That's what their overpriced offerings are worth, half the price. Just check eatability.com.au and comments on previous deals posted on OzBargain. A half-price deal would be better, don't have to take another person.

Gourmet prices, without the gourmet food.

      And no chocolate icecream!

      • +5

You guys crack me up! I would also be suspicious about "present voucher at time of order", why? So they can ensure that you get only half of the meal/service?

        • +4

definitely been my experience in regards to using vouchers in general, cant plus that enough…

anyone who requires you to show it up front must be planning on giving you less service or upsell you one way or another…

you wouldnt get standard service - or why would they need to know up front…

        • You don't understand, they wanna give you special food for a special guess lol

  • They used to be great when they first opened but on my last few visits the food was slop. BOGOF helps I suppose…

Their food tasts like sub $10 Chinese/HongKong cafe dish if not worse.

    • -1

:-) You all make me laugh!!! :-)

    • +8

I think you're being a bit harsh on the quality of Chinese/HongKong cafes; they are usually less than $10, and taste way better.
As for Wagamama, you couldn't pay me to eat there.

      • +1

:O Right, I should have been more confident to state WORSE. Dont get me wrong, I am a usual HongKong cafe visitor =).

  • Total agree with all the comments here so far. Someone used to say you pay restaurant price for a food court quality food. Only been to one in Canberra last year, very disappointing. Only good thing I can say is the waitresses are good looking and friendly, but I was going there to eat, not to perve.

    • +4

      There is a difference.

Food court food is presented as food court food.

Wagamama takes that food and presents it on a shiny plate in an interesting way.

Too bad your mouth doesn't care what your food looks like…

For me, Wagamama is now the benchmark for dry chicken. Before dining there, I had no idea char-grilled chicken breast could taste like cardboard.

  • +2

Have been there 3 times and all 3 times i have found their food bland and boring (thought i would give a few places a go, thinking it was just the location, but nope, its the recipe) for what you pay for.

  • Interesting comments. I have frequented the one in Subiaco, Perth, and found the food to be delicious, particularly the sweet chilli calamari and one of the chicken skewer dishes (can't remember what it's called). However, haven't been for a year, so perhaps it has gone downhill, or perhaps different wagamamas serve different quality food

    • A lot of it has to do with the cost and what you get for that money…

Yes I've had the calamari and it was nice, but the serving was tiny and the cost was huge.

  • I agree, i'm not a fan of their food either. The service is generally pretty poor and what really annoys me is that they bring your food out at different times, i know it warns you on the menu, but that is just a lazy way of doing things. The sweet potato chips are good though. I'd rather eat sushi or something i'm never going back to wagamamma again, especially with the quality of some food courts these days.

  • lol - the food is pretty bland every time… China town has more options as an alternative example…

  • wagamama .. ?! yuck.

  • Yeah I also got fairly bland, extremely overpriced food. The juice was nice, but also overpriced. Won't be going back again, ever.

Stop giving up votes for a shitty deal. I hope their company goes into administration with the way they treat customers. I am sure they know their food is shit but they dont do shit. Sign of a profit greedy shit company.

    • Or at least I hope they read these comments (if their marketing team has Google Alerts) and actually does something about it to benefit and improve their quality for price, service etc… I never want to see a company fail unless they really dont give to s*&^s

      • -1

Almost 2 years and I don't see a change. I hope they fail. Can't believe retards still go there to dine I mean seriously.

    • I don't understand.

You don't want to pay $6 for a glass of juice? :-)

Ok, by reading all the comments in here, it is pretty obvious that most of the people here don't like Wagamama, myself included. However, I have to question all the neg voters, what is the objective of the neg? Are you saying that you will always neg Wagamama deals posted on Ozbargain because you don't like the quality of food and service there. If so, I believe, you should take it up to the mods saying that please ban Wagamama deals here because no one likes their food and service, else, just leave your comments here about poor quality food and service and don't neg the deal into oblivion so that you hide it from those people to whom this would be useful.

    • +2

Yeah, negging is counterproductive because it prevents the opinion from being seen.

They are saying that at 50% off its not a bargain, this is the place for bargains.

While I don't exactly agree with the negative votes, if this was truly a deal it would have 20+ positive votes at the moment and the negs wouldn't matter.

And that's why a community run site works :)

      • Members are free to neg if they think that was the right feedback then some excited strangers here want to rule differently so they can still apply to be a mod then they can rule forum lol.

I do always check nearly any threads and especially the ones which have many negs.

      • They are saying that at 50% off its not a bargain

I'd say irrespective of the retailer/service… 50% off is a bargain…. Whether you dislike the food or consider it poor value, or not is an opinion, and shouldn't be used to justify negative voting.
Happy for people to comment on their personal experiences…. happy for people to offer alternatives… offering something useful…. that's why a community site works.

Negging just removes it from view of the community, whether they like the product or not…. along with the information given by the neggers….. lose - lose for ozbargainers

@xotic your comment is not constructive.

  • +2

Negging something because it is bad value is one thing - but negging a deal because you believe it is bad value because you don't like the product itself is entirely different (and not how we should be voting).

I won't positive vote this because I personally don't think it is good value (as like others I am not a fan of the food). But for those who eat there already as it is at full price (and it does seem popular enough) this deal might be good for them.

    • Amen to that…..

    • Those people deserve to shit eat food if they are stupid enough not to realise they can get better food at a cheaper price.

  • Notice how this restaurant is not even in the slightest bit interested in addressing all of these negative comments. It speaks volumes of their attitude towards food and their clientelle. I almost took them to Consumer Affairs over their inability to post points to membership cards, but instead I've decided that I won't eat there anymore. So glad to see a few of them shutting down too.

    • how would they even know it has been posted?….. not posted by a rep, and the negs ensure it's disappeared from view

  • +1

Anyone going to forward this post to Wagamama's bosses?
2 for 1 Deal is not working, improved the quality of food is the ONLY way!

Those dollar shops selling craps for 60% off as always, why no one post them on ozbargain?
