Perhaps you can get it price matched at Sony, there's currently 8% cashback from Cash Rewards.
That's a great deal, but I'm not sure that lens ever got to $1,200-ish mark, for it to be $1,000-ish after cashback.
Would never shop there. Bad customer service at the city store. They do not price match (even though they say they do) and claim Digidirect are selling refurbished goods rofl.
That's unfortunate, I usually request price match online prior to visit.
But I agree Georges is generally not known to have the best price. However, I did buy a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 from them for under $1,900 back in 2013, that was significantly cheaper than the competition at the time.
I bought in the recent cash backs for:
Sony 24-105 f4 $1429 cash back $200 = $1229
That sounds about right, I remember it was $1,400-ish.
I paid $1,500 without cashback a few months back, pretty gutted. More so I don't use it much.

That was my other alternative. Better f stop and I think if looking I would go for sigma over the GM for the price. But I wanted the reach and mainly for travel and not really portraits so went for the 24-105 instead
