It's been quite a while since any Xiaomi tablets have been posted, so here's the brand new Redmi Pad 2 that's intended to be a more budget friendly tablet at a good price. A good option for general usage, media streaming and mid to light gaming. Stack with 13% cashback at TCB and AliExpress Store Credit cashback for further savings.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate at time of posting and GST inclusive.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

  • Could use AEAU30 to get an extra $10 off but you might lose out on cashback.

    • There's no such thing as losing cashback for coupon usage at AliExpress. Thanks updated.

      • Really? Even the coupons you can win? What about coins?

        • +6

Yep. Same with seller/store coupons, coins/coin super deals, prize land coupons, bundle deals etc. As long as the product is affiliated you're good to go.

          • @Clear: Hey Clear. I bought a 7800X3D with topcashback US that was affiliated and yet, months later, they cancelled my cashback. I'm trying to file an appeal request but it'll be even more months before they hear back from the Ali vendor. Any ideas?

            • @Celeriestix: The rules may be different for the US. I know for Australia it's allowed.

ohhh they finally made it to G100…

how does it compare to SD8G2 or Dimensity 6300?

    • Nanoreview's rankings are a good source and you can compare. G100 is ranked 109 and Dimensity 6300 is 106.

    • +2

Far, far behind the 8 Gen 2, about the same as Dimensity 6300

  • +1

Nice to see competition in the budget cn tablet space

  • +1

good to see it has an sd card slot!

What's your take on this versus the Xiaoxin pad?

    • +6

Depends on your use case as the Xiaoxin Pad Pro is pretty much a flagship tablet, while this is part of Xiaomi's budget range. If it's purely for media streaming, Netflix, YouTube etc. and maybe some of the more basic games, then this is more than enough. Otherwise if you're really needing the extra performance or want a larger screen, grab the Xiaoxin Pad Pro.

Damn only a 410K antutu score this would be pretty laggy even for normal use cases in 2025.

        • the performance gap between "just enough to not lag in day to day use" vs "game-able" vs flagship is HUGE.

          • @OMGJL: And usually the gap between usable and unusable is the RAM. Buy the local Lenovo shit for this price and get 4GB 🤮

          • @OMGJL: It will lag in day to day use though is what I'm saying. The micro stutters drives you crazy!

  • I know it's expired now, but do the TopCashback US AliExpress deals work with the regular monthly coupons?

    • +2

I'm confident in saying that it would, as AliExpress strongly encourage cashback partners to show coupons.

what about this one: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005009076165987.html? specs seems similar

    • +2

That's another I've been eyeing lately. Dimensity 6300 is a tad better than the G100, has GPS, display seems fairly identical on paper and you're able to get the 8GB RAM configurations with that. The battery does come in smaller at 7400mAh and you'll be getting the CN ROM (vs Xiaomi with Global ROM) which will have a few things still in Chinese after changing to English. Arguably I rate ZUI higher than Lenovo's global stock ROM as it gets more/better features first.

Also not affiliated for TCB 13% cashback sadly :(

  • +1

I'm getting "For security reasons your request can't currently be processed" when trying to enter the longer discount code 84QP9TSX6XFC, the AEAU30 one applied fine though. Anything I need to do for that code to work?

  • Any decent tablets under 400 with an Oled panel?

  • Can this be used as external monitor for laptop via usb?

    .

    • +2

It can't do display over USB-C in or out, only USB 2.0 data & charge.

  • how is this tablet V the lenovo xioxin pro you posted couplem days ago?

  • thanku, just purchased it then

  • 2nd order got to pay US$10 extra and 3rd order doesn't allow the AEAU30 code. Got my $27.29 cashback tracked instantly.

  • Any ideas if this will run Zwift well?

  • Thank you @Clear

I'm very concerned with Chinese spy ware on these AliExpress devices.

    • +1

Don't worry. Our own government is watching you too

      • Rather our own than the Chinese Communist Party. I pick the lesser evil.

  • Anyone has deal for redmi smart pen?

  • what do you use for this one?

  • Anyone know of any custom ROMs for this model?

    • +1

Too early since it's only been out for 2 weeks.

  • this vs Lenovo tab?
