Does this come with a snake game?

  • Can anyone confirm if it comes with the Telstra sim kit? Aka would it be ready to use immediately for receiving calls/texts or would you have to source your own sim

    • Just picked mine up. Can confirm that it comes with a Telstra sim kit inside the box.

  • Ordered 2 for the kids. Cheap camera play thingies for the school holidays :D

      Don't you like your kids?

  • Ordered one for my kid. What prepaid plan are you guys using for your kids? Just need something basic basic. The one from Kogan seems to be the cheapest, 12 months one.

    • You can only use it on Telstra prepaid. Not even Telstra nvmo like Aldi or Belong before unlocking

      • Oh yeah that's right mate. Well, just Telstra prepaid then.

      • You forgot Boost. That works without unlock.

    • +2

      Ordered one for my kid.

Fair swap. $9 is a lot.

  • Sweet. Perfect burner phone.

  • Does locked to Telstra still work with boost?

    • +1

No. Not working with Boost or Belong before unlock.

      • +1

Definitely NO? Memory might be deceiving me but seem to recall reports on this site suggesting another different Tls'locked phone does on BOOST (none will on lesser MVNOs). Device dependent perhaps?

    • +4

Yes, I just put a boost SIM in one straight from the box and made a call - no problem!

      • Thanks for clarifying.

        Very much appreciated!

Should have gone for this yesterday on a JB/Telstra plan with the $500 credit towards a new phone. "Could I have 55 of those please?".

    • -1

      Waste of $491 tho.
You get credit towards ONE phone.

      • +3

        That’s the joke.

  • Does this device have call forwarding?

    • Isn't call forwarding a network thing? Eg dial * 2 4 etc

Bought 10 to burn through, cheers!

  • Thinking about getting this as an alternative to a landline that costs $10/month, for use in an emergency. How would the battery handle being constantly on charge?

    • +1

Use a smart plug and charge it ~every week for ~1hr. Even a mechanical timer could work. Problem solved.

      • Good idea. Now need to work out the best plan/provider (might need to unlock).

        • +2

If you will never or rarely make calls, ALDI pay-as-you-go 365 day expiry is the best option. I'm doing the same as an alternative to a landline.

          • @bio: Sounds good. Used an Aldi plan years ago to alert me of power outages.

    • Better to just charge once a month.

    • +1

No problem leaving a li-ion on the charger. Charge control is smart enough, even on this phone.

It will have a small effect on battery capacity in a year two, but that's not a problem for you.

    Any way to unlock?

  • got Telstra Lite 3g at aust post for $5 just for the sim card that expires in Jan 2022

    • Link?

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one. Used a discounted TCN card to get a JB voucher. Out of pocket $7.65

    • You must've held on to that card for a while. I don't think TCN has been discounted 15% recently.

  • Ordered one. Careful, the first checkout tried to charge me $49 pickup.

  • They cancelled my order twice. WTF?

    • They may be out of stock? Mine is ready for pickup today (Westfield Garden City).

  • Well, now the party is over, I'd have to agree with this user review over at product review;

Absolutely zero effort has been spent on achieving ease of use.

This phone cannot do anything with wifi: no browser, no email, no apps that can be downloaded. Absolutely nothing.

True, it can function as a mobile Wifi hotspot … But to turn on the mobile hotspot from the home screen takes 19 clicks! (But 4 clicks for the non-functional “Wifi”)

There is a feeble torch. But (if you can find it) it takes 11 clicks to turn on, and if you happen to go back to the homescreen, then it will take 11 clicks to turn off again.

The icons are not changeable. It is not possible to put the most used functions in a place where they are easiest to access.

I could go on…. But in summary, don’t waste your time or your $30 on this.

Sure it's only $9, as long as you know what you're getting.

It does run a fork of Android and it is possible to enable developer mode, so some people may find a use for it (beyond simple phone calls).

Tried unlocking mine today with Telstra, but no luck. They said they couldn't find the IMEI to do the unlock.
