    seagate hdd + 320gb + usb 2.0 = meh

    • ++1

Seagate have had such a bad rap it's hard to imagine buying one at any price…

But, otoh, if anyone knows of a cheap Hitachi 2Tb-3Tb USB 3.0 Sata-3 deal then I'd be keen.

Didn't know they still manufacture 320gb drives.

Good for the xbox hdd. Gotta do a bit of homework though.

    • No its not…
buy at own peril for xbox…

      • hence gotta do a bit of homework :)

    • Any more work than a 2.5inch drive from apc store?

I want to replace my 500gb with a 1tb but some of these usb drives dont have a standard sata interface on the internal drive.

Anyone know if it will work inside a ps3?

    • +1

      should do

  • +1

    Definitely old stock……

    • I dunno, there must be a percentage of 1tb drives that fail the manufacturer's testing when formatted to 1tb…

  • This 320gb should be good for those who have set top boxes with PVR function that needs an external drive. The usb alone is enough to power these 320gb drives. Some bigger drives needs more juice and an external power supply.

    • Physically bigger (3.5") require a separate power supply. All 2.5" drivers (up to 1.5TB currently?) do not require separate power

  • How does the link work, it opens in a new window but none of the links work.

I don't understand why people are always so smart and skilled.
I think it's a common practice to post a direct link to the product's shop, maybe this is ozbargain's rule too?

    • lol you gotta be kidding me.

      • hahah can you imagine someone clicking the screencap as if it was live!

btw. it is a bit depressing about HDD prices… I bought a Verbatim 320Gb for $48 close onto 2yrs ago…

      • +1

Agreed - but you also gotta agree that linking to a screen capture is VERY lame of the OP.

        • +1

its easier to bang a link in rather than do a screencap

but yeah… its officeworks, it says its a seagate 320gb… a search on their webpage is trivial

  • anyone know if these are sata drives int he enclsoure? I want a small HDD for a linux project on a laptop so cheap = good.

    • +1

Yes, they are sata drives. I just bought one and ripped it apart.

      • Thanks, stuck at work so can't pull it apart.
Mine has a build date of 10/2011, so it is not that old. Made in China.

Kmart sells verbatim 500gb USB2.0 for $69. $14 more for %50 more storage.

  • Does this mean that the prices of hard drives are coming back to their pre-Thailand flood prices again ? The floods have been gone a long time but retailers are still using it as an excuse to jack up their prices.

    • +1

Sorry, my crystal ball is in for repairs at the moment.

(But this one is probably cheap because it is old stock)

      • both wdc and seagate reckon they'll be back online 100% in thailand after june

so for this xmas expect it to be reasonably similar to pre-flood

I went to OfficeWork.com.au and couldn't find any deals there. All I could see on the site was:

    Office Work
    employment search engine
    Site is currently under maintenance

  • Slightly off topic, can anyone tell me if the 1TB seagate in this range is a standard 9mm SATA?
