I noticed this little trick to get free international delivery being discussed again in the It Takes Two deal, and realised I haven't seen it posted as a deal before so I thought I'd post one.

It's been known for a while now to some, but for those who don't know what to do, simply add a different item (or multiple) sold by Amazon US or UK to your cart to hit the $49 minimum spend and place your order, then cancel those items and you'll still get free shipping for the item/s you want.

Mod: The OP has asked us to remove the deal, due to the reception it has received from some members. However we have kept it published, as it appears to be of benefit to many. Thanks

The more exposure this gets, the more likely it will be patched.

    • +20

      Lets keep quiet about it.

    • I've been doing this for years and have only mentioned it in comments a couple times for this reason, $10 Amazon US items etc, I hope this post doesn't get too much traction.

      • -2

What is everyone's go-to Amazon product for this?
(I reckon something worth 50 bucks then cancel.)

    • It’s like when ozbargain sussed out the Telstra cm2u data glitch… sigh.

    • -3

My mates from AWS are aware. Won't be long.

Lesson learned: ozbargain is not ozexposed.

      • +1

mY daD is JeFF bEzoS BrO

  • +1

What if you have no problem getting to the minimum lol ?

    • +2

      cancel something anyway lol

  • +56

Great way to get this hack removed

    • +10

Thats true but the voting guidelines suggests that its not a valid reason to neg the deal. The 3 reasons are:
      - The deal is not the cheapest available
      - Issue with product
      - Issue with retailer

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

I think this is still a good deal for people that don't know. Its like neging a deal because you don't want it to be sold out.

      • +13

That only applies if this is a deal in the first place. Is this a deal or is this a hack?

        • +3

          Non deal

  • +52

This is NOT a deal, it is a forum post at best. OP Please take it down.

    • +5

If you dont do this you have to pay for delivery though. Doing this makes it free.

  • +47

Since when is deceiving a seller to get free postage a deal?

    • +30

Oh what will poor Bezos do?

      • Block scammers?

      • +3

Bezos would never be losing out, the seller would be losing money.

    • I wouldn't want you at my party !

      • +13

        Sorry honesty offends you!

        • Yet another party pooper you are, he was just talking about parties you talk about honesty lol

          • +4

@sammyla: You need to work on your comprehension. The original context wasn't parties…

            • -3

@iamherenow: No we are actually talking about a party here mate you are a robot.

              • +4

@sammyla: Apologies for my stupidity. Has the catering been organised yet?

                • @iamherenow: oh yes it has been going on for a while now, but the stupid people keep ruining the party by talking about patches and loopholes and down votes etc, some don't want others to find out lol, some are so stupid they don't realize that if Amazon ever patched it it will save them some money because they probably wont get lured in to buying more stuff thinking they are getting free postage. enjoy the thread, isn't it fun?.

                  • +2

@sammyla: Every reply is a good laugh. Thanks, yes it is fun.

                  • +2

@sammyla: Had to give you an up vote for that. I enjoy a laugh.

      • +3

        Can I come? I enjoy a bit of a soirée 🎷

    • +2

How do you know this is not a deliberate business logic? Please go ahead and play devils advocate.

      • +2

Yeah right! I've also head shops want you to steal so that when police come, the police might buy stuff, and therefore stealing results in profit.

        • +6

To be fair without saying this is right or wrong, how is this different to other posts of massive price errors (which caused loss to the stores), or hacks for getting cheap Netflix, Tidal or other services that people signed up with fake email or physical addresses? Or buying stuff at educational prices when they don’t qualify? Would the same people down vote those deals too? 😉

        • +1

Do you use a VPN to get around geo blocks to watch Netflix bro? Lol just saying

    • -1

      Agreed, somehow it's allowed.

  • +7

Thanks for inevitably causing it to be patched now…

    • I never knew about this deal.

  • +5

  • +4

I've been doing this since Amazon did free shipping from UK for about a year in 2011. Let's not make this loophole too public ay?? Lol

  • What to buy from these stores that's really worth buying and not available in Australia? Can anyone share some links or item names?

  • +1

Forum… this will probably end up patched now. Was good while it lasted!

  • +7

No deal .Op please take it down .

  • Nope not a deal! Accidental upvote. Is there no way to remove?

    • +3

Click on the -ve button below the positive button.

Or you can revoke your vote by using the votes tab at the top of this page.

      • +1

Cheers. I had to revoke, it didn't let me vote -ve

        • Good , system is built that way to stop people like you chopping and changing things simply because you get swayed by what others are doing.you can’t make firm decisions so your vote doesn’t really count.

          • @sammyla: Bro I said accidental upvote. It was unintentional. That's an unnecessary comment.

            • @SaveTheManuals: hmm are you really thinking that much about an upvote that you try to revoke it?, its a free country mate, just relax. enjoy this thread, this sort of threads don happen often haha

  • +1

Against the "Refund Policies" section of the Deal Posting Guidelines.

    • I've always had problems finding items cheap at the UK store .
Any tips to combat the 40% + surcharge from OZ beside this deal if spending peanuts?

  • +1

I put through an order last week and was thinking about cancelling a whole order that was split between Amazon US and UK to do a slightly different one, and when I went to cancel half of it, it said that if I did it could affect other items in the order, I can't remember what it said exactly, and I decided I didn't want to cancel it anyway. But when I did the same thing a few months earlier, I don't think I got that message. So it might already be in the process of being patched, they just have a fake warning message up now and will stop it for real soon. I am just speculating.
