ASRock AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Challenger D 12GB GPU & Cooler Master MWE White 550W 80+ PSU $999 Delivered @ PCByte

100

Dual fan AMD 6700 XT GPU. I could only find one review of this particular model and it seems positive enough.

There are three Asrock Challenger 6700 XT models and this is the cheapest one with 2 fans rather than three on the others, and is 2 slots wide.

Not the greatest deal of all time obviously but after some decent research it's the best I can find today.

Also comes with a cheap (~$60) PSU that seems to have decent reviews also.

Has free shipping as far as I can tell but I didn't actually buy it.

Limited stocks only. Limited to 2 per household.

Recommended PSU for a 6700XT is 650w. Why.

    • +1

On a good PSU this is overkill, yes. On a bad PSU it is better to recommend a higher amount to cover their bases (as don't want to push a bad PSU to explode)

Misread the intent of your comment (PSU provided is too low) - please disregard my post.

Anyone thinking about buying this deal please don't. Recommended PSU for this 6700xt is 650W.

    link is 404 now

  • Recommended watts is always conservative as the 6700xt draws 230watts.

Also not all PSUs is going to give you 80% efficiency.

A 650 watt PSU vs a 550watt PSU with 80% efficiency will be the same.

In this case the 550 watt PSU with 80% efficiency will provide you with 440 watts of usable power. 230 watts for GPU leaving you with 210 watts for the rest of your system which is plenty.

    • I think the point people are making is that it's not worth the risk using a cheap PSU on an expensive card.

      • The bundled power supply is fine. Been using in a 980ti build for years

  • gone…. that's quick…

    • As noted even without the PSU it's still the cheapest 6700 XT on.the market. Some people seem to prefer it without the PSU.

Not if I can sell the PSU easily for 50….

        • You can buy it brand new and delivered for less

  • Hand over the rtx 3080 deal 😩

Hope this isn't the same situation as the recent gigabyte 750w

To summarize, gigabyte made a power supply that pops under less than ideal conditions, and Newegg knew this. Rather than chuck them, they bundled them with graphics cards which are currently a hot commodity. When the power supply broke and people tried to return it, newegg said that because they were sold as a pair, if they wanted to return the psu they had to return the graphics card as well.

wow, what a d*** move by newegg i gotta say.

    • Same for AU retailers
I got a pre-built system from techfast, and requested them don't give me GP-P850GM as widely reported issues, but they still supplied it.

  • I'd be a bit weary of the Challenger D. IIRC it was hardly better than the pretty bad reference 5700 XT last generation and without reviews I can't really say it'll be much better. The Challenger Pro with 3 fans however is in line with the Gigabyte Gaming OC, which has average cooling, so I wouldn't be expecting silence from this one.
