Worth noting, as this is a store based promotion you can stack with another coupon (such as eBay plus $5 voucher or signup voucher) which may be in your account also :)

  • If my flatmate wants a cheap surface, is this one of the better deals around? Or should he wait a little longer? Is price comparable to other sales?

If your flatmate needs a cheap Surface with a bit of power and a decent enough screen and erognomics, its kinda hard look past the Surface Laptop Go right now. Harvey Norman have the 128GB model at $798 for an i5 and 8GB of RAM. Was listed on OZB earlier today. https://www.harveynorman.com.au/microsoft-surface-laptop-go-…

I bought the same spec for my mum to run her WFH setup and a bit of occasional media consumption. The only real negative either of us has noticed over a year of use is the lack of ports, which can be a little limiting when doing serious work, but a dongle or dock quickly fixes that. The battery life is also well below what Microsoft very ambitiously claims. Off the charger youll be lucky to top 8hrs of light use and closer to 4-5hrs of heavier use. If your mate really wants extra horsepower, they may get lucky and find a discounted Surface Pro 6/7 or Laptop 3, but you gotta remember with Microsoft you pay a lot for the design and build, much like you do with a Macbook. There isnt really such a thing as a 'cheap' one per se.

Is this terrible for mainly work-related things?
Web + Excel (not extremely heavy excel usage, I have a desktop for that).

    • Specs are decent for those uses.

  • Thanks, was sweating on the Core X for $470, then they jacked up to $499 and after discount picked it up for $424.

  • Anything good?

    • Some circle jerking going on about screen cleaner…
