Tiger JKT-S10A IH Rice Cooker $519 + Delivery (Free with eBay Plus) @ Bing Lee eBay

210
PPSS100

I know it used to be best practice to wait for the Bing Lee 20% off sales to buy this. There hasn't been a sale since COVID so you could be waiting a while.

They've kept adding more stock as they sell over the past day.

Why pay $500 for a rice cooker when you can cook rice for free on the side of the road with alfoil and a lighter?

Super keen for the response to this…

Why pay $500 for a rice cooker when you can cook rice for free on the side of the road with alfoil and a lighter?

Fair question. Id like to know too. Rice would need to be ouy of this world

    • +2

For me, it's mostly the wank factor. The rice is pretty great though. You do need to spend some $$ on decent rice to start with though.

      • +1

        The wank factor?

Food and wank are two things generally not put together

        • +2

          Who you been dating?

          • @PSEACT: Seems the none rice roll rubbers

          • @PSEACT: Thinking of the movie American pie but with a bowl of steamy fluffy jasmine rice

      • How does one select decent rice? Genuine question

        • The more money you spend, the more decent rice you get.

Got this for $399 two years ago. Have used it a minimum of once a week since then. Many weeks we use it 3-5 times. Awesome.

    • +3

That would have cost you at least $500 in alfoil and lighters

    • +1

wait till you get a deep fryer and have chips 3 times a week …..much nicer than steamed rice

I bought the Xiaomi Mi induction cooker recently and it's been fantastic. What does this do better for 4x the price?

  • +1

Lol I still used the 10$ one from Kmart 😂😂😂
Anw this Tiger might last 4ever I reckon

  • +1

How about this one.. skip to 8.30.

    • Awesome. I would have grabbed that for sure if it was in Aus.

      • MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC NJ-AWB10-W

Only $1,100 USD go for it.

        • I like having an Aussie plug though, and the writing on the buttons is all in Japanese

          • @PSEACT: Not only that, you'll need a giant brick transformer to step down voltage.

    • its for people who can afford the Grange that's on special …..

      • Hell yeah man. All these chumps paying less than rrp for expensive things. They're all fronting.

  • +1

When you have a chance, try the pressure rice cooker such as Cuchen. Heaps better and it is around 300 dollars. Cheaper and better.

    • Had a quick look. The IH ones seem to be around the $500 mark from what I can see

      • +1

Well, IH is just an heating method which doesn't affect the taste as far as know of.
There is difference between pressure rice cooking and steam (or boil) cooking for sure.
Try next time when you have a chance 😄

        • the IH cooker coil partially surrounds the cooking bowl where as the normal rice cookers just have a disc on the bottom, so IH should be more even cooking with less compacting of the rice …..i stir my rice 1/2 way through cooking so not a big deal for me,

      • -1

the Xiaomi IH is about $160 …. as per someones post earlier in the thread, what does the $500 cooker do that the Xiaomi at 1/3 price can't.

        • +2

Dunno mate I use a lighter and alfoil

          • @PSEACT: Yeah but we are talking about R ice here not ice.

        • Just forget about the overpriced tiger. Xiaomi IH is the way to go.

Is this the same one Uncle Roger uses? if so I want one.

Any suggestions on a good colander to get with this?

      • +1

A good rice colander should have side drain only, not at the bottom. Not too many good quality ones here in Australia, I bought one from Amazon, made in Japan https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00N2WERLG/

Otherwise there are heaps of cheaper and lower quality ones from China, but you're more likely to receive them cracked or bent (I tried a few times and gave up).

        • +1

oh shit, they actually exist? i was just being a smart ass…I thought if you have to drain your rice in a colander, you (profanity) up :)

        • i like that colander …..currently use a sieve as the mesh is nice and fine.

      • Daiso sells a pretty good rice washing colander, mine is now over a year old and in perfect condition, very happy especially considering the price

        • Does it have side drain only? Last time I checked they only have one with bottom drain

Is this for rich c1nts? :p XD.

  • Cook rice in Ocean water.. Save $518.99

Love this rice cooker. We bought ours from Costco online for the same price about a year ago. Highly recommended.

  • +1

I bought three years ago. I return it every year to replace the circuit board JKT2168. Recommend to get extended warranty.

    Anyone experienced similar?
Do I need a surge protector?

    • Heard that long term built-in battery might die but that’s not your specific issue. Surge protector might help, it’s cheap enough to try.

So far ours has been ok for two years no problem plugged straight into wall.

  • How's this compared to zojirushi IH?

    • From what I read zoji is the best for thermos type containers and Tiger best for rice cooking. I've never used a zoji rice cooker myself though. Costco have the 10 cup version of this for $499 at the moment.

      • that's a decent price for 10 cups, I think $439 is the historical low for OZB for JKT18

Thanks OP, was looking for a new rice cooker. If you have Ebay Plus use code AFTPY15 for 15% discount. Buy discounted Ebay gift card from Shopback for extra 3% discount.

I also noticed you can only longer use exclusively gift card to pay for the item if your payment method is Afterpay. You have to leave a small balance to be paid. For this i left an $8.65 balance that was paid with Afterpay.

I just brought the last one, it's not showing OOS.
