  • What does it mean by "This offer is available for new NAB accounts only." ? I previously was an NAB customer but I have since closed all my accounts. Does that mean it applies for me?

NB: NAB requires you to physically go in to a branch to close an account

EDIT: I participated in this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/40649

    • I think it means it doesn't work if those accounts already exist. As in, if you already have a NAB Classic Banking account, a NAB iSaver and any NAB credit card you won't find an extra $50 in your accunt. This is to suck new customers in/customers back. So it SHOULD work…but since I'm probably just talking s**t, ask :)

Oops… I missed an 'O' somewhere in my post…guess it shows what I think of the big banks!

NO DEAL! The credit card is $59 a year so your just getting the first year 'free' read the T&Cs

They tried to sucker me into this deal when I opened a new account with them 2 months ago. I told the guy I have 2 credit cards with no annual fee, I dont need this garbage. He agreed lol

    Edit:

    You could get this card;
    https://www.nab.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/nab/nab/home/personal…
But your still only getting $20 IF you cancel it in 12 months.

this is a dupe of http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60243

    • I'm not really sure this is a bargain in the first place, I mean, Ingdirect had some good deals, one high interest account…this, it sounds like they want you to transfer your life over to them for $50…

But yeah, agree on the dupe

  • And… I remember the awful experiences of a friend, from whom NAB took - 3 times - an undue $38 fee, putting her account -below- the level needed to cover a direct debit payment that she'd arranged.

She's also had 1-off fees taken without justification, & - on each occasion - it took well over 2 weeks to get the undue fees returned… of course, they never apologize.

NAB seems a good place to AVOID relying on, for long-term banking service.

I like ING Direct - 'never been a problem, nor a fee (due or undue) there, in over 10 years of dealing… & they still pay -me- a token $ 0.50 each time I withdraw $200 or more via EFTPOS (rather than bank machine).

    YMMV

    • Nab pretty much don't have fees now. Although the 'once off' charges I dunno.

I've been with them for ages and find them to be good value. But, they have had several royally large debacles with their online banking and I still wonder if they can be trusted not to screw up with my money.

Looks like a one off experience…. I have been with them for years now and they certainly do have some good products.
Did have a computer glitch some time ago like justtoreply mentioned but I think cba,anz and westpac had the same. if i remember correctly they reversed one of my payments because of that glitch and compensated $15.00 or something as a good will fee for the trouble.
I Use their gold account while travelling overseas, never had any drammas and it has saved me a lot of money.
I suppose not any bank can satisfy their entire customers.
Based on my experience and many I know I would certainly reccommend nab.

  • Will this work if you open a Gold Visa debit account ($10/month no international fees/travel ins/etc)?

It says NAB classic banking account only…

a visa debit card is not a credit card
