does anyone know if these can be hooked up to an android tv?

      • thanks for that. bookmarked.

    • Hi, we generally don't recommend webcams to be used with TV.

Hey - for what reasons pls?

        • Gonna hazard a guess because it will look like shite on a big screen tv. Not to mention you could suffer burn in on OLED TVs if webcams are used for long periods of time.

        • Android TV is not a platform for recommended usage as there might be compatibility issues with the device, since the product is not designed for it.

@CLPL: Well in that case the best way to ave the question is NO

            • @poxy001: But that's false.

Since it shows up as a UVC device, it should work just fine. CLPL just explained they don't recommend it (or I assume, wont consider it 'faulty' if it wont work).

    • Unrelated but I actually use a Portal TV for the kids to talk to their grandparents + relatives and to join some online activity classes on Zoom. It works pretty well and the kids love it if you don't mind Zuckerberg (and Bezos too if you want) in your living room. $129 isn't too bad either.

      • Yeh nah

  • Alright, I'm in. Thanks! :)

  • Do you offer afterpay?

I have one, been using it extensively in work meetings. I would prefer video to be less wide so it won't pick up all the mess I have around me - a teams background hides it though. Sound quality is good, I don't have smartcomms installed as its used with a work laptop which means it can pickup typing sounds if you've got a loud keyboard. I had one mate complain about not being loud enough on discord when I used the webcams integrated mic but I think that's more to do with him not having his volume set right than the webcam itself - everybody else seemed okay with the sound

I would recommend this webcam for a good value all in one solution, beats having to keep a standalone mic on the desk.

Not sure how true this is but apparently higher quality audio makes you sound smarter? Google it, food for thought if you're doing an interview over a web call or got a meeting with some big dogs so you might want to buy a standalone mic anyway.

  • Well, yes the video is good quality, but seriously - I look like a boiled lobster. The red colour balance is way too high. How can I adjust it? There doesn't seem to be any settings in the camera where you can adjust the saturation and colours.

change your nick to redless and it might work better :)

  • Is the V2 worth the upgrade for the auto mute and noise cancellation?

Edit: Doh, i see there is a v1 vs v2 vid! my bad

Damn, their software doesnt even have a mac release!

      • But does it work without the software on Mac as a plug and play?

edit: sounds like it does, but given minimal differences to v1, just went with v1 for $25 less.

  • What's a decent 1080/60 fps webcam?
