Really hope newer Huawei models come down in price. These are getting dated.

the x pro is a deal tho

      • +1

        Whats so special about it?

      • +1

weaker than even a ryzen 3

        • +1

its fine for officework and a very nice windows lappie. could probably even do some low res gaming

  • 👍

  • -2

for those who about to buy.. the D15 is excellent. the review on washed out screen. it does not matter. so little thing. the thing is solid as. would buy too if i didn't have 2 already

    • +1

What do you mean by it does not matter?

      • -2

it's not a consideration. it's fine. only the youtube review are complaining( for something to say). there no effect.

        • +8

The screen may be fine to you but objectively speaking, it's pretty trash. 250 nits max brightness, 60% sRGB and 40% Adobe RGB coverage respectively. No the reviewers are not looking "for something to say", don't buy this panel if you want any outdoor viewing experience at all or even dabble the slightest in colour work.

        • +2

I really wish people would stop making these comments. Rather than "it's fine" or "only reviewers complaining" or "doesn't matter", it's much more helpful to state the limitations.

You've done the research already, you know what it says so why not help the community rather than trying to rationalise your purchase?

We get it, you love the product and it fits what you want to use it for but you're not every user.

          • -1

@ihfree: cause i was concerned but it turn out it not even a issue.

            • @ilove: … for you.

              • @ihfree: do you have one?

                • @ilove: irrelevant. The reason is already detailed in this comment.

I've used laptops with cheaper panels/lower coverage and personally I'm not a fan. My partner edits photos on her laptop which rules it out for her. The dim panel would also stop many people I know buying it as we occasionally work outside. So while it's fine for what you're using it for, it's not a one size fits all.

You may notice I've upvoted the deal, as I think they're decent laptops with a decent feature set for the price while acknowledging the shortcomings.

                  • @ihfree: looks good to me. and i'm on a macbook pro 15inch now and it not even noticeable (the difference) imo

                    • @ilove: So you'd recommend this laptop for:

                      • People who want to work outside
                      • People who want to edit photos with accurate colours

                      ?

                      • @ihfree: I hesitanted to buy it cause of the washed out screen reviews… now i got it it's not even a issue

and just before i used it outside and it's bright and beautiful the screen is… can't fault it.

                        • @ilove: You really don't see a noticeable difference between that screen and a MacBook Pro 15" screen?

As a MBP 15" owner and someone who has used various 15" FHD laptops with panels of varying quality, i'd strongly suggest heading to Specsavers.

                          • @ihfree: Maybe you can't take the d15 is that good but stuck on it s specs but don't compare irl

                  • @ihfree: If your partner edits photos, surely they would be choosing certain brands and not looking at sub $700 laptops anyway.

Case in point. My wife codes for a living (etl and data warehouse developer) and she connects her laptop to a monitor screen both at work and at home. She isn't relying on a laptop screen resolution, brightness and realestate

                    • @argamond: You're missing the point. I've simply given a list of cases where the display isn't up to scratch.

Thank you for reiterating what i've just been saying.

I'm calling out the irrational post-purchase rationalisation of ilove who compares the display to the MacBook Pro 15" and says the reviewers are just complaining. I've already said I think it's a decent laptop for the price.

I was looking at these a while ago before I got my PC.

It looks like you can't connect more than 1 external monitor tho, which was a dealbreaker for me.

    • Is there any way to hook up a usb-c hub to give more than 1 monitor?

      • Yeah I looked for that and the consensus seemed to be it only supports 1 monitor. At least for the D14 I was looking at

        • Dang. Reddit seemed to think the X Pro could do it with two dongles… But CBF with that everytime I plug in.

  • +1

    Ram upgradable in X Pro?

    • +1

      Unfortunantly no its soldered

      • +1

        Damn

  • +2

Caveat with the bezel-less screen which is vulnerable to screen crack when debris get trapped in between the lower corners, and it's not covered under warranty.

  • I purchased the D14 off this seller from Ebay about 8 weeks ago.

Can vouch for both the laptop and the seller.

    • hows the quality of the webcam?

      • +1

Terrible. And it's located in the keyboard.

      • As per the replies, the webcam is 50/50. The camera itself is in-between F6 and F7 button.

I don't use the inbuilt webcam rather, I have connected my mirrorless camera and use that as a webcam. The image quality is superb.

X Pro may be nice but… 8 GB RAM.

    • my gaming pc runs at 8gb of ram and its fine for most things

  • Hi Op, is the iPhone in related deals actually new?

Found two similar negative feedback from Ebay

"Was verbally notified that exterior wrapping had been ripped but no damaged to the box and is unopened. However upon opening of the box, the phone was incorrectly placed upside-down, indicating the box had been opened and phone taken out. It is unclear if the phone had previously been used as the condition was as new, but unhappy with the listing as "brand new" and lied about the box being unopened for a $1500+ product.

very disappointed about this purchase and dishonour seller, described as brand new of iphone 12, then was told it is been opened and never used. I think they are selling preowned or returned item. BE WARNED!!!

    • Hi gto21

      Please make clear

For normal title = Brand New
As new, preowned, renewed is not Brand New, hope this is clear to you, any questions feel free to PM me.

      • -1

        Thank you for the reply.

Very strange you have similar negative feedback on other phones too. Boxes were opened but selling as brand new.

        • Some confusion thinks "as new" is brand new, also messed up with and picks and packs, our bad but we always try to fix any issues.

          • +2

@AHUANG: The listing says brand new. The buyers were not confused.

You got negative votes on ozbargain for a previous deal. For selling Optus branded phones sealed but unlock. They thought it was suspicious.

Is that why the price is low? Some boxes were opened, and seal again but selling as brand new?

Please update to "refurbished" or "used" or "opened but never used" if that's the case.

        • I can’t comment on the particular models you’ve mentioned but I do know that certain Chinese phones in the past have been flashed to local firmware, which would require retailers to open boxes.

  • thanks Op, I'm gonna take a chance on the D14

Here's my experience with this seller:

I bought Huawei Matebook 13 2K Touch (8th Gen i5-8265U, 256GB SSD/8GB) from this deal. Was dispatched promptly and got it within a week. So very happy with that.

However this laptop had significant screen bleeding issues since Day 1. Contacted the seller who in turn asked me to contact Huawei CC which I did. Huawei were supposed to send me their shipping details so I could send it back to them for getting it fixed. Its been a year… contacted Huawei multiple times but now I've given up.

Honestly glad I didn't go for the Matebook X Pro as it was twice the price at the time. Losing 1 grand is bad enough but losing 2k would have sucked.

You can go to the manufacturer however I believe mobileciti gave you the wrong information. Looking for ways to get rid of you instead of helping. Retailers like mobileciti will do it even tho they know the law.

Maybe you don't need the shipping address. Get the companies to pick it up. I was able to do it with a phone costing less than $100 from another company. You paid over $1000 for a laptop.

"Who to claim a remedy from
      Products
You can claim a remedy from the retailer if the products do not meet any one or more of the consumer guarantees, with the exception of availability of spare parts and repair facilities.

The remedies you can seek from the retailer who sold you the product include a repair, replacement, or refund and in some cases compensation for damages and loss.

The retailer can’t refuse to help you by sending you to the manufacturer or importer."
