Didn't buy MobileCiti is dodgy anyway

It's run by some owner which I don't know on what practices they go thru but I had bad experiences in store before. Never again

  • Just reading all these comments now about it being US Verizon stock.

Given the SoC is SD840 across the board, would that not mean the frequency bands are just firmware limited? Can I not just flash the firmware from global/aus carriers here?

Asking because I convinced sister-in-law to get one… after convincing her to get a Pixel1 in the past that was riddled with the mic/sound chip issue

Seeing as TA has a rapport with Mobileciti, maybe TA can get to the bottom of this?

TA did state ‘100% Aussie Stock’ - which doesn’t appear to be accurate.

Mobileciti is down there with some of the worst after-sales service I have ever experienced.

Its a "mum and pop" shop, similar to Gamesman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gamesmen)

They may seem big online but is really just one local small business store somewhere in Aus. Of course you arent gonna get after sales service. Support actual big chains if you want good service.

      • +4

Except The Gamesman is a respectable company and it's disrespectful comparing them to mobileciti

    • +2

Yeha TA should follow up and perhaps ban MobileCiti from now on. Seller is arguably misconduct and misadvertising can get into serious issues. TA should not be a rep for them

    • +3

maybe TA can get to the bottom of this?

      Pardon the pun

      • +3

Hope TA is reading this. It might not be his fault BUT its misrepresenting as 100% Aussie stock and that is a lie.

MobileCiti should be accountable and process all refunds if ACCC is involved

        • -1

          But my commission

          • @Muzeeb: TA doesn’t get commission. Has been pretty clear about this.

            My post isn’t an attack

We need TA, as OP, to reply and clarify what is going on.
100% Australian stock means 100% Australian warranty, not limited US warranty.

      • Hi Sidor

        I have replied here

in term of warranty, yes you do get full AU warranty, with warranty feel free to contact our CS team or send me PM.

    dodgy distributor perhaps?

  • +5

This is as fraudulent as it gets.. genuine charger gets replaced with some cheapo noname one, they advertise as brand new/sealed but the original seals been broken and accessories have been tampered with, and it's US variant not Australian.

This store should be banned for making misleading claims.

    • +3

I can ensure you if nobody pointed that out, seller will just keep quiet. Now it's playing blaming game on distributor. For cheap no name power adapter lol that should be the first thing you can identify as non genuine

The questionable business practices aside, has anyone actually had issues with the phone not working on their network or band?
I'm on Telstra and everything worked fine out of the box, sms, 4g etc.

BTW i got this aftermarket charger in the box
    https://bigupgadgets.com/au/pd18w-a5-18w-pd-power-adapter-wa…

  • Same here…….Just checked my unit, still in the box. It could be US stock as explained in various posts. However, in practical terms, does it affect or limit the full useablity of the phone in Australia? Also received same charger as TommyGun

    • +3

You don't get official Google AU warranty for a start, charger next, and so on..

Why would you want a US model anyways when you bought an AU Model?

  • +4

Yes same here received a US model with a fake charger and tempered packaging, this is no way acceptable

  • +3

Just wondering is there anyone who received a genuine AU Model from this deal as otherwise it's a premeditated scam from mobileciti

  • Can anyone comment on condition of the phone itself?

  • +2

    I removed my like and it's a shame I can't neg.

I do not support this type of practice.

The only reason I thought it was a good deal is because of the supported posts I've seen previously..

Poor form, lack of transparency, lacklustre excuse.

They have updated their website to "Global variant"….

    • +5

That just proves they were doing it intentionally and when got caught, they have sneakily updated their listing.

Shouldn't they be banned from ozbargain already?

      • +1

        Report them then.

      • They updated listing and you call that sneaky lol

The sneaky thing is actually neither TA nor MC rep answering to all the concerns here.

Using one of these Pixel 3 Verizon variant phones from Mobileciti using a Boost sim and using LTE Discovery (Android app) I have noted usage off almost all Telstra LTE bands. 1, 3, 7, 28. Working fine in my area. I have not left home, so 4 out of 5 bands is good hit rate.

After reading the comments here I was concerned Verizon may have disabled some of the relevant LTE bands for my Aus usage.

  • Can we get another code for this one please? I missed out :-(
