EVGA XR1 1080p 60fps USB-C Capture Card with 4k 60fps Passthrough $119 + Delivery ($0 VIC C&C) @ BPC Tech

140

Great price for a branded USB-C capture card that offers proper, uncompressed video capture and passthrough unlike most of the super cheap amazon cards.

Supports up to 4k60 input and passthrough which it then captures at up to 1080p60 uncompressed, plus 3.5mm mic input and headphone output, and obligatory RBG lights.

This works just like a webcam so no need for drivers and will work in any video conferencing app, camera app, Discord or OBS/Streamlabs in Windows/MacOS/Linux, even iOS/Android if you're REALLY keen.

There were some issues with the way it was initially advertised due to its confusing 'advanced passthrough mode'. Basically when its OFF any hdmi signal can go through it up to 120hz but when its ON its capped at 4k60 passthrough with 1080p60 capture (no 1440p120).

Been using it for the past few days on stream and very happy with the price and performance considering equivalent Elgatos are $300+

  • Does it capture HDR correctly, ie is the capture output converted from HDR to normal (SDR) colours?

Nah it can't capture or passthrough HDR, you would need the Elgato HD60s+ for that. Had no issues capturing my ps5 with it though and since my monitor doesn't have HDR it wasn't worth the extra $140 for the Elgato.

      • Just saw it on the review video. Too bad, was hoping this would be a cheap alternative to the Elgato.

Does this break HDCP? (remove copy protection)

    • I had to disable hdcp on my ps5 so no, but thats pretty common with capture cards

  • It states, Interface: HDMI 2.0 does it need HDMI 2.0 output from a graphics card or just means up to Interface: HDMI 2.0 so won't work on a graphics card that outputs HDMI 2.1, I think my 3070 is HDMI 2.1, ok my monitor is HDMI 2.0 so I guess I've just answered my own question though anyone confirm above much appreciated,..

Also guessing recording interface is through the USB-C port were you can connect directly too you PC USB port with software I'm guessing) or a portable USB hard drive? would one need a fast SSD drive too record @ 4K or standard mechanical drive should cope?

Sorry new too all this 👍😁

Edit: does it have a bigger brother that can capture @ 4K

  • this might fit what im looking for, i was leaning between this and the elgato hd60+

this having yuy2 is handy too

seems like its getting decent reviews for the price range too
