FYI the M1 (2021) iPad Pro 11-in is $1,079.10 on eBay, which is a price difference of $135.10. (+13.3557%)

Assuming you care about CPU performance, Geekbench benchmark on the old A12Z Bionic chip scores 1,126 (Single Core) 4,720 (Multi-core)

the new M1 Chip scores 1,718 and a multi-core score of 7,284 (which equates to 41%~42% performance increase over the old chip)

In other words, if you paid 13.3 percent extra, you'll get a whopping increase of at least 40% in compute performance. You also get a Mini LED display with 2,500 local dimming zones.

And if you look at it another way, $135 dollars extra gives you a 40% performance boost along side the possiblity that Apple will support your iPad with software updates for a much longer period of time (since the M1 chip is much faster, future updates won't slow it down as much)

Just to correct a little portion of your response, there is no mini led display on the 11-inch model.

      Excellent analysis, scrimshaw.
This is the OzBargainers should think.

And to a lesser extent, the M1 iPad has more RAM to work with, 8Gb vs 6Gb. Useful when you have multiple apps and/or Windows in use, or a RAM intensive app.

    • Brilliant thinking, both for the computational gain and for longevity.

Of course, the price difference will be larger if you can take an additional 10% off via the TCN cards promo. By my quick (and possibly faulty) maths 10% off the $944 price reduces it to ~$850. This makes the price difference $229.

FWIW, I'll still pay the extra $229 to get an extra year or three of longevity, plus the very significant CPU boost.

I wish my iPad Pro was faster. said nobody ever…

      • Actually, just last night, one of my kids said this about his iPad Air 4 while playing the latest release of Minecraft. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ First world problems.

  • Am planning to buy this iPad and Apple Pencil 2nd gen using this deal for a subtotal of $1144.

Does anyone know if we can buy 2 x $500 and 1 x $100 TCN Home cards online for $990, per the 10% deal, and the left over $44 by myself?

Never paid using gift cards, but I'm drooling at the prospect of only paying $1000ish instead of $1144.

In coles, the max amount you can get is $100 card and The GoodGuys have a limit of 2 Max gift cards per order so I don't think we can really get 10% discount on the $944 :(

  • Thanks, OP. This is indeed the cheapest price and there is still stock.

Not sure how can we combine 10% using gift cards as good guys don't allow more than 2 gift cards online and as the offer is click and collect, it has to be online.

    Thanks @cloudstrife

I was able to buy this today with 10 gift cards. Good guys didn't have any issues with me using 10 cards in the store. But Online is strictly 2 cards only.

    I used 9x$100 each and 1x$50

    Total amount spent: $855

Cheapest price I've ever seen. Some of the marketplace guys are trying to sell a year old model for around $1000 so $855 for a brand new iPad was a really a good deal.

    • I used 9x$100 each and 1x$50

What did you spend the left over $6 on? ;-)
