First time poster, long time lurker, sorry if I miss something.

Have been in the market for a Robovac, got notification that the Ozmo T8 is currently $599 for Prime members, down from $999. It is also $599 at JB Hi Fi.

The real sweetener here is there is promotion with the Ozmo T8 purchase, they add in the Ozmo Pro mopping system valued at $169 for free, essentially making the vacuum $430. The Pro mopping system is said to massively increase the mopping performance of the vacuum.

Be careful - I added both to cart using their link and the T8 came out to $999 with the free mop system. If you add each item individually it should show the cart as being $768, but when you proceed to checkout it should show total price to pay as $599.

Hopefully this make sense and helps someone.
Cheers

This or the Roborock S5 Max, or the S6 Pure? I don't really care about mopping, just vacuuming (two dogs + carpet).

  • How would this compare to the new S7 even? Better value?

    • +2

S7 is meant to be very good and will be better than the T8 .. check on youtube .. but for $1000+

The T8 is the sweet spot … full mapping but not $1000.

Not sure the extra features are worth the 100% price increase.

I've had my T8 for a few weeks ($599 at JB) and it is very good .. happy.

      • The S7 went as low as $934 about a week ago. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/630483
At that price, it's a tough decision

      • Mind me asking what floors have you got? Does it transition from hard floors to carpet ok?

        • +1

          half carpet and half timber

yes .. the T8 easily recognises the differences in floors and ramps up the vacuum rate on the carpet .. i haven't used the mop yet.

i think the iRobot has better carpet vacuuming capabilities .. from tests and just a visual look at the design.

like all robots, it doesn't seem like amazing vacuum strength for carpet but if you are vacuuming every few days then it seems fine to me .. and as good as once every fortnight with a full power vacuum.

    • I'm in the market for an s7 as well, let me know what you decide :)

    • I was in the market for the S7 maxV when it comes out, expecting $1,000 +. But doing a bit of research, for $599, I think this is a bargain.

    • +2

any thoughts on the N8+ ? How does it compare ? It's available with the autodump station for $749

      • Interested to know if anyone has any inputs

  • How does the mopping hold up on this? Better than S5 Max? Any ownership reviews?

    • youtube direct tests will be better than whirlpool opinions.

good luck finding someone that has both.

What does this have that the viomi v2 or v3 can't do?

From what I've read the mapping is important in. Robot vacuum, is the viomi more inaccurate than these?

  • This or s5 max?

    • seems a tight battle .. i went for the T8 because I could walk into JB and use it that day.

  • I read a couple underwhelming reviews of the t8 that stopped me pulling the trigger. Oh, and this model comes with bags, yeah?

FWIW JB currently has this listed for the same price but without the attachment so they may price match.

I'm also interested in reviews of the N8.

Currently thinking I may just cheap out and opt for the Dreame D9 for $340ish from ebay.

    • all the reviews seem pretty inconsistent from my week of research … rtings, choice, youtube channels.

      • Have been waiting for a good deal on S5 Max - like a lot of people. Tempted by this deal but put off by some of the underwhelming reviews - noting a lot of good reviews too. So still interested.

Given your research, why did you end up getting T8? Presumably yours didn't come with the Pro mopping system so this is probably a relatively good deal (if the Pro system is any good).

        • The reviews didnt seem like massive differences so pretty similar …. and the T8 was just a walk across the road to JB to pickup.

If JB stocked the S5 Max, then would have preferred that one for the same price ie $599.

Ohhhh, thaaaat's right. The deal breaker for me with the t8 is that it only saves 2 levels and my place is 3 levels. Have read a few comments from folks in same situation strongly advising against it for that scenario.

I'm considering between this T8 and the Dreame D9 as well. Saw a pretty comprehensive review on the T8 here and the D9 here. Seems like the T8 is only slightly better than the D9 in terms of cleaning performance. Not sure if the T8 is worth an extra $250, but it's tempting given that people are happy with the T8 even when they've bought at RRP.

  • Not sure why Amazon doesn't stock the T9+ All retailers have it.

  • Looks like the deal is dead. No more promo for the pro attachment :(

  • i try to add the machine and the accessory separately but the price showing $768 at checkout

    • Click on add to cart at $599
Then click on promotion and add both to cart
Now to to cart and remove the more expenses one from cart, it should show as $599 and free mop pro.

Looks like the promo has ended

  • I have the T8 AIVI which is pretty much the same but has a camera and alleged better navigation. I love it but my god, the (profanity) app.
Slow, times out regularly trying to query information. Push alerts appear 20 minutes after an event and then there's my favourite where the map of the house just decides to simply not exist or the map is there but the robot doesn't want to use it. You can spend hours curating different borders and different zones only for the app to just discard whatever it is you had. How hard is it to store it as a (profanity) local xml file or something and just eliminate the possibility of having to set everything up again?

    • More I research on robo vacuum more I get confused.
      T8 Vs T8 AIVI.
      S5max Vs S7
      Eufy L70
      tiles and carpet, no pets.
already watched the video on Vacuum wars and I have narrowed to this.
      Anyone with any more inputs?

      • I’m like you. Experiencing analysis paralysis lol

        • one more.
Kogan got Au version vs International version - what is the difference? more confusion.
as true bargainer - cant ignore the price difference.

          • +1

@sydneybargainer: Dunno but Kogan is just going to sell you a Chinesium version of a legitimate product and make profit from it. I don't buy anything from them.

A few key things I have noticed
        1. I don't believe the camera on the camera models provides any benefit other than adding 3-400 dollars. Unless you really love the idea of having a mini security drone in your house that you can remotely move around and look at what's going on, the supposed "better detection of objects" is a load of bullshit. Put a phone cable on the ground, every vacuum is going to tangle that shit up and complain about it.
        2. Watch out for the hybrid models that suck and mop and how they detect surfaces. The one thing that got me across the line with the Ecovacs was the automatic surface detection, meaning it could go around the house with it's mop and only apply it to hard surfaces. Most of the other models on the market at the time just treat the floor as one surface and you have the possibility of mopping rugs/carpet if you don't explicitly tell it not to go there.
        3. Auto-empty stations. A lot of technology and cost into saving you 4 and a half seconds. If you're regularly cleaning the floor, like you should, you shouldn't have the scenario where you need to empty the bin repeatedly. Just a waste of money at their current price point imo.

        • Interesting.
          1. I agree with you.
          2. Which Ecovacs have you got ?
          3. Not interested in Auto empty station.

          • +1

@sydneybargainer: I have the T8 AIVI. In hindsight I would have been happy with the plain old T8 but I haven't rolled out my traditional vac since December when I picked it up. Other than a few ad-hoc cleans where the robot couldn't get to, it has completely outsourced vacuuming. Single storey 35sq house, hardwood floors plus a bunch of rugs.
Mopping is average which is kind of expected on these units. It's like a basic wipe over, it's not going to spot clean. It's good to maintain a level of cleanliness but you're still going to have to do a proper mop every few weeks or however long you can tolerate.

            • @whichwhatwho: Thanks for input.
do you use ozmo pro mopping or standard inbuild mopping?

            • @whichwhatwho: These are good points. Am in the same "which model?" decision mode.

              1) What do you think of this review which pans the T8's vacuuming ability? - https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/ecovacs-deebot-ozmo-t8

              2) Is the T8 or the S5 Max or the S7 a better choice if you want vacuuming & mopping?

              3) Does the T8's automatic surface detection work as well as you had hoped, ie. zero mopping of carpets and always mopping hard surfaces?

              4) Are any of the above models worthy of upgrading from the older Roborock S50? ie. do they perform significantly better?
