    The Intel Pentium B950 is not an "i3 Core".

    The basic architecture might be the same, but it's no different than calling a Core i3-2310M a "i5 Core 2310m" just 'cause they're based on the same architecture.

    I'm looking for a laptop for my graphic design course, it'll mainly be used for the Adobe Products (Photoshop, illustrator, indesign, flash and maybe aftereffects).

    Can anyone comment and help me(poor & noob student) out on this? I can't tell whether it's a good laptop/deal for me. Would be greatly appreciated!

      Budget? There's been plenty of <$500 laptops that should be a better choice than this.
      Do you actually need a laptop? courses usually won't require you to have one. Also Adobe software is pretty expensive if you haven't already got access to copies of it.

      Hi Lam, for graphics, you will require as much Ram as possible mainly as most of the new processors are fast enough to cope with these programs. Obviously an i7 with a high end graphics card would be faster but the price goes up accordingly. With the current 2Gb Ram, this notebook would do the job fine but an extra 2Gb ram can be fitted easily if you find you need it. $399 after Acer Cash back is hard to beat with these specs!

      The Adobe software you are talking about requires a minimum level of grunt to work effectively; don't spend any money until you ask some questions.

    i bought an acer aspire a few years back. acer customer service was pathetic and the computer was alright …. after I had it fixed but the battery, power adapter hard drive and ram all needing replacing within 1 month. have acer improoved any? and what kind of after sales support do you provide? i wont deal with acer again

      Sorry to hear you had a bad experience but I believe most companies have had to pull their socks up in the past few years. We have had no issues with Acer Support which seems on a par with the others such as Toshiba, Asus, etc. :)

      acer customer service was pathetic…

      We use consumer grade Acer gear at work & even though we rarely have trouble with it, due to the best laid plans of mice & men, occasionally stuff fails. However, we have never had a drama with Acer warranty service. Last time I was involved in an RMA it was a simple process…you just log the service request online, someone gets back to you within a few hours to arrange pickup. The courier comes & picks up your stuff, Acer fix/replace it & send it back also via courier, freight free (7-10 days total turnaround IME).

        Your after sales support includes ONLY giving out phone contacts of people contracted to do the repairs. 4 or 5 shops … My last inquiring about Tec support I was given 3 phone numbers to call and their quote exceeded the price of my mini netbook ????. I only wanted to upgrade the ram memmory from 1GB to 2 GB.Unless something changed since last Oct 2011….
