iPhone 4S 16GB $699 Free Shipping from Kogan

390

Awesome price. Just bought one for my daughter.

$100 cheaper than Apple, and comes with same Apple Warranty.

I couldn't find the iPhone cheaper anywhere. But, now have to decide on a pre-paid package - which one to choose?

Best pre-paid package might well be the unlimited calls/texts, $365 for 365 days one mentioned here a few days ago. Red Bull Mobile.

    • +1

I turn the 3G data off and use Amaysim pay as you go. Buy vouchers at Woolworths or Dick Smith for 120 days to use the credit.

      • How does that work - use the Woolworths data without a Woolworths' sim?

        • Amaysim sim. Turn 3G data usage off, so only use Apps when connected to WiFi (e.g at Home & Work)

      • +1

if u just turn off 3g u midas wel get ipod touch and use viber

        • +1

          3g data!

        • -1

Then it wouldn't work as a phone when I am not on WiFi… that's when I need it to be a phone!
I use the landline at home/work.

      • +8

Having an iPhone with no data is like buying a fat rubber dildo with no lube.

    • +2

+1 to red bull. you might as well add $1 to it and get a phone to sell off

    • im sure i'll get negged but I just go on vodafone 12 month contract for the 16gb 4S.

I just complain about the network coverage and end up paying $70 x 12.

I figure that's $840 and I virtually get all the calls I need… It's officially the $49 cap or whatever.. and I can unlock.
Even tho it's vodafail, $840 > 699 + $365 or other plus hassle of recharging and i get better data.

      • +2

You're why we cant have good things.

  • -1

Not sure about prepaid but in postpaid, if you go with Vodafone 12 month $49 plan - total cost would be $972 which comes to $699 towards handset and $273 towards 12 months validity, $550 credit and 1.5 GB data every month.

    • +5

TPG would be cheaper, and no contract.

    • +2

I have the 32gb over 24 months and total contract cost is $1058. $972 for twelve months is pretty exxy!

    • +2

      +0.5

Complain about the network and you can get it for $70 total per month.

      • Did you complain after a month or at the time you were signing up. Cuz dont they have a return guarantee for 30 days if unsatified with nework.

  • +5

I would wait for an iPhone 6GS instead.

    • Im waitin for the samsung galaxy S IV myself

  • does Kogan provide tax invoice?

    • You get an invoice without GST.

      • -1

That is interesting. Are they acting as a foreign company and selling internationally? Seems a bit dodgy with a local presence.

  • -2

I am trying to sell an iPhone 4S 32GB for $800 for a while now but still no one interested. What's going on…

    • +2

      because its too expensive obviously.

    • try selling it for $600-700

      • $700 is too much for 32GB, you can pick up a sealed 4s 64GB for $700 from people selling the phone from plan upgrade etc. Just need to find a motivated seller.

        • -1

I'd like to know more about this, please pm me.

        • roughana

No secret - just look through gumtree. I just bought one off a guy yesterday for $700. Another person was selling one for $600 but was wrong colour for me. Just a matter of patience and keeping a constant eye out for new listings and pouncing before someone else does.

        • +1

I'd be careful about Gumtree. One of the most popular scam sites due to lack of 3rd party tracking such as PayPal. Have heard too many stories of money paid but items undelivered.

        • -1

          I don't understand… If $700 is too much for 32GB, why do we get 14+ for a $700 16GB in OzBargain?

        • @ schimm - I agree at having to be careful - its a risk and I was a bit unsure being my first transaction on there. I suppose it comes down to assessing how the transaction feels and what you need to get some comfort. I ended up dealing with a guy that was very open about everything and very happy with what I got. Also - I would only buy anything on there that I could collect and hand the cash over at that time - huge act of faith to send money for someone to send to you.

@ wildstone - no idea why the votes. Having monitored ebay - 64GB are averaging $720-750 shipped. I don't see any difference between Kogan selling a new iPhone and someone on ebay. For a 32GB, I personally was looking to pay around $550-$600 sealed. I saw people trying to sell 64GB for $900 or 32GB for $800…its not going to happen, I would just buy it from Apple for the difference. Something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay - I lost a ton of money when I sold my bike 18mths ago - I just had to take the hit and get the cash that I needed at the time.

    • +1

      $80 shipping

      • what a ripper.lol

      • +2

You are right - found it confusing. Standard shipping is $80, but express shipping is FREE - bit of joke

To the OP. Look at the plans on offer from Live Connect (Optus Reseller). Some people have their reservations about an online only site but No lock-in contracts and $11 a month will get you $500 talk and text to anyone and 1.5GB a month (not taking into account the $500 quota for talking to others on live connect).

Alternatively $16 = $650 and 2GB (Plus 6000 free sms) and so on.

I'm about to get my dad onto this company and will probably move there after my current contract with 3 ends.

    • hope ur dad is savvy about data usage and included call usage. very easy to be slugged extra 300$ cos uve downloaded extra 450mb and made 1300 and 1800 calls! Pure prepaid is the way to go if u hate nasty suprises!

      • Agreed. Not for the those who are NOT tech savvy but in my experience, 1.5GB has served me well each month with the use of Wi-Fi at home and not having a reason to be calling any 1300 or 1800 numbers. It is something I will keep an eye on when I get him onto it though. Thanks.

        • woolies is pretty much same price, same carrier with few less calls but 3x data usage. something to ponder

  • wildstone i'll take your iphone 4s 32gb of you for $600

    • I'll take it if it is black for $625

    • -3

      We have 14 votes for $700 16GB … so how could a 32GB only worth $600?

      • I'm assuming it is secondhand.

        • -2

It is brand new and sealed and unlock… no difference from buying from retailer. Aus stock also, which of course comes with standard Apple Warranty. So I really don't know why $600 16GB gets so many votes when I am finding a hard time selling $700 32GB.

      • And does yours come with Apple warranty?

  • Looks like they're drop-shipping them out of Hong Kong. I wonder how the warranty would work?

    • Standard Apple international warranty. Take it to an Apple store.

      • Last time I checked, the iPhone was the ONLY Apple product that DIDN'T come with an international warranty. I'd be very happy to hear that that's no longer the case, but I have my doubts.

  • +3

Get woolies prepaid.. 5GB data 500$ calls $26 for 45 days(with woolies rewards card free to sign up - 10% off) = 17$ a month for pure prepaid.

Wouldnt go with liveconnect as u have to cancel 30day before plus not pure paid as if u go over ur quoter u could be up for 100's..not good for kiddies! where as wollies once u go over thats it.. 6 months till u have to recharge again.

Redbull is good deal but not always ideal to commit almost 400$ for a year! u never know what mite be in 6 months time.

    Woolies is safest option!

    • Just a quick update on Gavmans post…just paid $12.60 for a Woolies $29 recharge today (29 recharge voucher+$2 for a spare sim ;)-less $15.50 woolies discount less $2.90 everyday rewards discount-
hey maybe i should take the sim back tomorrow for a refund so the grand total will be $10.60 :)

      • How did you get the $15.50 discount ?

        • Did you read my post at all ?

          1. purchase a $29 voucher
          2. purchase a $2 sim
          3. scan your woolworths everyday rewards card (free from woolworths)
          4. WIN…or get the discount i listed in my post from 18 hours ago :)
    • Where does it say about free sign up with woolies reward card ?

      • true i must thank you for noticing i missed that from my original post
        (gold star 4u)

    • Got an unlocked iPhone today and thought about getting a SIM from woolies because that's who I'm with now and apparently they don't have microSims for Woolworths Mobile. Is this true? :O

  • @wildstone, may be because yours is a used one, but the one that is sold is a brand new. also clicking the + not means we are buying it…

    • -3

I am of course comparing with a brand new, sealed and unlock one. No point comparing used one and brand new. Same everything, even down to warranty (also aus stock vs kogan grey import).

Not trying to make a sale here I am just curious why votes are so many when myself is finding a hard time off loading a brand new phone. + votes in ozbargain normally means a reliable deal since members here are knowledgeable.

      • Maybe it's because you only have 1 stock. Not to mention there is more protection for us (the buyers) buying from a reputable store than from a private seller with no ABN etc etc.

  • +1

Those who want to get a sealed one from a private seller needn't worry. Apple has a one-year international warranty. Just register the serial number to your Apple account. You'll be covered for warranty purposes.

  • Are these guys considered an australia company with valid ABN? Curious to know if i can use shoppers insurance with my 28degrees card on this. (Understand stock comes from o/s)

  • im just waiting for the iphone10S

    • +1

      You mean the iphone X - this will change everything… Again… :)

  • i bet the iphone 100 gonna kill everything, wish coukld see that :(

  • -5

I am selling my brnad new 8GB iPhone 4 on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110830960067?ssPageName=STRK:MESE…

  • $100 did kill everything, but i should focus on looking forward to the iPhone 5.
