    • I would recommend the version below this one, which has 3060 ti, 16gb RAM & 500gb SSD for better savings

Are you referring to the Lenovo Legion 5 15" AMD (non-pro)? I'm not aware of any laptops with 3060ti

The screen quality on the pro is heaps better in comparison, double RAM, double SSD, and 3070 140W compared to 3060 130W on non-pro. I would say the upgrade is worth it for ~$4-600 if you can afford this.

      • +1

I agree, 3070 at this price is very hard to beat, I was just calculating what one could save by doing minor upgrade themselves & opting for a slightly lower version gpu, cpu, 16gb ram and a smaller ssd. Again, this is an amazing deal but if someone doesn’t needs the extra power then they would appreciate the savings.

    • linky link ? i cant find it

    • When you're dropping 2gs on a laptop, go big or go home. In this case the 140w 3070 is applicable

  • How do we know if this is actually in stock and ready to be shipped? I just ordered from Lenovo site on the last deal for a 3070/1TB/32GB, but the delivery date keeps changing.. first Nov, then Aug, then nothing, now Dec. Sick of this throwing at the dartboard estimates. Anyone know if i can I cancel that order and just order this and get it in a week?

    • +1

I did message them this morning at 9:30 and they said it is local stock and ship in 2 business days.

      • Sweet. Going to order from there then.
Do you or anyone else happen to know if I'll have any issues cancelling my existing order with Lenovo edu store order? Dont want to end up with two laptops lol

        • +1

Ignore above. Managed to call Lenovo to cancel my order and place an order through here.
Ebay Lenovo account also replied back and confirmed also that it is local stock as above said.

          • @stanw1201: I did the same as you. Almost the same laptop I had ordered had a delivery date of december through the lenovo website

          • @stanw1201: Ditto, cancelled my order on their site and ordered this. Same specs, 150 cheaper and likely to arrive 3-4 months earlier.

Seriously shitty service - months of delay on sold orders while they still do sales on the education and ebay pages.

          • @stanw1201: I tried to get Lenovo sales to match the eBay price so I could track the order (they couldn't). Seems like it's the same pre-built stock currently available in their online store.

I now ordered this from eBay and cancelled my Legion 7 order which had a delivery date pushed to December

  • This or the MacBook Pro M1?

    • +2

This is just a wrong question lol

    • +2

      Depends,
If you are going to use it for hardcore gaming, MacBook is the obvious choice

      • Did you mean "aren't"?

      • If you're looking for a class leading ultra portable with a compact charger then the Legion 5 Pro is the clear winner.

    • M1 has a more powerful CPU and a better screen.
This has a better GPU and more RAM.

    • M1 chips series Apple devices does not support Bootcamp for windows, nor do they currently support virtual machine like Parallels or VMware

      • +1

Parallels for the M1 does exist, however it can only virtualise ARM64 guests (Windows 10 ARM, Ubuntu 20.04 ARM etc.)

VMWare has also said that they are bringing a M1 build of Fusion to M1 by the end of the year (again, ARM64 guests only).

    • If you aren’t gaming then 9 out of 10 times MBP would be the right choice.

  • Got one, thanks OP! Was really close to pulling the trigger on one of the Nitro 5s but wanted just a bit more grunt and a better screen. Exactly what I was looking for.

  • why are they selling these when they are not in stock? I brought one from their store and I have to wait over 20 weeks for it?
So why do they keep selling them.
if they have them in stock why are they not shipping them to us .? 5head

    • +2

For whatever reason, they have different stock availability for eBay compared to Lenovo Store.

Two people above your comment said they contacted lenovo eBay and have been advised these are local stock and will ship in 2 days.

      • this cost more then the store order I placed, same specs just more ram and bigger ssd, i would order this but ti cost more for stuff I dont need.

        • +1

You also need to take into consideration whether it is worth the indefinite wait with no ETA (or very pushed out dates) for the extra (slight?) cost.

          • @CodeXD: slight? Mine was only 2259 with cash back. included this is 2600+ and I can replace the ssd free, and buy a ram stick cheaper
I guess wait since everyones canceling theirs now lol for this

            • @Rukiata: That's a good deal with cashback if it does track. Otherwise looks like it was $2,464.15 delivered?

              • @CodeXD: yep and it has tracked already

                • @Rukiata: Bit silly, I still got the AMEX deal for $200 cashback, but only through the Lenovo shop which is annoying, as CodeXD said, is it worth the extra cost for the indefinite wait…
Decisions, decisions, would have been a killer deal for me otherwise!

    • Lenovo have always does this. Seem to like to sell as much of their inventory in advance of the machines being built as possible.

  • This or a legion 7 ?

  • Why not buy from Education store, get 7% cashback from CR and also AMEX $150 cashback. Would come way lower than this
$1999 or lower after edu discount, CR cashback and AMEX cashback would be super special.

@tightarse - Where's a special 10-12% cashback and work a special deal with Lenovo. They have stock to clear this lockdown :P

    • +2

Feel free to post the deal if it is cheaper from Education store. Personally I do not have access to it so unable to confirm any pricing.

    • What are the specs exactly?
      Same screen, GPU?

      • Yep exact same SKU. In stock for delivery in 2 business days on the Lenovo Edu store

    • i thought lenovo education store doesn't get the CR?
      from Lenovo CR site:
-Cashback is ineligible when using codes not listed on Cashrewards.
-Purchases made through Lenovo's student store, staff discounts, corporate deals, and negotiated offers (phone/email/chat) are ineligible for cashback.

    • +1

CR or shopback both not applicable on lenovo education store/negotiated prices

  • From what I can see going through Unidays, the same specs works out to be $2672.10 using a voucher code. Not sure if this will invalidate any CB. The Amex cashback of $200 should still apply.

    • May I know what Amex cash back are you referring to?

  • It's beast mode!

  • Must say it's a good deal when some other crappy built 3060 is asking $2000+

  • not just good its a amazing deal just sucks because i dont know what to do with my current Lenovo model

  • How loud will the fan in this be? Specs seem good but if it sounds like server rack idk

    • not sure but it has superior high quality cooling supposedly

  • Has anybody faced issues with payment on these eBay offers?
I add my card, press pay, money gets deducted and then ebay shows an error message regarding issue with payment and doesn’t go ahead and place the order.

    • Happened to me when i tried to pay with google pay. I've got 3 pending transactions now. Glad i didn't use my debit card.

  • Would this be an overkill for 4K video editing or photoshop work for graphic design ?

    • +3

No. It would be well-suited for it.

      • Thanks

  • It was $2,439 3 months ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/617113 and was Out of Stock very quick

  • 95.2% Positive Feedback on ebay thats almost the worse feedback Ive seem on ebay.
As 90%+reviews are auto 5 stars the seller must be very very bad

  • Any recommendations for a cable to connect this laptop to an external display using display port?

  • Good price, although actually 200 more expensive than the student deal 3 months ago.

    • +2

4 months, and that was on lenovo education which not everyone has access to.

  • Hey guys I am applying the LNVO20 code on eBay under
    - check out
    - gift cards, voucher coupons
    - LNVO20

    And then it's saying
    - this code can't be applied to your order. Is there anything I am missing?

    Cheers

    • +1

I just did a dummy run as a guest and it worked for me. Are you sure you are putting it in the Add vouchers or coupons section after you have signed in and/or chosen your address?

Try a different browser or device.

      • Thanks for checking.

Yes I am. I tried it both through my app and on my computer

    • I'm actually mindblown they haven't sold out yet; they must have over 50 of these suckers in their warehouse. It looks like they still have over 10 left so you should be good if you can't get the issue sorted soon. FYI, the code also works on my end

Edit: Nevermind, it's sold out lol. Hope you managed to get one!

  • -3

    not really that great value.

  • Thanks OP, great deal. Managed to order one before running out of stock.

  • For anyone who's still interested, try getting into the education or unidays site.
Same specs were $50 more earlier today.

I opted to spend $2402 to get similar but with less ram and ssd, 16gb and 512gb.

    • I had done the same but the expected shipping date was Dec 2021..

  • I ordered on the 6th of August from Lenovo Edu Store, now its showing that its going to be shipped on the 14th instead of the 2 business days shipping. Expected arrival is on the 18th august. Pretty misleading.

    • This is local stock and ready to be shipped out in 2 days as per comments here and here

      • Yeah but I ordered from the Lenovo Edu Store, contacted support chat, and they told me they got local stock here in Sydney, yet its more then 2 days shipping.

      • Edit: Now my order has been updated yet again, and it says its actually been shipped out now. Seems like their estimated times are a joke.

        • +1

I swear Lenovo sales staff throw darts at a calendar to determine estimated shipping dates.

  • I am so happy with this deal - also I can salary sacrifice this for work so effectively paying with pre-tax income and as I am on the highest marginal tax rate basically get to take another 47% off the price. If your company allows salary sacrifice of PEDs definitely make sure you take advantage of it!

    • How exactly do you go about doing this? Through this ebay deal or directly through Lenovo store/edu store?

      • +1

Shouldn't matter where you buy it from for sal sac purposes.
At my company you buy it from wherever, submit the receipt for expense claim, and then sal sac to pay for it out of pre-tax income.
You don't have to pay the GST amount either for for OP it's more like 55% off.

    • +1

I am on the highest marginal tax rate

      nice flex

  • +2

Ordered from this deal yesterday around 1pm.
Just received a text from DHL that delivery will be tomorrow.
    Thanks OP!

    • +2

      #samehere

    • +1

Me too. DHL as well… and not Fastway

    • +1

      Delivered just now - Yeehhaaaa!

  • +2

DHL driver - “Why so many laptop today?”. Me - “OzBargain baby”..

    • hahaha

      • Doormat DHL !

  • +1

Now that it's in a few people's hands, can anyone comment on if the 3070 is LHR or not?

    • How does one find this out? What do I need to do to check?

I can confirm the RAM timings are good. As in, they are not the bad timings which Jarrod's Tech video discovered with other Legion 5 Pro's.

      • +1

Sorry for the late reply - the surefire way to know would be to start mining some ethereum and take note of how many megahashes/second it does after a couple of minutes to settle in. If it's around 30mh/s it's most likely an LHR model. If it's around 50-60, then it's a non LHR model.

If you're new to mining then I'd suggest to get a metamask wallet which is free to sign up to, and then watch some youtube tutorials on how to setup a miner to mine to your wallet.

I recommend mining to metamask (you can also mine directly to an exchange wallet if you'd like to sell the coins you make without having to transfer from metamask to the exchange), and using Phoenix Miner downloaded from their github link. I highly suggest you research everything I just wrote and make your own mind up about which wallet and miner you'd like to use.

EDIT: Guys, it's been 18+ months of the mining craze, negging me because I'm teaching someone how to mine is petty, pathetic and not going to change anything. It would be helpful to everyone to know if it's LHR or not regardless how you feel about mining pricing you out of GPUs.

        • Ah I see. Thanks for the guide. I never really touched mining before. Appreciate it.
I was hoping it would be a bit of an easier way to tell.. Like identifying the gpu ID or something 😅

          • @SueyJitSu: No worries. I just found a link that can help identify without actually mining: https://min.news/en/tech/47bd08bef9364b56e6f5328b0e8dc5ca.ht…

If you download GPU-Z and look at the 'device id' for the 3070 it should tell you if it's the LHR model or not by referencing the "2. Identify the GPU device ID and part number" table from the above link.

            • +1

              @studentl0an: Righto - so GPU-Z is showing:
              Device ID = 10DE 24DD - 17AA 3A4F

And Nvidia Control Panel > System Information is showing:
              Part Number = 4735 0010

So I dunno how that relates to the table exactly.

Also notice in GPU-Z that the GPU name is "GA104".

              • +1

@SueyJitSu: Thanks for the information. It's strange, it looks like the 3070 has neither the LHR nor non-LHR identifier. It appears laptop 3070 have their own device ID and I can't find any information as to if an LHR laptop 3070 even exists.

That device ID is what Lenovo use for their 3070 in a laptop:
                https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/234641/234641

Considering the build date is 03-03-2021, I think that's well before LHR cards were a thing so if I had to guess I'd say it's non-LHR. It appears to be the best 3070 in a laptop. Coupled with one of the best CPUs and screens to ever be in a laptop, it's going to be one awesome gaming experience for sure.

      • +2

can also confirm that the RAM is good. I opened my laptop to install a new SSD and found the following modules:
        MTA8ATF2G64HZ-3G2E2

This is a 1RX8 module rather than the bad 1RX16 modules that have been sneaked into laptops recently.

  • Look for dead pixels guys.. just logged a service call waiting for a response..

    • Thanks for the heads up, will do.

    • Thanks for the heads up.. My screen seems all good :)

      • +1

My screen is fine, and I've got the good RAM, but my left speaker doesn't work. All the sound comes from the right only.
