This might be kind of a niche, but you know what it is if you need/want it. Pretty decent price and it's from a local Australian retailer, which means you'll be covered by ACL, while cheaper than importing.

Beware of whether it'll fit your build before buying though, do your own research before hand.

You can use Klarna as a payment option (as per here) to get the last payment instalment waived for effectively 25% off. But this promotion will end by around 5PM TODAY (09/07/2021). The Klarna promotion has ended.

  • is this brand good? confused as to why you wouldn't just order a noctua from newegg.

Size related performance (so with considerations to height and clearance) It performs better than Noctua coolers of the same size. This is mostly used by small form factor enthusiasts.

It is a quality cooler, and you'll get ACL from a local Aussie retailer.

      • Ahh I see, I knew there was something I was missing. I am into SFF too so was curious. Thanks for the info.

      • What's the performance compared to liquid cooling (say a 120 or 240)?

        • Liquid cooling will perform better or similar if there's enough room for an AIO. However the point of this cooler is for SFF builds with case allowing minimal room (say <50-60mm clearance). To get the most out of the cooler, you'll need to do some swapping out for the fans with Noctua fans. However, out of the box performance is still the best comparing to other low profile form factor coolers.

See Optimum Tech's review here to get an idea: https://youtu.be/M5C7iDb2Z0I?t=293 . If you'd like some guesses and estimation, the Noctua NH-L12S can perform similar to an 120mm AIO (Corsair H55), https://youtu.be/2Ir1Wvcypic?t=615 , and the ABR with two additional Noctua fans can perform similar to the L12S. Overall it'll also depend on the airflow in your specific build and how you orient the parts.

Granted, they aren't really apple to apple comparison, because it isn't for the mainstream build but more for those who want specific build requirements (hence a bit niche).

@zrmx: Thankyou for your reply, very informative and helpful. I didn't realised Optimum tech had done a review on this one, I'll check it out now!

Also I know that this cooler is for sff build, sometimes sff builds have limited space in front of cpu but space elsewhere to put a rad and since a waterblock (and pump if it's aio) are usually smaller than a cooler. This is the case (pun intended) with one of the cases I'm looking at using.

Its roughly the same size as Noctua L9i / L9a and way better than both of them. Just slap an A9x14 fan or A12x15 on top and you will have the best air cooler < 63mm.

It's one of the better options for the extra low profile cases, particularly sandwich style cases where you won't have much clearance.

Have a watch for the review video from Optimum Tech in the product page. The channel is one of the best for SFF builds.

      • ok, will do. thanks!

        Agreed. He's also Australian.

  • Just check your case most of the time a L9 with Fan Duct work just as well without the compatibility issue you have with the Blackridge - unless you use ultra low profile ram and use 120mm fan at the bottom.

ps. referring to cases that only accept 49mm cooler height so no 120mm fan on top of the BR.

  • This is normal price… Not a deal really.
