Er, no. I'm a Foxtel customer simply copy and pasting what I received in my e-mail inbox.

Each year when these free movie offers are on they are posted as deals.

I've had Foxtel for 6 years and have never once received this email notice. I appreciate the heads up from OzB every time it comes around - I would miss it if it was only in the forums

          Thanks OP!

      • ahh thats cool, just cause it was a cut and paste…it sounded like a rep posted it/.

    • OMG "Nick zzz" is that really u ???, I knew I would find the BIGGEST NUT here at OzB, YEESSS !!!!! fist pump

    To above^^

You are getting somthing for FREE!
Why oh why do people always complain somthing Is not a bargain. Its free be happy!

    • Only if you already have Foxtel in the first place, maybe that's why some are complaining. :P

  • +17

So like with anything that is free, Reveen is pointing us to it so that it can be utilised. I skip right past all the movie channels because I know I don't have them… nor do I get their emails about it.

    Thanks for the heads up!

    • +2

Agreed, same scenario as above. Thanks OP

    • Thanks. Would have missed it as well.

    Thanks for the heads up.

If you're on Austar, you'll need to sign up for it. It's not automatic…

  • +2

The only time i miss Foxtel is free movie time twice a year.

  • +6

Foxtel never lets us know about this so thanks for the info! :)

    • Very true

    • I wonder how the OP got this email? I've been a customer for over 10 years and have never received any notification about these free periods…

      • FWIW I've been subscribed for a decade.

Checked my inbox history and found myfoxtelenews (not to be confused with Preview which is another newsletter) alerts began in June 2011. Never received an e-mail from Foxtel prior to that month.

My profile details on foxtel.com.au show:

"Receive FOXTEL Emails? You do not currently have email notifications selected"

        Weird.

There is another e-mail from June 2011 asking me to fill out a survey about a telephone representative's performance so maybe they added me to the mailing list manually after my call?

      • I found out about the free movie channel, while I was watching foxtel, a dialogue box came on screen for a few moments saying free movies channels and the dates. Only saw it the once, if I had blinked I might have missed it. I usually check the movies every now and again to see if they have them for free, I have been lucky a few times in the past this way. So I am madly recording as many movies that take my fancy.

  • +3

Great stuff. I still have a bunch of movies on IQ to watch from the last free movie time we got.

    • Haha … just came here to post exactly the same thing!

  • time to set pre recordings on !!!!

  • +1

make sure you record everything possible on your IQ box,
the recordings still work even though you don't have the channels in your sub :-P

    • do you mean i can still record every single channel i am not subscribed to?that would be insane lol

      • +1

yes but its no use if you are not paying for the specific channel package, it will record but when you try to play it will prompt a msg saying "You are not authorised to view this event" or something similar. but in this case with the movies it will work if you record for time period 19feb to 4march

  • Will go nicely with the 2 free months of HD they have on offer. :)

    • Wait what?

*Existing FOXTEL subscribers only. If you don't currently have a FOXTEL iQHD set top unit a $150 upgrade fee will apply. Ongoing additional monthly fee of $10 applies. Existing subscription fees apply. Offer ends 20.02.12. You must subscribe to the standard definition version of a channel to access its HD equivalent. Some services not available to all homes.

        • That $150 upgrade fee is the worst. Better than the $200 they were asking for previously, but still…

    • what did i say last about this kind of ppl who just like to neg a deal which attracts tens of votes? troll.

  • +2

Nice one - I never hear about Foxtel deals from Foxtel…only from OzBargain!

  • hmm good deal, however at their TOS, someone pls explain:

"Existing subscription and cancel fees apply."

If we cancel after 2 weeks, would we be charged?

  • awesome good timing.
i have just finished watching all my recorded shows on the IQ. I go nuts recording the movies and watch it when it suits me.

  • Those who are saying Foxtel never lets us know etc etc, If you have your email address in your profile then you'll always get an email. If not then you'll miss out.

    • my email is in my profile - I receive other emails from foxtel regarding all kinds of offers and programs

      I never receive these emails

Edit: I note that I get Foxtel through Telstra - I wonder if that has something to do with not getting the emails?

      • I got foxtel from telstra for almost 10 years and never got these emails from them. now I get it thru foxtel directly, still dont get it. And my email is in the profile.

… for once I want to receive junk emails from foxtel..

  • I don't get the email from Foxtel either so many thanks.

  • +1

This is only Movie one & those channels, not showtime.

  • wow.. missed this! was just googling to see wtf I had free movies…. lol.
