20x Solar LED Garden Lights $20 + Delivery(Max $15)/SYD/BRI/MEL Pickup Available

410

Previously run for ~$45, these lights have been targeted for rapid sale to make room in the warehouse.

Specs that are available to me are:
1W LED light
AAA NiCD battery (EDIT #4: Originally listed as NiMH. Incorrect)
Stainless steel exterior

I have these in my own garden, and they aren't super bright but provide a nice glow in the garden especially if you like to eat dinner outside. This will be part of the BiG BUY today but am posting early because I need to hit the F5 hammer trying to buy pre-sale Radiohead tickets. Adios!

EDIT: This deal runs until we run out of stock. Ignore the timer on the left :)
EDIT #2: Scientific size chart http://i.imgur.com/TbwJV.jpg
EDIT #3: Each light includes said AAA NiMH battery

    Quick! 15 minutes left!

    • Whoops! Didn't think about the clock. Updated description, deal runs until stock is gone

    Are they durable?

    • +11

What are you expecting to put them through? I wouldn't say they'll be useful for stabbing vampires but stabbing the ground they'll be fine

      • +3

I'm sure it would be to tough to stab dracula but do you reckon it'll work fine for stabbing sparkly gay vampires?

        • +11

Sparkly gay vampires actually love solar technology. They'll probably thank you

        • +6

Still a better love story than twilight.

        • +5

          Awesome rep correspondence.

      • They would need to be made out of timber to kill a vampire ;)

I bought 20 for my garden and after six months, there are two still functioning. These are poorly designed and not meant to be kept outdoors as it collects condensation, the clear plastic clouds over, the stainless steel rusts, the plastic points are fragile and often break. For the price you can afford to take a chance but if you want something to last, get something else.

Hi Hugh, sorry to hear you've had a poor experience. We've only been selling ours since December, and as mentioned I have them myself (since they came in in November. I'll snap a photo when I get home to show their condition, but haven't noticed any issues so far.

I guess it depends on your circumstances. And I'll definitely say the plastic points on these aren't fragile. I bashed them quite solidly into the ground (quite rocky) with no issues except me foolishly bashing so hard that I also slammed my hand into the ground.

If anybody who purchases feels like the product is unacceptable we will provide a refund.

        Thanks for your feedback!

These look exactly like the $2 ones that Coles were selling 9 months ago. I bought 8 and all are still working and they just sit out in the elements every day.
They do look a bit cheap and flimsy but seem to work well, especially for $2

    • +1

No, these are very poor. Look exactly like a pair I bought from Cheap as Chips last year ($2ea). They worked, but the light is provided by only one LED. The battery failed after a few months in each unit.

The only nice thing about them was the instruction manual, which was written in very clear English with no spelling or grammar mistakes. Quite a shock for a product this cheap.

"These light feature AAA NiMH battery"
Does this mean it comes with the batteries for 20 lights?

"This will be part of the BiG BUY today but am posting early because I need to hit the F5 hammer trying to buy pre-sale Radiohead tickets. Adios!"

I don't think it ends soon.

yes i believe. i saw and checked this kind of things at bunning last week.
dont worry if you miss this bunning has alot of varieties, and similar prices.

edit: i think this one is cheaper than bunning. i bought it hahahaha
        the closest i can find:
        http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_light-solar-path…
which is 20 light for $39

      • +1

        I made it!

    • Yes. Each light has a battery, all you need to do to get them cracking is flick the switch on each one

      • +1

        Thanks.. Bought one pack.. ^_^

Hahaha, the time remaining changed to 23hrs 59min 59sec. :)

    • Yeah, the BiG BUY clock. This is a separate thing, generally the deals end or are adjusted after 24 hours, this particular deal will run until the stock is gone :)

  • Can I walk into the Loganholme store and pay cash for these before they sell out or do I have ti go thru the website ?

I will personally guarantee a box of lights for 1337 Skippy

      • Huh? 1337?

        • +11

My apologies Skip, I'd assumed you were as nerdy as I am. There is still a box of lights waiting for you, no 13375p33k required

  • I got my Radiohead tix, and I got my solar lights!

    • +1

Damn! I'm still waiting on Brisbane tix…

      • +1

They disappeared in less than a minute. Good luck.

        • Thanks. The QLD law against scalping might extend it out to 1.5 minutes. Here's hoping

    • +1

      GOT MINE TOOOOOOOOO :> :>

      • +3

ME TOOOOOOO! I got 3 bonus fiancée points for this purchase

  • Hi Rep, I just put an order in for pickup, noticed it requires photo ID for pickup. How do I get my wife to pick it up when it was ordered under my name? Maybe photocopy of my drivers license?

    • +1

Hi Jazzy, we aren't ridiculously strict, as long as she has details of the order (name, order number etc) then she'll be fine

      • Hi Rep I am living in the north side of Brisbane. Will probabaly go down to the northside once eveny two weeks. Is there any restriction in terms of the picking up time frame?

        • Hi Sorga, there's no real restriction in terms of pickup time frame. We will contact you if it goes over a few weeks generally

  • +1

Where is pick up in bris?

    • Hi asa, it's not technically Brisbane, it's Loganholme. But considering that against the traffic we're 20 minutes from the CBD it's not so bad. 3892 Pacific Highway Loganholme

  • +4

Tempted. And I dun even have a garden…

    • +3

      Patio, verandah, flowerpots?

It's the Ozbargain spirit getting to me…

      Must… resist… needless… purchases…

  • +4

I live close to the airport. I could buy 2 packs and create a fake runway with these, just to annoy the pilots :)

    • +3

You may be overestimating their brightness. But I like your style

  • +1

This would make a great torch for going to the loo at night. Just keep one on your bedside table, flick the switch and carry it into the toilet with you… gives you something to hold with the other hand too lol

    • +4

Unless you think the sun shines out of your… well you might have problems charging them ;P

      • +1

Funniest comment of the year! Lol couldn't stop laughing.

  • +2

Just ordered 2 boxes, I plan to go nuts around my pool area!!

BTW, great rep responses as well, good to see.

  • My neighbour has got a few of these. I think the only area that lights up and you can see at night is the bulb.

    • +1

As mentioned in the initial post, these provide an ambient glow rather than illuminating the entire garden. Thanks for cementing this for everyone :)

      • Haha ordered anyway in my brief eureka OzBargain moment! Bring it on you wicked neighbour.

  • Got one. Haven't seen the sun in Sydney for a while and since winter is coming up, this may not be the best purchase but OZB tempted me into one.

    • +5

Even a day of cloudy weather will get a few hours out of them, which is all you really need unless you're up at 2am looking at your garden. Which you're completely entitled to do. No judgement.

  • I was at this store in Auburn just couple weeks ago and thought I saw it at this special price back then??

    • Hi Xeon, the price adjustment was only put into the system (by me) in the last 48 hours or so in preparation for the BiG BUY. Not saying it's not possible… but it shouldn't have been priced at $20 before yesterday!

  • +2

Used to always steal these from front yards when I was younger.

    • +1

that's the bargaining spirit (: nothing beats free (:
lol, naughty… wait to the police come knocking on your door

  • 1) Can the LED bulb be changed?
    2) Anyone have any idea on how much 2W LED bulbs are?

    • +2

You will never need to change the LED. It's the cheap NiCd battery that will fail after a few dozen cycles. A 2W LED light bulb purchased in small quantities is almost surely going to cost more than $2.

The description is not accurate. The photo clearly shows a box stating a NiCD battery is contained within, not a NiMH as stated in the description.

  • could sell the AAA NiMH batteries and make a profit :) cheaper than buying them..

  • Is this worth it for 30 bucks? (20 + 10 postage) Not sure I need them…

  • They don't last, the contacts go etc if you're serious about being green you'd just go for 12v led garden lights like I got from bunnings good price but

  • Got one box of those lights from this deal. Bad lights. Used 7 of them. 1 was faulty from the beginning, other 6 lasted a week. :(

    Shame on you, Harvey Norman!

    • Hi! Sorry to hear this, it's definitely not our intention to sell faulty products. Would you prefer replacements or a refund?

      • That sucks. I plan to pick mine up this weekend, those babies will undergo some intense testing or I would go for a refund as well.

        • Intense testing? You realise I was kidding about the vampires right?

        • I take anything vampire related very seriously.

        • … Touché. I'm more of a zombie guy

  • Refund is preferable.

    • Can I get you to drop a line from the contact page on the Harvey Norman BiG BUYS site? I'll get customer service to pick it up and resolve it for you. http://www.harveynormanbigbuys.com.au/ContactUs.aspx

      • There are no numbers mentioned on that page. I have entered a complaint with my order number ending in 7013. Hope to hear from you guys. Email me back to get my mobile number or send a name/number for me to contact. Thanks.

        • Sorry when I say "drop a line" I mean send an email. Chris from customer service should be in contact with you soon to arrange your refund

  • After having them for a week - I haven't seen 5 of them working yet, another 5 have a battery life of about an hour and the rest go on for about 2-3 max. So by 9, it's pitch dark. Not happy Jan, out of pocket by $20!
