[Unobtainable Deal] Hamburger $0.20 (via mymacca's App) @ McDonald's

Moved to Forum: Original Link

~hii first post~

Maccas is doing a 20 cent hamburger deal at maccas in AUS for its 50th celebration. The deal is only redeemable through the Mymaccas app; meaning you have to use the QR code the app generates and either do an online order or go instore.

Times of deal officially are July 16th 12:00am - 11:59pm.

Deal is capped at 250,000 hamburgers, only one redeemable per mymaccas account. (Though it isn't hard making multiple accounts)

App Download Link (QR Code scanning required)

There are more deals and things occurring for the 50th celebration. Will post soon!

edit

Hi sorry for any confusion. If you try searching for this promotion your not going to find it as it's from the crew promotional booklet. I tried adding a screenshot of it but it didn't seem to work.
Hope that helps!!

Mod: It appears that this promotion (and likely other 50th birthday celebration deals) was cancelled or postponed. Moved to forums.

  • Is this an offer rewards thing or normal where you can order multiple

    • +1

I can almost guarantee that it's gonna be an offer rewards thing, we'd bankrupt Macca's if it wasn't XD

    • +18

      Well you failed miserably then

    • You could say, "thanks OP" if you don't know what to say.

  • Can I get x10 units?

  • +4

Ok. Can someone please work out how many sacrificial cows? Thanks

    • +1

      About 57.

      • Fiddy Seven Beefy Cows

    • +2

I'm not so sure the cows were 'sacrificed'. I don't think the abattoir staff had time to lay the cows down in a bed of flowers before slaughtering them in front of the gods.

  • +5

don't forget there is a hack out there if you ask for a slice of cheese on the side it's only 30c extra, give it a try
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8779223/McDonalds-c…

    • +22

Uh… I'll just bring my own cheese

      • +3

        Respect

      • Great idea, I've got some in the fridge I can just take a slice with me 😂

    • +8

That's more than double the price of the burger. Hand in your ozb licence.

      • No it’s not, hand in your calculator 😂 (50% more)

        • 30c extra for cheese + 20c for hamburger itself = 50c total which is more than double than just buying the hamburger for 20c

    • +1

I value my dignity so thanks anyway but I'll bring my own cheese.

    • +1

If you do that, that green gooey thing in the middle of your hamburger is not a pickle.

  • -4

Is this offer for a small hamburger or a large?

    • +2

      yes

    • +4

They do one size fits all.

    • Mini.

  • what is it for this Friday ?

    • -2

      No it's 4 Fridays away.

      • Nah, meaning what is the deal for this upcoming Friday

  • -1

    Source link for this offer?

  • +2

Is it 1 per customer or is it as many as you want?

    • +3

If its like yesterdays it will be 1 only based on rewards code. Given its capped at 250,000 id say its capped to 1 only.

      • Imagine if it wasnt and someone has a spare $50k to spend. We could pick one store and send the entire staff on stress leave.

    • +3

      I’ll take 250,000 please.

    • From the info I know, it's one per account. But who said u can't make more than one account

  • +8

Thanks for the early notice. Gonna start fasting for July 16

  • +5

I wouldn’t recommend a hamburger to my worst enemy, even free.. they're so dry, like eating a thick piece of cardboard

    • +4

at least it's warm, moist cardboard

      • My wife took offence at that, I never can figure the flash point in a woman

    • So edgy bro.

    • Hamburgers will always be my favourite.

  • +3

Everything from MD's has been disgusting and overpriced.

    • +1

So 20c for a burger is overpriced in 2021?

      • +1

When it tastes that bad and is equally bad for you, id rather waste my calories on something enjoyable. 0.20c is still overpriced for something that poor but everyone's different

      • +7

This burger always used to be $1 lol
To call it a "burger" is even being generous. It's a wafer thin patty on a small roll with sauce.

        • Sounds like a burger to me lmao. And if you want less cardboard tasting meat ask for fresh

          • @Matcha Latte: I get the dirtiest looks if I ask for a $6 burger to be made fresh. I'm not sure I'm game for a 20c one aha

  • +1

Anyone else having problems with the Mymaccas app no longer working on Android? Even after reinstalling, it just freezes and can't click on anything.

    • +8

The Maccas app is gash. I am astounded how a company of that size has made such a mess of it for so long.

      • Have you seen the HJs one? I don't know if it's just my phone but that app lags it like no other I've ever used.

  • +2

lol it’s not worth it, even if it was free

  • +7

There is no link and, after extensive googling, no reference to this. How do we know this isn't fake hype

    • +2

still prolly end up with 600 votes

    • Also OP’s stats: member since 2019, 1 post, 0 comments.

      • Which the member since is actually the Google/linked accounts creation. Not the registration date, unless they've changed it.

    • It may be true, but yes, some evidence would be nice.

    • +4

The person in the deal below mentioned it was on the Today show and it was discussed that there are more deals coming for the 50th Anniversary celebrations. So this deal is quite possibly correct.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/630883

And a quick Google search mentions 3 months worth of deals coming

      https://www.kidspot.com.au/lifestyle/home/mcdonalds-selling-…

      And again

      https://kitchen.nine.com.au/latest/mcdonalds-slash-the-price…

See, wasnt hard to look up was it?

    • +1

Hii! You can't find it online because it's from the crew promotional booklet. I tried adding the screenshot but it didn't seem to register it as being there

  • +2

Someone remind me in 26 days

    • +3

Just set a reminder on the deal for the day it starts (or day before for 26 days).

  • +6

    What is 'GMA'?

Do not use abbreviations that are not common…

    • +1

      Good morning America

    • Genomic Medicine Alliance

    • +2
      • I guess someone could guess.

But they already mention 'mymaccas app' which is completely unambiguous. Then to add another abbreviation, that adds nothing and just confuses, completely unnecessary.

    • +1

I think they meant GMO but just made a typo..

  • unlimited I hope.

  • Which hamburger is this for?

    • +5

      It’s for the hamburger.

      • +1

        Oh i see

      • +1

Formally known as a junior burger.

  • +2

"This can only be redeemed via GMA and is only available for 1 day."
What does GMA refer to here? Sorry if this is something obvious.

    • +3
      • +1

        Global Mobile App

Ok, but what's a Global Mobile App?

        • +3

Presumably, the Global Mobile App refers to the single mobile app used by McDonalds worldwide. For example, the US McDonald's app is suspiciously similar to the mymacca's app if you take a look at the screenshots. They probably are the exact same app except that the branding on the Australian app is different.

          • +1

            @mcpower:

Presumably, the Global Mobile App refers to the single mobile app used by McDonalds worldwide

You'd think so, but I'm pretty sure the "mymaccas" is the only option for online orders.

            • @ash2000: Same app - just different name in different countries.
Nobody else in the world calls McDonald's "Macca's"

    • +3

It's not obvious, and nor is it helpful using such abbreviations.

  • +12

All good but how hard is it to simply say “the app” instead of trying to be fancy with “GMA”?

  • A burger for ants

  • There will be Covid carnage at the McDs with those queues …

    • +5

Think more people were interested in the 50 cent big mac tbh. That was okay, this isn't worth my time.

      • Yep agreed. The hamburger is usually a punishment for naughty kids so can't imagine a huge line for these. I would consider this deal for a cheeseburger but i wouldnt bother with a hamburger even if it was free.

  • +3

16th July is my birthday!! Maybe I should get hubby to buy it as a birthday present 🎁

    • +2

I think we've found the easiest person to please in Australia

      • +1

        Or the more sarcastic?

  • +1

I drive past two Maccas on the way to work, so I duck into both & use two accounts. Picked up two 50 cent BigMacs on the friday just gone :D

    • +1

you can just order twice in the same maccas

  • +1

That's the thing with these McD offers, you only get one burger per account.
So pretty much useless for a family.

The only one that's useful is the 20% off on the whole order, which they offer occasionally.

    • It's easy to go to McDonald's with the family and everyone orders on their phone.

  • This is about the right price for these.
