  • Anyone tried to unlock dual sim in jb hifi deal phone

  • bought one from Jb a few months ago. Great phone but they are locked to Telstra so your Android updates need to go through Telstra for approval. Means that you will be a few months behind the faster general release program. I cant update to Android 11 because it broke my Android Auto.

    • +1

So they are unlocked, but not really unlocked? You could use, say, an Optus SIM but are still somehow tied to Telstra?

      • correct. u can use other SIMs but the firmware seems to be locked to Telstra. I guess you could jail break it. I havent tried

        • +1

Assume that I am a moron when it comes to these things (because that would be correct). What is the practical implication of this, compared to buying a fully unlocked phone?

          • +1

@Astronaut Joe: I bought my my Oppo Find X2 Pro Telstra version through JBHIFI a few months ago too & have updated to Android 11 with no problem.

I cant say its fully unlocked (firmware) as Im using Boost which does run through the Telstra network but it should be fully unlocked (sim) for other Telcos from my understanding

          • +2

@Astronaut Joe: this has some telstra app pre installed, you can uninstall them all. for the software update, you will get all those "fully unlocked"version get. but it could be a little delayed. normally oppo is doing good pushing updates.

  • +2

Excellent phone. Bought the Jb deal.

  • Hey W1James. JB seemed to be clearing out their Realme X3 SuperZooms the other day. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/627392

Any chance wireless1 is going to be doing any specials on them as well?

    • +1

      +1 also interested.

    • I am also interested

  • I am using optus network. Does it mean I can't use it? Anyone knows?

    • you can, these are network unlocked.

  • you are a little late,W1. brought the neo from ebay deal with giftcard still cheaper than your 389. otherwise will buy the pro from you guys,

  • So these are just the OnePlus 9 Pro and the Nord right?

    • Oneplus 8 Pro… But yeah pretty much

  • +2

If only it was not the Telstra variant ๐Ÿ˜”

  • Damn that battery is a bit small for such a powerful phone.

  • +1

oppo.. never again. got the 10x zoom (2019 flagship) and still on Android 10.

    • I would regard 10x zoom more of a mid range.

      • how so?

      • It's 2019 flag

    • Your's regular 10x zoom (4g) or Reno 5g. 5 g version is not on their android 11 plan. But 4g 10xzoom will/should get android 11 very soon .

      • Mate you're saying regular 10x Zoom (4G) will not get it since it's not in their Android 11 plan. But then you also said 4G 10x Zoom will and should get it soon.

        • 4g version will, 5g no.(at least by the info Oppo give us)

  • So looking at discussions in different forums, it seems as though the android auto issue is a game of Russian roulette with it affecting some people and not others.

    • +1

Yeah mine was working on android 10, soon us I updated to 11 Android auto no longer works. Which sucks.

      • Was ready to get one of these but really need android auto to be working . Otherwise they tick all my boxes especially the IP 68

      • Same for me. I called Oppo customer support Australia and I barely had to describe the android auto issue and she already knew about the problem. She reckoned the only solution was to bring it to a Oppo support centre and they'll wind it back to Coloros 10 for you.

        • Heard that issue before, is it just affect the pro ?or the whole find x2 line?

          • @ce5himm: I can only confirm the pro from personal experience mate

  • Any chance of the ebay listing matching your site's price? got some ebay GC wanna use.

    • It's their website special. I don't think they will let it happen on ebay.

  • How does the selfie camera on this compare to the dual cameras on the Realme X3 SuperZoom?

Looking to buy primarily based on the selfie video quality, any advice of best phone around the $350-400 price range would be appreciated.

  • damn i just bought a like new Find X2 pro demo model on ebay for $600 which I received today, not sure if it's worth trying to return it and buy from this deal instead

  • what are the delivery times like? I'm about to head to Brisbane, will it be a few days or over a week?

  • +1

Hey OP, could you include the OPPO Find X2 Pro 5G Phone - Black in this deal? I don't mind paying a bit more without the network branding.

    • +1

I'd buy in a heartbeat if that were the case.

      • Mind you, the listing for the Telstra unlocked one is "CPH2025AU", whereas the full unlocked version has the model number as "CPH2025". That to me says grey import and all the issues that may bring.

      • Only one year warranty for the telstra find x2 pro.

  • Do you guys have a store in Westfield, Parramatta, NSW?

  • bought Telstra variant a few months back… running Optus Sim…. Android Auto doesn't work after the coloros11 update! so thinking of returning it and going back to Samsung… called Oppo direct and the can't give a definite time when software update will be released in Australia fixing Android Auto ….

    • what's the diff between telstra and non-tesltra version?

    • This is BS…any ideas on what my consumer protection would be on this?
I.e. Can i return my phone to Telstra citing AA doesn't work and get a new phone or break my contract?

    • +1

back to 391 now. but with gift card, should still be cheaper

      • dang

    • -1

They just jacked up the price to $391.37, I ain't paying an extra $2.37 for that phone, I could buy at least 5 x 2 minute noodles when they come on special with that type of coin.

      • like i said, your can use ebay gift card to brings the price lower than this 389. but at w1 389 is out of pocket.

  • Neo or Pixel 4a 5G? Im torn lol.

  • Pixel 4a if you want great photos. Otherwise X2 Find NEO :-)
I was sold on the NEO but just jumped on the PRO deal.

    • Agreed, pixel for camera and system update, otherwise neo is a good choice and cheaper as well.

  • Only one year warranty for the telstra find x2 pro.

    • You get 2 yr for non Telstra?

  • +1

Why do I get $413.94 for NEO after applying the code?

    • +2

I got it now. Have to be logged in to get it down to $389

  • JB price-matched the X2 Pro for me. Virtually no resistance, he just checked that he could duplicate the discounted price and agreed to match it.

    • I phoned JB and they said that they will only match published price and won't match any discount coupons.
Are you able to upload a copy of the receipt? Would be great!

      • Ok, turns out I stuffed up a little. When I set a shopping cart up beforehand so I could show the discounted price, I didn't realise that in whatever I was doing I lost the coupon discount, so it was just showing the regular 22% discounted price - which nonetheless was still 17% off. I was doing it in a bit of a rush, and also setting up an example cart for the X2 Neo if they didn't play ball with the Pro. Whoops, OzBargain demerit points for me. In the shop, I got distracted with pushing the guy to accept the discount that I didn't twig I hadn't applied the full discount, until too late. It didn't help that at the counter I discovered I hadn't brought my CC and had to race halfway across the shopping centre to grab my missus' card.

So would he have gone all the way to the full $760 price? I'm not sure.

But JB have definitely had this price before, and only a couple of months ago:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/614604
so if they whinge about "boo hoo below cost", well, point 'em towards that.

      • +1

Hi mate, I checked JB physically today. Staff told me JB will match the price from the company which has physical shop in Australia. So no.

        • +2

The guy I dealt with only cared if they had an ABN. So YMMV.

    • Must be lucky, normally they don't do that.

      • I had no luck as they cannot match discount coupons, appreciate if you can share the receipt

  • +1

Ordered 1 on 26th says still processing.
Called up and went to voicemail.
I wonder if the lockdown is causing the delay

    • Me too purchased one on 26th, no updates at all or correspondence. Will be calling tomorrow also.

      • So I just rang again and got through.
The orders been processed and waiting for shipping. Should be out today.
Guess they're swamped with orders atm.
        good luck

        • I rang today & was advised the same. My order was upgraded to express post ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ. Thank you Wireless 1 online.

Any recommendations for the screen protector? Considering a curved screen, need something solid, reliable.

    • anything 9H hardness glass screen protector will do the jobs…..just make sure you buy the right model X2 PRO/NEO/LITE

      • Due to the curve edges, the protector does not stick properly? Can anyone attest?

        • i brought the Zuslab Screen protector for Oppo find x2 pro on ebay …i will know if its any good once i recceive the phone and screen protector !!

          • +1

@JimmyXL: Cool, look forward to your feedback.

            • @GoldStar: will do an update once its here!!

in a mean time here is the link i got the screen protector from

              https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/143646310444?var=442625998805

it said full coverage and looking from the photo it did cover the full edge of the phone ….but i will know once i got it in my hand!!

              • @JimmyXL: Any update, did it stick properly on the edges?!

                • @GoldStar: I am still waiting for delivery

                • +1

@GoldStar: hi goldstar im still waiting for my screen protectors and case ….Lock down in sydney has slow everything down !!

BTW i have receive the OPPO Find X2 Pro from wireless1 ……i have follow the guide from XDA fourm and change from telstra to Retail "AUSTRALIA_EX"

and receive the update to latest firmware C67……if u haven't done anything to your phone yet make sure don't update to telstra firmware

as you will get stuck with C62 firmware ……..

                  • @JimmyXL: Hey mate, only updated to colorOS11 that's about it. Have I done my dash? Will need your help.

                    • +1

@GoldStar: hmm only thing with that is after firmware C62 they lock the region change method and if u update to C62 telstra firmware u won't be able to change it to retail version ….only way i been told is to go to OPPO service centre and ask them to roll you back to andriod 10 then u will be able to change from telstra to retail to receive the firmware update quicker !!

                      • @JimmyXL: Thanks. I bought dad an oppo A71 locked to optus. That phone received 11.1 update no issues…. Telstra & their dodgy practice.

                      • @JimmyXL: No other way than to visit the oppo centre, anyone?

                • +1

@GoldStar: i have receive the Zuslab screen protector and apply it on my phone !!

so far this is what i think of it …first of all it doen't cover all the way to the edge on the side of the phone

and second issues im facing now is its using Dot Matrix some time the protector doesn't register the touch

i have try to flaten the surface to make better contact etc ….top left hand corner is mostly affected ….

and around the edge of the phone sometime it doesn't register bu after i keep pressure on the glass its usable !!

anyway if u playing alots of Mobile game i would not get this Zuslab Tempered Glass ….

however if u just need 9H Tempered Glass that is easy to apply and basically bubble free installation ""coz Dot Matrix" and u

can live with above Con then go for it …..

i have order a MAXSHIELD Tempered Glass 9H which using UV GLUE this one from my research its cover all the way to the edge and won't

have issues with it not registering around the edge however its more difficult to install coz u are messing with glue need to

tape the speaker and USB port etc to prevent the glue leak out and clog it up when applying !!

                  • @JimmyXL: Thanks mate for the update. Good luck with MaxShield protector.

                    • @GoldStar: Fingers Cross ….i will try to live with Zuslab protector for a while give it couple of week …if it get annoy i will change to Maxshield hopefully

                      its better!!

  • X2 pro/neo/lite all the same in size & fit? I need camera lens protector also, so same in fit/size? Hard to find these.

    • No pro phone size is bigger than neo/lite

Camera lens someone mentioned in before post cut down picture quality

  • What's version of OSColor do people have on their Telstra unlocked phone?

    • 11

      • Same, bought my dad oppo a71 it has been updated 11.1. Go figure & x2 pro is a flagship phone- understandably last year's model.
