These things are perfect for kids watching youtube, netflix etc and light gaming…just pair with one of those "shockproof" case on ebay and sorted for years.

Not sorted for years, my child smashed the screen 2 months in. It had a tempered glass cover AND one of those “shockproof cases”. I was quoted today “about $310” to fix.

      • Physical damage doesn't make a tablet no good tho

        • Correct, the tablet itself is perfect for kids I agree. Just don't be fooled by those cases claiming to fully protect it. Better than having no case but a drop at the right angle and it's shattered. Literally costs more to replace the screen than it does to just buy a new one

          • @bbnoSam: Really depends on the case you get as I have had heaps of good cases that can handle kids dropping and throwing onto tiles. Given they were ipads

LTE version is $264 at Telstra

    • +2

Got one yesterday, ordered the day before. Not using the 4G but for 14$ more than prime day it was worth it just in case. Only disappointment about it is the screen isn't great, I'm very sensitive to ghosting and such. They also cheap out on the charger and cable.

      • Telstra's $264 is actually $60 more than prime day
The non LTE version was $249, then combine with $20 cashback from shopback,
also 5%-10% gift card if you stock them in advance
it comes down to $204 for me

        • +2

You needed to buy within the window. Cheaper only for a few. If you are paying the same you might as well just pay a little extra for 4g IMO

      • Did you need to order it with a Telstra plan to get it at this price?

        • +2

you'll need a Telstra ID, but not a current active plan
you may also want to try to call Officeworks hotline, sometimes they may be able to price beat by 5%

        • Just select outright otherwise you can still do 12 or 24m device only.

    • If I don't need LTE is it worth getting this version over the wifi version for resale value only or is there any other benefit?

      • +1

The advance could be that if needed you can pop sim in and use as a phone.

  • is it australian version?

    • +1

yes, also it comes with Android 11 after you update it

      • ok and purely from a consumption standpoint, this will be fine to get for netflix/youtube/twitch over wifi? i won't have any issues? and no point in really going up a model

        • Yeah, all good for videos, internet, zoom etc, may not be powerful enough for demanding games thou

        • +2

I've got one and it's perfect for Netflix/Youtube etc (it's the main reason I got it).
