  • so is this fairly decent with Mango in?

    • +2

Yeah i have one and its great for its price, only problem with it is I'm unable to get lossless music on it, but that only matters if you have good headphones to go with it.

great facebook and twitter integration with mango i love the windows phone os although the voice recognition is a bit iffy when trying to use it to write text messages

      • Voice recognition is a bit like that on everything. The radio in a friends car is a real crack up!! LOL

      • It doesn't play high bitrate FLAC audio?

  • I got this phone using the previous deal from uniquemobiles. Upgrading the firmware to Mango was pretty trivial. To let you know, mine disconnects during phone calls, normally after a few minutes. This happens pretty often. I thought upgrading to Mango would fix it, well, it didn't.

      You with voda?

      • Would explain it.

      • Yes, but I didn't though this would matter. I use Voda on my other phones, they all work fine except e900.

    • A common cause of this on most phones is a protective case. Mine (non LG) does it but not so when out of the case. Is yours in a case?

      • I don't have a case for it.

        • Maybe this phones antenna isn't the best and when add voda reception in the mix it just cuts out regularly……

    • I have this phone and have never had that happen.

  • +2

got mine from the last deal and I like the phone and the OS. Good for the price. The panorama app that comes preloaded is quite good.

  • +1

I got mine from the COTD deal last time. Love it. I stopped using my iphone4 because i just liked this better. Had 0 problems with it. Great Phone! AND i can take music on and off from any computer running Zune! :O lol that's a OS thing but still for me coming from iPhones it was a new idea hahahaha. Downside is the OS doesn't really support audiobooks but minor

  • +1

Absolutely great phone. Will be ordering another soon as my girlfriend has hijacked the previous one I ordered :)

  • -3

Not again lol, I would have thought a lot of ozbargainers would already have this phone its been up so many times :D.

  • how good this compare to android? hope somebody who owned both device can give some comments

    • +4

(My experience, Android user) I bought a HTC 7 Trophy just to see what WP7 was like (similar spec'ed phone).

      The interface is very slick but there are a couple of things that made me sell it (for a profit :D ) after only 2 days;

      • The marketplace. Its possibly the worst thing I have ever had to browse through. I didn't download a single app because a) they all got crap reviews b)they seemed expensive c) I couldn't find any d) this list will just get longer so I'll stop now. The android market is so much easier to navigate and find things and the apps seem to be of a higher quality.

      • You have to use Microsoft's Zune software to transfer music and files to it. The reason I hate iPhones is because of iTunes (mostly), and this is just the same process. Doesn't work as an external storage device = lame

This is just my opinion, but I think that WP7 is good as a business phone (Exchange, Outlook, Office etc), but Android is better as everyday device.

      • Thanks for that. cheers mate

      • I have this and my wife has the acer liquid metal (android 2.3)

The memory drives me nuts on the android (at least the cheaper ones) Install a few aps and it is full. Really annoying. Yes i know you can fiddle around with apps that force more apps to the SD but i shouldnt have to do that.

        • Camera and Video are quite good on the Optimus.
        • Multitasking works well.
        • The ability to chose how to reply to a message is great. Switch between SMS, facebook and messenger mid conversation and still have the conversation history together. Works well.
        • Syncs all my pics and videos wirelessly while charging at home.

        Negative:
Not as many apps at the moment. (dont really care myself)
Zune doesnt like some of my MP3s for some reason.

  • Sounds like a great deal. But why limit it to 3 phones per person? That is a deal killer for me. I wanted to buy 4 and now I am out of luck as the limit of 3 makes it impossible for me.

      Hi SuperJew,

4 Is fine, we put this limit in place to eliminate Wholesale Orders and to be fair on all customers we like to give everyone the opportunity to view the sale before stock is sold out

      • Hi, can I ask whether this mobile can change to Chinese Language in setting easily?

        • Windows Phone does support simplified/traditional Chinese from Mango onwards. However, this is dependent on which ROM is installed on the phone - and as this is an Australian Stock phone, it may not support Chinese language. You're only option would be to flash the phone with the Hong Kong ROM - but beware, this will void your warranty and is not recommended. Perhaps someone who has purchased this phone can go into 'region + language settings' and confirm what I suspect to be true.

        • I just switched mine on. It's an Optus unit, without any optus branding (the default homepage is optus).

The languages available on startup are - Deutsch, English US, English UK, Espanol, Francais, Italiano.

I guess you need to flash it with a chinese ROM for chinese menus. Shouldn't be that hard.

      sarcasm?

  • I am trying to order this but paypal just won't check out properly for me. Pity.

  • Just brought this its going to be a late valentines day present and hopefully a good excuse for being empty handed tomorrow

    • Ditto!

I just saw this at my local Harvey Norman on special for $523. They said their cost is over $600. Heh heh.

I just ordered from uniquemobiles, anyone knows when it will be shipped? Today or tomorrow?

  • Got any new deals for the Galaxy S2 on the horizon?

    • +1

      Or HTC Sesnsation/XE/XL?

  • +1

Or good Android deals for sub $250?

  • I bought this last time from uniquemobiles when it was $174
Its a good phone but it has a really annoying issue: sometimes if I press the power button the screen backlight comes on (i.e. screen goes from off state to powered) but there is nothing on the screen. If this happens I have to turn the device off again (backlight then goes off) and try again. Sometimes it can take 2-3 times before it turns on successfully with the lock screen.

I was searching around the web and found a few other people with the same issue. However when i rung up LG they say its not a known issue with the phone :S

    • I've got the same issue since December. Still trying to resolve it with LG. Been "fixed" at the repair center twice, but it's still happening. Heard from someone online that the only way to resolve it is to replace the motherboard (which they have not done). I've missed calls as the screen turns on but is "blank" (can not slide to pick up).

      • Hmm i contacted LG today and they said its not a known issue :S
Would you mind linking me to where it says the issue can be fixed by replacing the motherboard?

  • Perfect price for a developer phone.

    • Thats what thought when I got mine, but then I realised I have to pay Microsoft $100 (per year?) to make applications for it. So back to Android I go :)

      • You can request a free token for the App Hub from the Windows Phone Oz Dev Community which will get you started. It's a bummer it costs money but I guess it's to cover the costs of having your apps tested.

  • I bought it last time at 174 and upgraded to mango straight away. No problems…except. Some pages deny access when browsing in desktop mode but then work fine in mobile mode. An example is staticice.com.au . I am on liveconnected. Has happened with at least ten different sites. Aside from that great phone and no troubles with calls or data.

can i use this phone oversea?

    • Sure, as long as the overseas network uses the same frequencies and technology. 3G UMTS at 900/2100MHz

  • -8

Give me a windows phone for free and I wouldn't use it

    • +1

Good for you. OK run along now.

  • Whenever a deal comes up for this phone people love it.
I have a Garmin/Nuvi and am looking to upgrade why is this better than the usual Samsung / Apple.

    • Heaps of reviews on the net… google it.
Basically fast, stable and ease of use and battery life.
They all have their + & - 's , everyone will have a different opinion. I have a android atm but my next will be a windows phone because it suits me more. If you like a heap of free apps etc then go android.

    • I just swapped from the garmin/nuvi A50 to this about 2 weeks back. Dont regret it a bit, its very fast navigating through the menus, not like the nuvi with droid 2.1(max O/S on Nuvi A50).
Where the A50 beats this is the garmin GPS software on the A50 is still miles ahead of whats on offer here(gmaps, bing maps), that said, I just put my A50 in my car (no sim) to use as a dedicated GPS only, easy fix…
Regards to apple/samsung, well price really, what apple/samsung can you get for this price thats comparable?
Also the market isnt as comprehensive as apple/droid, but apart from a fishing app and dedicated GPS on my A50, WP7 has everything I need.
Also, Zune sux till you get your head around how it operates, now Im fine with it!
      Good Luck, go for it…

Got this for my dad as his first smart phone. Absolute zero issues. I showed him how to disable data connection and 3g off (using a live tile), and now his battery lasts almist whole week (give or take 5-6 hours short of 7 day). He is enjoying it. Good work Microsoft :-)

  • can anyone who purchased this mobile before confirm whether it can change to Chinese Language in setting easily? Thanks

    • I don't see it in my phone. Not sure if it has anything to do with the updated OS or not, but in general, the phone isn't too great. The saying "you get what you pay for" applies strictly to this phone.

I love the fact that it's different to an iPhone, but the Zune software is what makes it a bad experience.

      • thanks for the reply, no chance buy this one form my parents

      • +1

The LG is a decent phone and this is a great price for it. It is a Windows phone, so the OS works the same on whatever hardware you have, whether its Samsung, HTC etc. that includes the associated Zune software that is a classy product which manages the phone well (updates, settings, synching)- and you can use Zune on any PC.

The good things about the e900 is it has a good screen, a 3.7" screen (not too big), 16GB memory (most have 8GB) - and in this case price - Windows phones are normally over $300.

Before you buy this phone, firstly decide if you want to use the Windows OS (WP 7.5)- I don't mind it at all…

  • Would this phone work in the US?
And which carrier(s) is the best? (pre paid)
I have an Omnia 7 and love it and the OS, can't recommend one enough especially with the wifi hotspot update (not sure if that's on this phone yet).

    • +1

It'll only work on EDGE off AT&T unfortunately. You'd need to look for a NextG phone to be able to use AT&T's 3G network.

      • Thanks for the help. Is it the same with Verizon and T Mobile?

        • Verizon is CDMA so it won't work at all - they don't even use SIM cards.
T Mobile is on 1700MHz which won't work with this phone either, unfortunately!

  • Shipping was very fast, ordered it on 13th Feb, got it on 15th Feb. I paid the extra insurance ($2.99) as I don't trust AAE but they didn't stuff it up this time. Hint: Ship it to a "Business Address" and this way the Drivers can be bothered to deliver it on time.
