        • Thanks something to check when the replacement comes - apparently 3/4 weeks from the time of replacement email but not sure how that'll work with the current demand/shortage.

          • @assarabbiya: Yeah I'm a bit worried about how long service is going to take. Online chat made me do all the software, driver, bios, updates, then finally a full Windows reset. It still doesn't work, so now I think I finally get hardware service. Have to get back on chat.

            • @Iceman82: Update: I'm going with a replacement.
They said I can keep using the current laptop until the replacement arrives.
              I'm happy with that.

    • Update: replacement also had dead pixels (took ~ 3 weeks). Waiting for replacement #2..

  • Just wondering what memory chips are being used on everyones 3070? Mine seems to be micron.

    • Using HWinfo … yes mine are the same.

    • @aznsniper GPU-Z says my Memory Type on my 3070 is Micron too.

My system RAM is Micron as well - 8ATF2G64HZ-3G2E2.

      • Means that can't overclock the memory chips very much since they aren't Samsung, a bit of a shame :(

        • I think I'm going to be happy enough with a 140W 3070 as it is, and am glad I didn't get the dodgy RAM that Jarrod Tech had.

Spewin that the left speaker was DOA. Now have to do warranty stuff.

Also, the screen is nice and bright, but colours don't seem as nice as the Surface Book 2 or HP Spectre x360 13 OLED that I've used. I like a good screen, and I was hoping all the hype about the L5Pro screen would mean it's as good … but it doesn't seem like it so far.

          • @Iceman82: Is that because those laptops have glossy screens? I do agree do agree it doesnt look as spectacular as well, but i notice glossy screens just seem to look nicer but can be annoying equally at times

            • @aznsniper: Yes, I suspect you are right, I started to think the same thing.

After using it over the weekend (plugged into speakers), I stopped noticing the difference and quite liked it. I'm realising how often I adjust my screen at work due to all the reflections from ceiling lights - the matte screen will be nice to reduce this problem!

        • My replacement laptop has Samsung RAM for the graphics card and system. Is that a win?
Obviously you would have preferred Samsung for the video card, but system RAM?
Now I've got to do some more research … might have to figure out how to swap RAM if Micron is better.
At least both speakers work! haha

  • Here's a fun quote from my chat with support:
"All the machines are manufactured and assembled in China so ACL is not applicable"
Can that be true, if sold on an Australian based website?

I'm not very well informed on ACL, I just hear people refer to it all the time on here.

edit: To clarify, I bought from the Lenovo website, not eBay.

    • If you bought from Lenovo Australia, ACL applies. No different to Kmart selling chinese goods.

Check the invoice to see if it's from an Australian company (ABN or ACN number)

      • FYI there is an ABN at the top left-hand corner of tax invoices issued by Lenovo Australia.

Lol I was told that as well by a sales agent a few weeks ago, and knew that was complete garbage and technically illegal…

If you buy products from the Lenovo Australia website, you are buying products from Lenovo (Australia & New Zealand) Pty Limited (ABN 70 112 394 411).

The Terms of Online Sales for the Lenovo Australia website state under section 11.1:

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any statutory rights available to you under State and Commonwealth legislation, including the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)

Australian Consumer Law (ACL) is contained in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).

Therefore, any purchase from the Lenovo Australia website is covered under ACL.

    • haha ask them to send that to you in an email cos that is not legal.

      • I've got an email of the chat transcript.
Figured I'd better hold onto it!

  • So for everyone who have their laptops - what are your thoughts so far? More specifically, experience on gaming and thermals? I got a Razer Blade Base (with some upgrades) but am thinking of selling it and buying one of these when its available again.

So far I've had zero issues with mine. It just works.
Played BFV a bunch with no problems. Some of steam titles too. No problems.
I have a Klim laptop pad it sits on, so my thermals are just fine, even when the GPU is OC at Max via the bios.
Note that the Ryzen CPUs do run hot, and can top out at 105c I believe. But on average with my set-up it sits around 85c to 90c during a solid gaming session.
Last time I did a timespy benchmark, I got around 11,100 score.

  • Any owners of this laptop (or any AMD CPU for that matter) …
Check you have updated your AMD chipset driver to the latest!
