Sonos Sub Gen3 Black/White $999 (Bonus $125 TheGoodGuys eGift Card) + Delivery (Free C&C) @ The Good Guys

260

In the market looking for Sonos Sub and found this deal. I thought it is better that 10% discount which ended yesterday but the only drawback is you get $125 TGG egift card instead of cash discount. May not work for all but just posting as it may help someone in the group.

Also, if you pay with 5% off Gift cards (I buy from Suncorp rewards) then it would come down to $830.30

Please comment if this is good enough to pull the trigger?

My first post, so please be gentle!

An important thing to note is these GG gift cards have a really short use by time - 1 month with the recent one i got,
So if you dont have something else in mind to buy, you could end up wasting it or just buying something because you need to use it.

FYI this is a gift card rather than a store credit, so it should be a 3 year expiry on the gift card.

      • Good to know, when i got Dyson hair dryer it was an emailed code with only 1 month :(

      That's illegal

I don't think this is a particularly good enough deal unless you really needed it now. See previous deals and prices within the last year. During BF sales with TGG, price was $719.10 as an example, and that is before using discounted gift cards which would have made it $683.15 and you could have stacked further with cashback through Cashrewards to bring it down even further.

Also you can get 15% discount all year round through Unidays

If you can find stock of the Sub 2, I would go with that as there is very little difference between them to justice the price difference.

Oh wow! Thanks for the Unidays link - might be worthy of a post by itself!

No worries, and good luck. If you need Sonos surround speakers, I recommend the Ikea Symfonisk which have Sonos inside them to save some $$$ and can be connected with the Sonos app with the rest of your Sonos stuff. Just consider where you want to place them as they are larger and they have limited bracket options.

I got mine in the "As is" section of Ikea for $90 per speaker if I recall correctly, and mounted them under my Kitchen Island facing the TV but had to 3D print the brackets

        • I have two of these and they are great.

        • i have two of those symfonisk surrounds and they are fantastic!

        • If you are a true Ozbarginer you should try the IKEA Symfonisk Subwoofer Hack. Basically piggybacking off off the Symfonisks woofer and wiring it to an active subwoofer (you may even have one) Not quite what a Sonos sub will sound like but so much cheaper especially if you have an old sub lying around- and way better than no sub at all. Technically it's non-destructive too, if you are happy with wires out of the front otherwise you will need to drill and mount binding posts out the back of the speaker.

@JackFrost: I have been tempted but A) Dont know what sub to use and B) has anyone here done it..?

            • @JuryWheel: Any active/powered sub that has high-level input as far as I'm aware. Planning on doing it this WE

              • @JackFrost: I struggled to find a decent one under $300 really - no point spending more when you can get the sub for $800-1000 imo

                • @JuryWheel: Depends on brands but look on Marketplace, even if you buy a 5.1 system of someone and split it up there are heaps out there. Seen many Yamaha's for $100-$150 depending on size/age/features. At the end of the day it's likely to be hidden in the living room anyway.

                • @JuryWheel: Did it this weekend its works very well! I bought a used Yamaha YST-SW16 for $100 on Marketplace. Very impressed with the bass.

    • regretting not pulling the trigger on that amazon deal ! still the neighbours would be spewing, the bass on the playbase is enough!~

    • do you have to be a uni student to get UniDays?

      • I think you need a .edu.email, however I was able to successfully price match their price with the 15% off through TGGs quite easily

Waiting patiently for a deal on the Sonos Roam

JB has the same deal $999 plus $125 giftcard and free delivery.

Managed to pick one up last night for $870 (via price match) delivered and paid with discounted giftcards. Worked out to be $671.50 (minusing value of $125 GC) out of pocket.

    EDIT: Pricematched with PREMIER HiFi

    • Did you match the price online if this order was delivered?

      Thanks

      • +4

Called JB via 13 52 44 for pricematch and was advised that the purchase would still be applicable for the bonus $125 giftcard.

They send you a direct link with discounted value and you purchase it online, I used 4 giftcards.

        • Thx

        • would they price match in store the same?

are all the regular payment methods still available? (after pay, zip, GE/GEM/GO interest free)

    • Wow thats a GREAT price!

    • So did they still give you a $125 giftcard even after price matching? Its normally one of the other. Also, where did you get the GC's from?

      • They send out the giftcard 2 weeks later if purchase was made online.

Got the HIM giftcards a few weeks back @ 10% off and a couple of 5% off ones from Suncorp Rewards.

Confirmed just did this on the phone with JB - brilliant price! Hoping it does wonders with the Arc

          • @rdubs7: I hope so too! I find the Arc missing a bit from the low end, but to be fair couldn't expect much from the form factor.

            • @chuckwow: I just ordered one too and am hoping for the gift card to be honoured. One dude said yesterday that they couldn't price match due to the gift card offer but rang up again today and another dude price matched and said the gift card would be sent out. Have not seen the gift card yet. Have you gotten yours yet chuck?

        • Confirmed. And got them matched for $2100. Hopefully that I can find some GCs to get another 10% off.

Doesn't look like JB has deal for white sub otherwise I would have pulled the trigger.

      • +1

I tried to get them to honor the GC's on white and wouldn't budge - "apparently that's not being offered in that colourway". In white JB price matched to the below without any hesitations today:
        ARC: $1259
        SUB: $870
        Sonos One SL : $219ea
        Free delivery

TGG would offer the GC or the Price Match but not both.

I'm trying to get the full surround in white. Sonos 15% Upgrade + 2.5% cashback looking the most likely option at the moment…

        • Great setup! i am currently on more budget setup with white beam + 2 Ikea Symfonisk surrounds.

    • Thanks. was it free shipping too?

  • I recently bought arc and sub in white for 1170 + 830 + delivery from good guys, and also paid with 7.5% off gc as well.

Anyone know what's best option for getting Sonos one sl at the moment?

    • how did you get this deal? Is it advertised or have to negotiate instore? Thanks

      • Negotiated instore
And the gc is through work

  • Tried to get JB hi-fi to match it but since the item in on backorder at Premier hifi they wont honor it. Damn..

    • It's also $890 Delivered (Metro) @ Videopro if you wanted to try match there also.

  • Good guys is running 15% off tonight. Wondering if bonus giftcard offer stacks with this?

  • Good Guys have the white sub gen 3 available for $849.15 and you get the $125 gift card on top.

    Bought!
