It says it has a resistive touch screen

  • +2

Text in catalog says resistive touch NOT capacitive touch. Okay you beat me by 15 secs.

So, is that discounted or not ???

jv, apparently was $79, now $59

  • This phone is about the price. Great little Android I purchased half a year ago happily for 99, good features - small price. .. Then, a few months later, the Acer Liquid Metal made, for me, a nice follow up.

unfortunately, the reviews aren't so good.

    I would add another $20 for a Huawei X3

X3 is pretty poor as well, small poor res screen, very laggy. LG Optimus One (P500) is easily the best Android phone under $100 IMHO.

      • Agreed !!

      • Optimus One and X3 have the same resolution:320x480 capacitive TFT

Optimus One has 512MB ram while X3 has only 256MB RAM. This is why Optimus one is better.

X3 has the secondary camera and X3 is lighter 104g though.

        • Fair call, X3 is pretty close to Optimus One in specs, I was thinking of the X1 which has 2.8" screen at 240x320, and slower processor. I would still go for the LG though, my wife has one and it is surprisingly zippy for a cheap phone, and the GPS works well.

      • Agreed!!

Don't waste your $$ on a resistive touch screen phone.

Don't waste your $$ on a resistive touch screen phone.

I think you mean a cheap resistive screen. e.g. the N900 was resistive and had no complaints in that area.

They work fine, though it's usually worth paying a little more for a better user experience.

OTOH, I'm a huge fan of cheap android devices as appliances. With the right app and a power source, you have an extremely versatile piece of fully-networked hardware, with camera/mic and GPS. Remote webcam, security, baby monitor, GPS tracker, remote music/radio streaming (push songs via DLNA to your stereo), intercom, mobile time lapse photos - the uses are endless.

I got a Huawei U8300 for $29 last year - pretty poor as a phone, but I wish I'd bought three of them.

  • Guys which Android phone will be best between $100- $150. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Easily unlocked.

Going to buy, unlock, root and install CM7.

Then use it as a BACKUP!! phone and for international calls.

Thanks OP. Was about to buy online for $80 + $12 shipping an hour ago.

    • How can it be easily unlocked?

        From Whirlpool forums:

Visit this site, http://www.jictechnology.co.uk/calculator/ and choose ZTE from the 1st drop down, then ZTE X850 from the 2nd drop down. Selecting ZTE Racer did not work for any of us, so don't bother with that.
Put in your IMEI as it is on your phones packaging (BOX) or the phone it self (under battery). rather than that you get from *#06# as the end digits on the 2 are different and the one which worked for us was the 15 digit on the box, rather than the 16 digit -1 on the phone's ROM

  • This one doesnt have tether option ?

    • +1

Its an android. Flash CM7 on it and you will get tethering.

Huwei X3 is very good at $79, close spec comparing with LG Optimus one, only thing is 256mb Memory but the LG price is $100, for the cost of iphone $20 might be nothing but in the low end market $20 is a big difference.
