It worked last month no problem - received the wish e-gift card last week.

  • +8

Got a quote last week. Was still more expensive than Bingle, inspite of considering the GC/discounts.

May have still gone for it if I shopped at Woolies often, but have Coles and Aldi in the vicinity and grocery is consistently more expensive at Woolies.

    • Is Bingle any better than Woolies? I have Bibgke and am tempted to make this switch.

      • Never needed them, and hopefully never do. Just going by the coverage and and pricing.

    • +7

      Don't just accept their quote!
Use Woolies "Price Beat" to get the best price - dropped by 50% off their quote in my case.
Very easy to get a better price than I could get elsewhere.
      Plus the $100 & 10% discount groceries.

      • +1

I tried it calling and chatting. It works only for renewals. Not for new quotes. WW quote was about $400 more expensive.

        • Yes, thats what it says. But I got it.
First year I used my Suncorp renewal notice. Next year I used my WWI renewal notice! So they undercut themselves!

Won't work if the vehicle is new - no renewal.

          • @INFIDEL: Hmm…I’ll give it another try.

            • +1

@Rimus: Older Deal had helpful instructions on how to renew next year with WWI. But these things tend to change. Renewed over 6 months ago.

    • +1

Go for 'Drive Less, Pay Less' option in Woolies - much cheaper and you can adjust km as per your usage at any time during the year and pay the difference amount online without any human interaction. Their customer support chat is also pretty good though.

  • +1

way more expensive than my current poncho insurance (COVID cover)

    • Sir Jadeja

  • I don't suppose there is any way to get the gift card if you are already with Woolworths, and renewing?

Their price is still very good, taking the monthly 10% groceries into account.

    • +4

Yep this is my third time renewing and receiving the gift card.

      • How do you do it? Cancel and reapply?

        • +2

          yes

          • @7effect: How long it takes to cancel? Last time they put me on hold for 50 minutes?

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: better to opt for online chat…. 10 min wait for me.

              • @7effect: Good to know you can cancel through online chat, I thought it can only be done through phone call. Thx for the info.

          • @7effect: How long after cancelling did you go and get a new policy?

        • Yes sounds what I did for the the 3rd time

      • I just joined woolworths car insurance this year, I didn't receive egift, do they automatically email it to you?

        • yeah received via email. Maybe in your junk inbox? Chase them up if not.

          • @7effect: great, I bought in April this year, does that affect? When I bought the insurance, I entered the rewards card detail. I got the 10% off groceries, but I only see that prompt in check out in June, I didn't see that in May.

        • Hope you gave them your Rewards number & the discount code when you bought!

Other offer (different code) is 20k Rewards points straight on your account

          • @INFIDEL: I didn't give the discount code, was the discount code available in June?

            • @htc: Currently 2 codes available.
I think WWI codes are always available - check Deals
Otherwise you miss out on $100 to spend @Woolies. But not needed for a discount.

    • I usually cancel the policy after the expiry and get the new one to get $100GC every year.
If you are renewing policy you can still be able to get $50 GC if you talk to customer care.

  • Will it work for third party insurance?

    • Yes

      • Hi mate, how did you do that, will mimic. Is it to call them up to get the giftcard when renewing. Or sign up new, and cancelling the existing policy? Thx.

        • Sign up for new, don't renew existing.

        • yeah just reapply and cancel your existing. has worked for me.

          • @7effect: You shouldn't have any gap in your policies right? I've noticed that if there's any gap the auto system says "sorry we can't provide you insurance"

  • Good deal. Maybe I should cancel my existing car insurance and apply for this.

Anyone else getting the following error?

The requested URL was rejected. Please consult with your administrator.

    • Same here. Ozbargained lol.

  • Wonder if you get the gift card within 30 days if premium is paid monthly?

  • If you do a price-beat - do you still get the $100 e-gift card?

    • +1

Yes. That's what I've done with Woolies for last 2 years. Received $100 credit to Rewards account each time (different code).

Price Beat dropped Woolies quoted price by more than half on a limited km quote from another insurer. And was given unlimited km by Woolies.

      • Edit: Nvm. Found which company below, thanks.

  • +1

When you purchase insurance with code it does increase the premium as well. So take with and with code quote guys

    • +1

The default quote is with 15% discount. Whereas, with this quote, it is 10% discount. So it does definitely go up.
Mine went up from 360 to 390, roughly. But with added 100$ GC, is still good.

    • +1

And also worth comparing around as for a new car we just bought Suncorp was cheaper with better coverage, even after this discount and gift card.

      • +1

I used a very cheap (limited km) Suncorp comprehensive renewal quote.
Price matched at Woolies for $30 less, & given unlimited km. $100 gift card & monthly 10% off 1 shop made it even better!

But then I have an old car, so my insurance needs are different.

        • Can I ask Suncorp for a quote even when mine has not expired? Just curious, and what other providers are cheaper and good/better than Woolies?

          • @Tigerboy: Of course.
Check around, as insurance cost differs by so many variables like your location, vehicle, age,…

  • If this code doesn't work or you just want to see if it gives different amount, try the other expired code: REW20K. I used it last week to get a quote, and it did apply the 20K Everyday Rewards points (worth $100 too)

    • Not expired code - posted again 2 weeks ago. See link below.
They've been recycling these codes for years.

  • Long Running Woolies Car Insurance Deal from 2 weeks ago with different code REW20K.
Same Deal except with 20k rewards points (=$100) instead of $100 Woolies Gift card.

Use Price Beat to get the best price - dropped by 50% in my case.

  • I get this message: We'd like to thank you for requesting a quote with Woolworths Insurance. Please call us on 1300 482 451 as we require a bit more information.

Edit - tried again on my mobile and it worked.

  • I forgot to renew my comprehensive insurance with the Budget Direct in 2019. Would the premium jump sky high if I want to get a new policy?

  • Has anyone signed up with 'Drive less pay less'? Just want to know how they check it

    • They ask you what it is at the start and they haven't asked me since (7 months now). I think they'll check if you get into an accident though, there's extra excess for if you go over

      • Good point

    • From what I found when investigating…
      (As commented just above)
You provide the odometer reading at start of Policy. If making a claim, they will likely ask for a reading from repairer. If well over - may invalidate Policy or the discount for limited km!

But I got unlimited km with "Price Beat" at about half the cost!

      • +1

It doesn't invalidate the policy, there's just an additional excess if your outside your stated odo range.

        • Thanks. After WWI gave me unlimited km, I didn't bother investigating further.

        • that excess is $1000 which is quite a lot

      • How do you price beat? I don't see any option like that

        • Have you got a quote yet?
From memory, after they give a quote, an option to price beat is shown. At least that's what I experienced when I did it 7 months ago.

          • @INFIDEL: Hmm I have got quotes but haven't gone all the way to the pay page after entering all the specific info at the end. At the quote page there's no price beat option nor have I seen it before when getting quotes from them

            • +1

@sub102: Just tried on phone & it didn't show up for me using this code. But had set renewal date as December. So considered the reason…

Set renewal date to within a month - POP UP offered to price beat!

Got a comparable Comprehensive renewal notice for cheaper?
See if we can beat it!

Couldn't understand why you couldn't see it as WWI really push the Price Beat…
(Shown 3 times when quote is shown: popup, "price beat click here" under comprehensive price & again below quote)
Price Beat is only available when you would have a renewal quote - about a month before renewal date.

              • @INFIDEL: I've never even seen it. But when you talking about arenewal date are you renewing an existing policy or buying a new one? I did not come across a renewal date field when doing the quote

                • +1

@sub102: I was getting a Quote for buying a new policy with WWI.

I did not come across a renewal date field when doing the quote

(Take care when filling out insurance Policy questions!! The quote is based on that info.)

On Step 3 of 5, it asks
Have you had insurance for this car in the last 30 days?
                  If answer is Yes -
                  Who is the insurer?

When is your policy due for renewal?
(It's a pull down selection of months.)

Answers to those questions is how WWI know to offer Price Beat!

(Month needs to be close, to receive offer of Price Beat - because it is meant to be based on a current Renewal Quote with your current insurer. Enter your current Policy price if you don't have a renewal quote, to get an approximate Price Beat price.)

Say hello to Maggie from me - now it's out of Lock Down!

                  • @INFIDEL: Thanks a lot for the info, somehow got it to work!

and yeah Maggie is doing great :)

                    • @sub102: Have been thinking of another visit to Maggie🌴 Too cold in Brissie.

                      • @INFIDEL: Ofcourse just moved back from Brissie and its been heaven here with above average temps almost everyday for the past few weeks. BTW what's the cheapest you got from pricebeat? I got 70 annual for comprehensive think that can be beaten?

                        • @sub102: Oh shutup with your tales of Tropical warmth!
Checking upcoming commitments, to see if / when can go North - need to be back by end of August.

Was $70 the price beat amount? Depends what you are insuring etc.
Is it cheaper than you currently pay?
                          Check around other insurers.

Mine cost $150/yr ($30 price beat) for old car with WWI, so effectively free with Rewards bonuses.

                          • @INFIDEL: Well I do not have insurance other than CTP. Just put fake numbers so when I entered 100 it gave me 70 (so yeah basically 30 profit with 100 gift card) and hen rejected when I tried 50. I'm guessing you get 30 if you say you currently pay 50?

                            • +1

@sub102: In the past, each time I entered "quotes" - found the same. Always a $30 reduction off the submitted renewal quote. And much lower than WWI quote.

    • Make sure you stay on top of checking your km if you go this way. We had 10,000km a year and then gave the car to an au pair. She crashed it, was 13km over the limit and they would not pay our claim.

      • The WWI policy says there's a grace distance. Was the crash years ago before they added the grace distance perhaps?

Drive Less Pay Less details from the WWI policy:
If you're getting close to your end odometer reading, just give us a call and we can increase it. Additional costs may apply.
If your car's odometer falls below the start odometer reading (in your first period of insurance) or above the end odometer reading or is deemed faulty, you may be subject to an additional excess. We will allow a kilometer grace distance of up to 250kms before additional excesses apply.

      • That's complete nonsense. You just pay a higher excess.

      • more likely the au pair wasn't on the policy

  • +1

Thanks, just cancelled with AAMI and saved $150 all up for the year.
Went with the drive less option as I don't clock up many kilometres.

  • I got 3rd party property for $110/year a few months ago - $100 Woolies card + 10% off one shop each month means my insurance is free and then some.

    • +1

That's the way to do it.

Got Comprehensive Policy on very old but well maintained car (given to me by family 2 years ago). I rarely drive as was regularly overseas before, & didn't really want the expense of a car. It mainly sits in locked garage in safe area. Very low risk for insurer - so insurance is cheap.

In first year Policy cost $140 (now $150). Get $100 credit & grocery discount each year - effectively free Comprehensive insurance for 2 years!

    • How can you get this low?

  • I'm a woolworths mobile customer and already get 10% off once per month. If i get the insurance, do i get 2x10% shops per month?

    • +2

If you use a different Rewards account - get 2 shops per month with 10% off.

  • -1

I like free money. Got third party quote down to $12per month. Put drive 1,000kms a year and $2000 excess.

Will cancel after 1 month and pocket myself the $100 voucher.

    Helloooooo free groceries in September.

  • Has anyone made a motor claim with them. Are they difficult to deal with?

  • how do I get 10% off groceries? Just scan the rewards cards next time I'm doing a humongous shopping I guess?

    • +1

yeah just scan and when you press to pay, it'll give you a prompt as to whether you want to use our 10% off

  • +1

Well, it doesn't beat my Virgin insurance that my renewal is $688.95 and Woolies quoted me $1124, system declined saying I am not eligible. Doesn't want to call them, so I give up.

  • Will this work for more than one vehicle? Our family has 4, but all in my name.

    • Yes no problem. I have had the same vehicle with the same rego # twice while working out there best. Quote.

      • Do you get multiple 10% of monthly shopping for holding multiple policies, or one or none?

        • Just one only payed for 1 policy

  • For those who were already on the WW insurance and cancelled and got a new policy again to get the $100 voucher, how long did you wait after cancelling before signing up again?

    • Cancelled by phone 1300 number the night before , started the new policy the next day or that same day/night
Make sure you cancel or they will auto renew and bill you .

  • This is a great deal, thanks OP! Does anyone know if I use the same everyday rewards card and take out a second policy will I get a second $100 card and two 10% discounts per month? Otherwise my partner will be signing up for another edr account :)

    • +1

Get your partner to get a card

      • Thanks Christie, I just noticed this exact question answered in a previous comment :)

  • how long does it take for the gift card to come through? Signed up on 9th july

    • I got mine today and took my policy out on July 5, so I assume about 2-3 weeks.

  • +1

Just in case anyone is thinking of trying it… they will only price beat a renewal notice, not a new insurance quote.

In my case Woolworths quoted me $2.2k while I've found some other insurers (AAMI, budget direct, GIO) quoted me $800-900. Wow what a rip off! Definitely a go no without price match but your experience may vary.

  • Be careful guys - Just realised this policy keeps your credit card details on file and auto renews annually!!!

Can't believe it, usually when I get the renewal I shop around for the best price, with Woolworths insurance it would auto renew and it I got insurance from another company I could end up paying twice !!

    • That’s like any insurance.

All insurance policies have auto renewal.
