    It almost matters more when you're learning, cause one jammed rotation can really throw you out.

    Agree I used to use official rubix 3x3 and my god didn't realise how terrible they're until you tried a speed cube.

    I cheaped out and ended up getting a 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and a 5x5 pack in late for around $35 delivered via Amazon Prime and they're great.

  Echoing others in saying that the rubik's cube movement mechanism is rubbish. Really slow and creaky compared to newer variants. Searching for speedcube on aliexpress shows a number of products at less than half the cost.

  Definitely don't get the standard one.
  I see some other options in the comments but wanted to mention speedcube.
  Local store and stock and cheapest cube is like $5 but I would recommend those around the $15 mark.
