strength
- Free personalised programs provided by a personal trainer every 4-6 weeks

    Good Deal
Not too suprising timing though - Jetts over the road has had a massive surge this month with a no joining fee offer.

  • How much is the joining fee at Genesis?

    • $0 when you get a $49 max pack (3 sessions with a PT), that's just from me at Ringwood though

  • any offer for the parramatta genesis?

    thanks

    • A lot of Genesis gyms are franchises, you'd have to contact them directly :)

  • +3

I'm a new member at Genesis St. Kilda Rd,
    $19.50 on a 6month contract

This so called "2 for 1" deal should mean that the weekly price for each member should be around $10 each
So your telling me that a normal membership without this "promo" is $30/week?

    • -3

As I said, most Genesis gyms are franchises and they all have different rates. I believe you are on a home plan, which only allows you access to your home club, no others. Regardless this offer ends up with a lower rate, which is what the bargain is :)

      • Hi JimJim,

is your offer a gold membership plan? :)

(ie access to all Genesis clubs)

Also note: I was offered gold membership at a different Genesis gym on a weekly plan and it worked out at around $80 to $90 a month, so I'm also wondering how you can claim your plan is 50% off, when that would have to be around $120 a month as your regular home/gold membership price?

        • No unfortunately we can't play with gold prices

        • +1

James … is this really a 50% off rate? If not, can you please take that 50% and the 2-for-1 claim out of the title to save us looking into it further?

If you really are charging $30+ per week though, for regular memberships, then by all means, feel free to leave that in the title … it's just kind of surprising you'd be charging 50% more at Genesis Ringwood than at other Genesis clubs

So a membership at Genesis Ringwood is normally $30/week?
Just trying to figure out if this is truly a 2 for 1 deal, or just $5 off per week deal.

      • +2

You can't just say "regardless this offer ends up with a lower rate. If its not really 2 for 1, then you're misleading everyone.

From your website, Gold is 23.95 per week. So either it costs more to be on the lower plan i.e. $29.90, or you're trying to deceive us by inflating prices and then offering us 2 for 1. Sounds Hardly-Normal if you ask me.

        http://www.genesisfitness.com.au/clubs/vic/ringwood-/join-no…

  • That is a rip off price.

  • Is it just me, or is everyone reading this wrong?

The offer is "2-for-1". As in, pay for one members fee, and another gets in free. Husband and wife for instance.

So unless the guy above was paying $19.50 for 2 people, this is a bargain ??

    • Its just you…
Yer im paying $19.50/week for one person.
No doubt that the OP post may be a "reduced" price, but tell me how this is 2 for 1. Which is why the question that now stands is; is membership $30each/week at Genesis Ringwood (this is not even gold membership)
From the posts above an my experience, it seems as this is a greatly inflated price to assume a 50% off bargain.

      • but tell me how this is 2 for 1.

"Genesis Ringwood (VIC) is offering '2 for the price of 1' on memberships for friends/couples/family who join before Feb. 14th, 2012."

That's kind of the point I'm trying to make… If the cost mentioned is for 2 people, then it's a bargain.

EDIT: And to clarify - 2 for 1 (and BOGOF, etc) can be seen as 50% off, but with the caveat that you have to purchase 2.

        • +1

The cost mentioned is per person.
Ie: both people have to pay $14.45~$15.95 each.
I agree, if it was $15.95 for 2 memberships it would be an awesome bargain.
But since it is $15.95 per person i refuse to believe that this is a 2for1 (50%off) deal.

I actually wouldve + this deal if it was something like:
"Save $5 off Genesis Memberships when joining as a pair"

    • The Rep wrote each after the weekly prices. I believe that mean's it's the weekly price per person.

      • +1

Yep, I'll admit - I read it wrong.. I was reading that part as price each week, not each person.

        NO DEAL!

  • I don't understand the confusion here… Seems simple. Buy one at full price, get the second person free. So depending on I'd you want a 12 month or 6 month contract you'll get 2 people for around $16 total. Yes?

  • Hmm actually, it says that price is EACH. How dodgy are Genesis!!

My suggestion - go with Jett's. It may be more basic but at least it's cheap, the prices are set and you can use any in Australia. At least they seem honest.

The rep seems to have disappeared!

I apologise for any confusion guys, to try and make amends, I have re-written the OP in a less misleading way. As a long-time Ozbargainer myself, I'm just wanting everyone to know that this is a great deal as far as Genesis rates go.

    So to recap:
    - ATM, when two people sign-up at Ringwood before Feb 14th, you can have weekly rates as low as $14.45 (much lower than the standard which is $19.95-28.00 depending on the plan)
    - These rates are for a home membership, which gives you access to just Ringwood
    - $0 joining fee is available when you purchase a $49 Max Pack on joining, a Max Pack is three sessions with a PT
    - There is a $55 admin fee for direct debit memberships

Any more questions, feel free to ask! Otherwise call me during business hours on 03 9870 1666 to make an appointment.

    Cheers.

    • Thanks for clarifying it all :)

    • +1

      James thanks for the response.
Good deal in a sense that it is cheaper than the usual walk-in price.
I have revoked my neg due to the change in details. I would + but it wont let me.

      • Thanks Ted

    • So what is the joining fee if you don't want the "Max Pack"?

      • It's negotiable and will vary depending on what the manager on duty is willing to offer, unlikely more than $49

  • Snap Fitness is only $11.95 per week and no contracts…

    • But they don't operate even remotely close to this area of Victoria

      • One is opening just a few minutes away from me… About time…

        • Just found out it's only $9.95 per week if i get the wife to join too…

          No joining fee… No contract… :)
