I've had a queen for 18 months and no complaints so far.

    • +5

Ditto, had it for close to 2 years and no issues. Better than most boxed mattresses but not as good as some of the premium brands.
If one is used to firm, suggest get "extra firm" as the firm is not as firm as would be expected ordinarily.

    • +2

I'va had a king single for my daughter for almost 2 months. For the price it's great and she is sleeping much better and warmer now. It also feels comfortable whenever i have to go and lay down with her, with the previous mattress i used to wake up with back pains.

From previous deals' comments, these seem pretty good for a guest room bed or for kids beds, so i look forward for it lasting a few years. It does get a little saggy on the edges, but that might also be caused by the fitted bedsheets.

If planning on using these for kids, be aware that they are very thick, so bear that in mind as the kids might have some issues getting onto the bed my themselves (happened during the first week to my daughter)

      • +1

Is it possible to have kids who are not very thick?

        • Probably depends on their parents genes

        • Yes don’t allow them to supersize their Mac as or hungry crap meals

        • Well it falls under "cheap shot". Some creepy a*holes are so insensitive that they don't realize they are commenting about someone's daughter.

      • On a serious note, I was looking to get some cheap singles like this for some bunks I restored, but they are too think. I got away with one on the bottom but on top the mattress clears the safety bar so it's a no go.

    • +2

Glad King didn't bother asking her queen back..😝

  • Anyone have a review of the single? Im wondering if the edge support is too weak for a small mattress?

    • +1

I have one, and found the edge support to be a bit weak for an adult my size (6 ft, 90 kg). However, it is primarily being used by my son, who has no complaints. The mattress is very comfortable otherwise, and miles better than the crappy Ikea one that I have for myself (which was much more expensive as well). YMMV.

  • Can't see option to chose firmness? Is it all extra firm

    • +1

No these have firmness rating of 7, the extra firm have different listing this one is the queen size. Firmness rating of 9.

  • +30

noticeable sag after 1 year. would not buy again. (~90kgs fyi)

    • +10

same, definitely has sunk in. Cant flip the mattress either.

      • +6

        agree, same here

    • +1

Still much cheaper than premium brands where you 1000$ +
Although when you keep changing mattresses, they end up in garbage I believe.

    • i bought a Zzz Atelier queen about 2 years ago, am 50kg, and have recently noticed a sag in the middle of the bed [i sleep in the middle]
am thinking of trying to flip it top to tail but not sure of that will achieve much

      • +2

Bought my Zzz Atelier queen in 2019, am 65kg, and sags in the middle. Flipping top to tail doesn’t do much. I now sleep at the sides where it’s firmer.

        • +1

on the same boat but find myself waking up in the middle where its sagged..

          • @plal: Yeah it's because we tend to end up rolling into the middle anyway :/

Personally I went and got an IKEA Malfors foam mattress and put it on top. Sleep quality vastly improved since.

    • Extra firm or firm version?

  • bought the extra firm queen, will update once received

  • +2

Not perfect but easily the best mattress I have owned. I have L3/L4 lower back troubles and 9/10 times I go to bed sore, I wake up feeling great. If it's really bad sciatica then more intervention is needed but all in all, for the price, bargain. I paid $299 so this is even cheaper now.

About 16 months in I've noticed some sag issues. I recently rotated the bed around as I tend to lie on one side, or the middle most. For the price it's not an issue considering the good nights sleeps I'm having thus far.

  • +1

Any better than the IKEA ones?

    • +3

Just note that IKEA sizes are the European sizes, so they are like 2-3cm shorter on each side. May not fit your bed frames (and vice versa, bed frames may not fit your Australian sized mattress)

  • +16

mine sagged in less than a year

    • your weight if you don't mind?

      • +4

aspy never reveals his true identity.

        • But this spywill. 85.

          • +1

@spy: fully equipped or naked net weight?

      • Some sag present in mine after 16 months. I'm 78kg (6'1) though up until recently was 86kg. It's certainly not bad, just present. Still very comfortable and rotating bed helps a lot too.

  • WA delivery is $69 bringing the total to $333.77. Would that be the cheapest or am i doing something wrong?

How much are the east coasters getting charged for delivery?

    • Free for me in sydney

    • Bought one a few years back and paid around $70 for delivery to Perth. They used to have to do custom orders for WA too (got given a special one off eBay coupon)

    • Just checked got mine back in 2019 for $284 delivered (WA)

  • We purchased these for the kid's beds.

The only complaint I have is the size, each was around 10cm shorter than the bed frame (and the previous mattress). We added a chopped pool noodle at the end of both beds to hold it in place.

Other than that no issues, great for the price.

  • Can you buy the base to suit or mattress only ?

  • +1

Have not used one, but always been curious. I note on their warranty page they state sag must be at least 38mm but excludes the comfort layer, cover, and foam compression. So basically the springs have to be royally screwed and probably want it to be obvious without weight being on them in the photo you have to provide. Basically it sounds like they know it ain't gonna last much longer than 6 months for most people and only really covering obvious manufacture defects.

We need a new King mattress, currently using my old OzMattress Grand Master that has been great until the past 12 months but a bit worn now with sag on either side. Has had a good run. Anyone who had one of these suggest replacement? I was looking at a Sleep Republic and Sleeping Duck.

    • I have this, and it's amazing.

You sure it's sag? Apparently the GEL can shift out of place and that's what happened when I moved it on 1 side. Very difficult to fix, even tho they were great about warranty and covering 1 way transport it would still cost me $600.

      • Honestly, i don't know. I would think it is since i can see if even when not on it. But it's a bit irrelevant given they went out of business right? :)

        • Yeah, when I moved mine I noticed the dip and it was them who told me.

Their manufacturer is still in business, and they still have support. They did when I contacted them ages ago, but no harm in trying. Definitely would of been good if I was in Melbourne, but I'm not.

          • @[Deactivated]: I'm not in Melb either. I moved the mattress once 2 years ago when moving house but nothing obvious untoward at the time.

  • +4

Was amazing when we got it 2 years ago. Now it’s terrible. Sag in middle after about 6 months

    • same, sagged in the middle, caused back issues, got binned.

  • Can't speak from experience as I've never tried it or even seen one. I know the neice purchased one and hated it which I just couldn't reconcile with what I always read here. Guess horses for courses.

    • +3

I think some of these very high count very high rating review sellers/sites incentivize buyers to leave positive reviews in exchange for partial refunds or even refunds and let people keep the items. Its all very shady.

I would only recommend these cheap mattresses to people that are super light weight (maybe 60kg max), traditional big brands will usually give a weight rating per side.

    • +4

I've noticed the review got worse on Ozbargain since they refreshed the mattress in 2019. Before that, there wasn't many report of sags.

  • Purchased a double, extra firm for $206. Hope this is good. Sounds 50/50 so far from the comments.

  • +2

Don't expect much on warranty. 2 years in mine sagged, support never got back to me.

For the price 2 years is actually pretty good.

  • +5

Friends don't let friends buy zzzAtelier.

No edge support that's a known issue with many box mattress. My problem is even with extra firm it is soft asf and mine sagged after 1.5 years (~60kg).

  • Good quality mattresses but a word of caution that some of the mattresses are very thick. I think the one I bought was 34CM and was too high for my bed so I ended up selling it on GT for loss.

  • Anyone know the thickness of the latex?

    • There’s no latex . Guessing just foam and springs. It’s listed at 34 Cm thickness

  • +1

Kind of makes you wonder about the mark up of premium mattresses if they can make and deliver one for under $300

    • +1

Those huge floor spaces ain't gonna pay for themselves!

  • any reviews against brands like ecosa etc?

  • +7

Sags in the middle. Don't buy.

    • +1

Why don’t you nef the deal

      • +2

        Thanks for the reminder sir.

  • +3

Bought a queen in November 2020 and it started to sag in the last few months. Currently in the painful process of getting a refund - I have to take several photos (showing the sag was not enough).

    I'm 60kg and my partner is 70kg.

I had the old version and loved it so much that I bought the new version for my new place.

Can't way I would recommend this mattress anymore. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm thinking of spending $800 this time… Life's too short for lower back problems in your 20s.

    • +1

I've tried a few of the bed in a box brands and have returned 2 so far (Koala and Eva) I'm currently trying out the ecosa and it's the best so far but it's on the higher end of the prices was about $1k the other one, if you like a firmer bed you might like the Eva Mattress that's under $800.
Check out bedbuyer website if you wanna see some decent reviews and see most of the options. Koala was an all foam mattress (no Springs) and I found it weird to sleep on and kind of boaty if that makes sense.
I've only had this Macoda for a bit under 1 month but it's looking like I might keep it at this stage otherwise Sleep Republic is the other one that people have recommended so that'll be the last one.

      • Thanks! I was thinking about Eva actually. I saw people on Ozbargain compare Eva with SR as they're the only two (from what I can see) that have springs and said Eva was comparable and cheaper.

      • That’s a brilliant idea! Trialling mattress all year then return them all! 120 day return policy! Then next year get my wife to order them!

        • Haha yeah you could do that but they take a month or so to settle in an trust me it's not worth the agrivation just to get a new mattress every few months, tbh I think they basically double/triple the price to cover all the returns and shipping ect. But having said that other than the koala they have seemed better quality than cheaper ones I've slept on at friends places.

  • +2

Is this good for someone that gets plenty of action? asking for a friend.

  • +1

At first it was nice and firm, now its saggy and no one wants to sleep with it

    • +8

Hey don't drag me into this

    • Welcome to marriage!

  • +2

I had one of these for two years or so, Im quite heavy (~100kg) and made a groove/ big sink hole on my side and ive had to replace it.
i mean its allright for $200, but the luster dies out after a few months.

  • +2

Currently going through warranty process now. Had almost 3 years, however noticable indentation where we lie, with the middle being much more pronounced/higher.

For everyone's benefit this is what has been requested by them to show sag. Job for the weekend, however living in an aprartment with a proper bed head/frame I don't know how I'm going to find space to put the mattress down on a hard floor without dismanting bed.

"Thank you for getting back to us on this.

We understand from you message that your mattress has physically changed in shape, and now has permanent indentation on it when no external pressure is applied. In order for us to assess this, could you please provide us a few photos, as below?

    1. Place the mattress on the floor and take a photo showing the entire mattress from top
    2. Place the mattress on the floor and take a photo showing the entire mattress from side (preferably showing the problematic spot if possible)
    3. Place the mattress on the floor and take a photo of indentation measurement of the problematic area (please see instruction below on how to take this photo)
    4. Photo showing the bed frame and the slats the mattress is placed on (without the mattress)

Please take photos of the mattress without any mattress protector or bed sheet put on it. For photo 3, to clearly show the indentation it is best to place a straight item (e.g. long ruler) across the entire length of mattress, and using a measurement tape, show the depth of the indentation (please see attached photos). Please only measure the depth to mattress surface and not press into it. Please also do not measure into button/tufted holes. To ensure accurate measurement is taken, please ensure the mattress is placed on hard floor when photo 3 is taken. Kindly please provide us with all the requested photos, taken exactly as per described so we can help looking into this case and assist. When taking the photos, please also ensure that you take each and everyone of them as they will be required by Zzz Atelier warranty service.

    Warm Regards,
    Zzz Atelier Outlet"

Regardless of warranty claim still would consider buying again. Under $300 for a mattress I got 3 years out of. I'm circa 110kg, my wife 60-70kg. I spent $7k on a mattress and only got 5years out of it before I noticed issues and persisted for 2 more years before buying this one.

    • If the warranty goes through what happens? Do they replace it with a new one and the old one needs to be sent back ?

      • One would assume so, unfortunately haven't got that far yet.

I assume old one just gets dumped, hopefully they take it for me.

    • Good luck. They drag it out as much as possible until you just give up.

  • $75 shipping to qld even though I have eBay plus and live in a coastal city. Not even sure why I still have an eBay account at this point.

  • +1

Have had mine for 2.5 years, and there is a significant dip in the middle (75kg male for context) - this became noticeable after around a year in.
As long as any potential buyers know that going into it you'll likely be replacing in a couple of years, perhaps sooner if you're on the heavier end.

On a slightly unrelated note, has anyone successfully had a replacement issued via their warranty period?

  • +1

Too much of the 34cm is foam so it just compresses and you sink into a hot mattress. Extra firm one is better IMO, it was too firm for side sleeper like me but additional 5cm topper made it perfect

  • Along with the sag issue (3 year old matteress) we have also had it not fit on our queen bed frame. It is loose and keeps on moving creating a gap of 3-4 inches where the pillows go. Either the bed is too big or the mattress is too small.

  • +1

I love the way it says "Chiropractor endorsed" along with a picture of someone sleeping on their stomach… Any Chiro will tell you that sleeping on your stomach is a big no no for your spine.

    • +8

And on top of that, Chiropractors are also full of shit and not medical doctors, so their advice should be almost entirely disregarded

      • here, have my upvote.

      • After much suffering, I have actually received great relief from a Gonstead Chiropractor and now I only see one once per year or less.

  • +2

    I'm guessing I got a good one, I'm 100kg, partner is 75kg, 2 years on and there's a minimal sag in it.

Last mattress cost $1800 (was a $4k mattress on sale) and after 7 years I was dealing with massive back pain that this new one fixed. $250 a year for an expensive "orthopaedic" mattress vs less than $150 a year so far for this one.

The wastage sucks (although up to 75% of a mattress can be recycled), and I expect to still get another year or two out of this one, so I'll happily buy another.

    • May I ask when bought yours? Thanks. Would like to find out whether mine one (recent purchase) is a good one or old model. Thanks

      • +1

Aug 2019. By getting a "good" one I don't mean a specific model or batch, it just seems some are lucky and others are not.

        • Thanks. Yes, I understand that. Thanks for your reply :)

  • Got the old model. 2 years in. I'm bout 80kg and Mrs is 55kg. No sag and I'm sleeping perfectly fine on it. Luck of the draw with the sag issue.

  • OOS for queen already?

    • I have to go to seller's profile to find a Queen size.

  • Old model 2 years in. No issues at all. No back issues. Kids have the newer models which is definitely thicker than mine. They are only 7 and 9 but they seem to sleep quite well in them and I’ve slept on them a few times.

  • Does it include the ensemble as well? Thank you

    • Just mattress.

  • Had queen for 2 years, no issues. 72kg male. Have since upgraded to a $1600 Sleeping Duck and I would say the Zzz Atelier was 75% as good. The SD is noticeably more comfortable, but the Zzz is undeniably better value if you're strapped for cash. Perfect for a spare room or kids mattress.

  • For those who don't recommend or have had bad experiences with this brand, are there alternatives you would recommend?
I remember an old name Marce Blanc (similar tier price as Zzz) used to be promoted around here too. Just wondering what's out there for when I move out one day!

    • +2

Looking at mattresses a while back the ZZZ Atelier was coming up as the budget option. Ended up going with the Eva mattress which is in the next price range up and reviewed well.

After close to a couple of years worth of use there was no noticeable issues. Would choose that again over this based on the comments in here about sagging after some time.

      • Thanks!

  • +1

I bought one recently (Extra firm) i.e. less than 1 month, wondering to those who said they have the old model, how could they tell? Thanks in advance. Would like to find out whether mine is old model or not.

I havent tried the mattress yet (still in package) as I was dealing with their customer service, but already very satisfied with their quality & prompt customer service

    • +1

the extra firm is a different item and does not have old and new as far as I know. This listing however has an old 5 zone and new 7 zone, some reviews indicate the old one is firmer and slightly better. I have the extra firm and happy with it, bought this one and arrived today I find it a bit soft for my back, comfy but not good for me, prefer the extra firm that I have in the other bedroom
