    Job hifi?

  • Is there a subscription fee for using this?

    • Yes

    • +1

      Optional.
Subscription (Nest aware) gets you 30 days recoded videos and face/ familiar people recognition.
      It's about $60 a year.
Otherwise you get 3 hours recorded video I think.

I have the sub. You don't need it even with existing cams, but the functionality is worth it.

      • Ditto, the cost is negligible for what you get in my opinion. I'll keep subbing for sure.

  • If you have a few cameras the subs is def cheaper rather than multiple subs per camera..
I got 2x nest hub max and a few nest cameras so it's good

  • Does this record continuously or just the events? How long does battery last on these?

    • Only continuous (sort of) recording with Nest aware subscription.
Battery apparently lasts 1.5 to 6 months based on usage. I'll be hard wiring mine.

      • Thanks for responding, no good for me then. Subscription feels so unnecessary extra expense, could rather invest in adding a local hard drive. Wondering if there's any wireless cams that offer continuous recording? Solar panel being Possible solution to enable that. I mean with this there's always a risk if the cam misses an important event that you would want to review.

Is it just me or are these cameras getting a bit exxy in price. I use wifi enabled TP-link Kasa KC100 inside and KC200 cameras outside and they're maxing out at $50-$150. Yes they don't have a battery and they do 1080p (i think) but i also get free 12 hour storage via Kasa Cloud storage. Not knocking the quality but it better attack the robbers and vaporise them for $300+ a unit. Mine work great - not sure how much extra fruit i need to have in these things to justify the price…or perhaps i'm just a tightarse.

    • I agree, is there a reason these are so expensive? Eufy for example comes with a hub for local storage and extra cameras are a bout half the price of these. Reolink cameras are also about half the price of these and have cheap solar panels.

    • Google cams have always been pricey at around the $280 mark, sometimes discounted. Check prices for the old models indoors and outdoors at oz shops. And those are actually 2 generations old as the iq range never hit Australia I think. So compared to past google prices 329 for a brand new cam released worldwide same date isn’t bad. Of course more than other cams from different brands…possibly with security issues. Google cams tie into your other google items and are probably safer, better built and more reliable I guess

  • Can somebody clarify for me: does the Nest Cam have no infra red? It's totally useless in the dark? Can't find any mention of IR on the website. Seems really expensive if that's the case.

  • Note preorders are over as it’s release date.
Google have dropped the deal and job still mention the bonus but fine print says only for preorder so u may not get the code if u order from now on…u could contact them and they might do it tho.?

I received my Nest cam today but no Nest hub? Anyone else received theirs?

    • Did you order from google or JB hifi?

If google they should have despatched the week before, I have received mine in the week before

If JB hifi from what i read here, you should to redeem a code from JB hifi, pay for the postage and they will send to you.

      • I got it direct from Google. Jumped on the chat last night and they advised me to purchase one seperately then when it arrives contact them for a refund… weird not sure why, but have it all in writing and they followed up with an email to confirm.
