so jelaous i really wish i have laptop with c gen 2

  •

Looks like a good deal, but 1650? Even 1650Ti's are coming in at the same price point now

  • +1 vote

1650 non-super trails behind GTX 1060 in performance. I don't think you'll be able to make use of that 144hz panel.

Unless it's an older game like Counter Strike GO

  •

Is it 144hz? Can't seem to find it in the description.

    • +1 vote

Yes it mentions it in the tech specs if you scroll down on the ebay site a bit.

Quite frankly I think it's an amazing price for a very decent laptop.

It's a quad core with a 1650 in a large plastic chassis with a tiny battery. It's not that good.

I'd like to know what LCD panel it has as that may be the saving grace if it's bright and capable of a decent colour gamut.

Yeah this isn't great value in the long-run. I recently got the Nitro 3060 shitbox from Harvey norman for 1298 stacked with 150 free logitech gear, couple free games from Intel and got around $70 off using HN giftcards.

Still a shitbox nonetheless but would outperform this thing in a big way.

        •

I mean that's 50% more cost but yeah the value happens if you are willing to bump up the spend.

          • +1 vote

@gakko: 880 to 1230 is actually around 33% increase. And obviously the % difference argument weakens considerably as you go down to the budget end as the actual % doesn't equate to as high of a $ difference.

Incidentally if you were to use the 150 on logitech products and even resold them at 100 your looking at an 1130 purchase on the 3060. Which is closer to a %25 difference (or $250 difference) for a card that performs around 100% better.

            So yeah. Logic.

            •

              @Canberralad92: (1300/880)-1=47%
If I don't count the HN gift card which no one is going to use.

dont care about thrown in logitech junk.

              • +1 vote

@gakko: Why wouldn't you use a giftcard that returns 5% of your spend in a couple days via cashback?? You don't even have to wait long for it to track and redeem etc as it's a giftcard. Lol. Took me 2 minutes to buy the cards online via shopback while I was in store to save around 65 bucks.

Also who would bawk at 150 bucks of free stuff than can easily be resold, in the event you dont need a new keyboard/mouse/headset??

Hand in your ozb licence. Cheers!

            •

@Canberralad92: You can also mine ethereum to recoup costs on the 3060 laptop we are comparing to, if your that way inclined (around $2.50 per day on an 85w 3060 card) whereas you wouldn't bother on a 1650.

With this in mind you could actually pay off the difference of the 2 machines in around 4 months.

      •

The panel is Korean LG and as such very good

        •

Could you please provide where you are getting the panel information from?

          •

@studentl0an: From a video review on the YouTube. Delivered today and the screen had to be turned down 50% it will sear your retina inside a lit room.

    300 nits

    • +3 votes

The last time you posted the nit value of a laptop screen you were wrong, so where are you getting this brightness value from?

      • +4 votes

I don't know why, but I find this exchange hilarious.

        • +1 vote

Someone's got nit related beef to sort out ;)

          • -2 votes

@Canberralad92: 300 nits is pretty good though.

Sub $1000 by a good margin and features even a boomer likes
Take a look at what you get for hard earned $$$
I think it is an amazing price for specs and many would agree.
It will play noice on my big screen IPS LED.
What every one wants does not exist but sub Sub $1000 it is a stonking deal
and I have found in life, Fatter women at that weight nag you less if you work them harder
      If you get my drift

      • +1 vote

Please broden 10 of these and leave the good laptop deals for the rest of us ;)

  •

That's a great price, but if they're quoting "up to" 5 hours battery life, I think gaming time will be closer to 1 hour.

    • +1 vote

It's a 41 watt hour battery. It will be lucky to get 40 minutes.

I prefer Lenovo over MSI for reliability and durability

      •

how much faster would the msi be though for gaming?

        • +3 votes

The msi would be significantly faster in gaming as it has dedicated graphics vs the onboard integrated in the lenovo. (Bear in mind if you only play retro games integrated radeon graphics does the job)

The lenovo will be better in likely every single other aspect.

If you are gaming and can save a little more I would recommend going for an entry tier current gen laptop instead. An entry level 3060 would absolutely eclipse the 1650s performance in gaming. The 8gb ram is the only downside to the below. But if you don't run alot of apps at once its fine. Don't forget to stack giftcards and redeem $150 of free logitech/astro/blue mic stuff in store + intel game promo.

    •

That Lenovo seems to be oos now

  •

    Almost 100% srgb

    •

60% sRGB according to Tech Spurt https://youtu.be/l_H0SFkh4Yg?t=219

      •

Well you have to look at what he is talking about, That was a 120Hz screen as reviewed, this one is 144Hz and has Wifi 6 because no one I know tethers to an ethernet. I would link another review of this exact spec but a I7 chip that shows just under 500nits . Seriously, for the price of $879.20 delivered and eye watering specs and connectivity and options for 4K Off base screen, NO solder RAM so RAM can go 64GB + space for a second SSD HD, I could go on but…
I brought one because I cannot fault for the price of a dirty weekend away and 8 months ago this was 3 x the price.OZ bargain rocks
Thank you OP, I will retire my Toshiba Satellite to a needy Kid

        •

It's 60% sRGB and and 45% AdobeRGB. It's still good value for money everything considered but it certainly ain't "almost 100% srgb" as much as you wish it was

          • -1 vote

@DisabledUser391884: But value for money. If you can find better buy it … I didn't buy better because it was not found and I am tighter than a tight ass (c) on Meth
Actually played with one today with the I5 … Better get right with God for it was eye watering good, … actually it was amazing
I did buy one because seriously you have proved to the entire field of tight asses on OZ bargain @$ 879.20 delivered is not (LOL) a Bargain.
            Please come again.
