        • Used my Referral credit to get Beat sabre then found out it is one of the few games that isnt available for APP sharing. My kids need to log on as me to play it which is annoying.

Bought Space pirate trainer today as apparently an major update is coming out in a few days and price will go up by $10. If you already have it update will be free. Its $22 currently

          • @Squeezy: Yes, Beat Sabre is the Wii sports of VR! They know not to let things like that be transferrable haha.

I'll check out space pirate trainer. From my looking into subreddits and youtube videos this is the list of games I want to check-out (not in any particular order):

            Jurassic World - Oculus Store
            Iron Man VR -
            Spiderman VR - Free (PCVR)
            Vader Immortal
            Beat Saber
            Pavlov VR - PCVR
Walking Dead Saints and Sinners - Both?
            Boneworks
            Half Life Alyx - PCVR

          • @Squeezy: That sucks, Beat Saber is now owned by Facebook too. Do they indicate which titles support sharing before you buy?

BTW, in case you need it in future the refund policy is 14 days with less than 2 hours play time.

The new version of SPT will include arcade multiplayer and the new arena mode which looks awesome, but needs a 10mt X 10mt play space to be able to use. More details

  • Ordered direct from Oculus and it arrived a few days early. Charging it up

One tip, unless you'll be playing it every day (maybe while it's new you will) or leaving it on charge when not in use (not the best idea) do a full shutdown when finished playing (long press power button) and unplug once recharged.

It's quick to boot up anyway, stops the battery going flat while in standby (I turned off auto wake detection as kept triggering by accident when not using too) and seems to need a reboot every now and again anyway to keep everything running properly.

Anyone wanna hit me with their referer code so we can get some sweet store credit?

  • Anyone here who lives in Sydney and ordered from Oculus have their parcel stuck in the FedEx Enfield depot? They (FedEx) say they cannot provide any updates on ETA.

    • Australia post is so slow in NSW atm. I normally get packages from Sydney in 1-2 days but the last few weeks it has been more like 2 weeks delivery time. I assume fedex is having the same problems.

    • Multiple couriers have depots closed at the moment, for obvious reasons - once the staff can return to work after their 14 day isolation, then things will start moving again until the next case attends the depot.
Not much you can do except wait 👍

  • Is this one of those sets that needs facebook to login?

  • Does anyone else have issues when playing games through AirLink? I keep thinking I've got the right order in which to do things and then all of a sudden it just won't want to work. I generally start the Oculus app and enable Air Link (Settings->Beta) then fire up the OQ2, which then generally shows me that my computer is available so I click on the quick setting thing and connect to it. I then launch Steam VR on the OQ2, then run Pistol Whip from the PC (as opposed to from the OQ2) and it generally works. If I vary from this then it usually doesn't want to work.

Anyone have a better way of doing this?

    • It is still considered experimental and is a bit of a PITA sometimes. I still prefer using Virtual Desktop for now.

The most annoying thing I found was if you remove your headset, it drops the Air Link.

Kids had been wanting to see Minecraft in VR which won't work with Virtual Desktop being a UWP, (previously by cable only) so that was fun, set everything up, hand the headset over and it's back at the Quest home screen (and Minecraft then needed to be killed at PC and started all again, as wouldn't work in Air Link after reconnection.)

Hopefully they get it as easy to use (and reliable) as Virtual Desktop eventually.

      • Another thing I've also noticed is that from time to time "straight ahead" will change and the reset view option (holding down the Oculus button) won't do anything at all, when I'm playing pistol whip: I find the only way around this is to redraw the guardian area as I play in a rectangular area and don't want to have to play facing a different direction.

        • Reminded me of another reason I haven't used Air Link much, the black box that would appear right in front of your face for some reason.. not sure if they've fixed that in more recent firmware.

The guardian has been giving me the sh!ts lately too. When I first got it, it was great. I had guardians set up in a couple of rooms, and wherever I started it would recognise and away I'd go. Now every time I start I have to create the guardian again.

          • @bamzero: Haven't seen a black box appear in front of me

            • @RichardMelbourne: Reckon my issues probably stem from when I disabled the telemetry apps on the old firmware. They put a stop to that in newer firmwares, and supposedly firmware upgrades would enable it again but mine are still listed as disabled.

There is a disabled one called com.oculus.appsafety that I think is causing com.facebook.spatial_persistence to crash, being the cause of my guardian not being remembered. Wouldn't be surprised if the box I saw over Air Link was a dialogue box of something crashing, but missing the text and buttons.

Unfortunately since the telemetry apps are protected packages now, I can't even re-enable them. Factory reset would the only option but I'd lose my saves so I guess I'll just have to put up with it for now.

Not relevant to your problem, but you got me thinking about it and kinda makes sense now so cheers :)

  • Currently a promotional $100 Amazon credit with this purchase …… think I may have to pull the trigger

Edit: Is it worth getting the 256GB version or is the 128GB version good for everything?

    • +1

You'll probably get more responses in the current thread - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/664714

Read about the referral credit, it stacks with the amazon credit if you're comfortable doing it.

128GB is heaps, most games are not big, though if you are storing videos on it you may prefer more

Thanks a ton, I'll take your advice and check that thread - also take your advice on the 128GB version as I'd use it for games.

  • Hey folks, I just noticed that Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is today's deal and %18 off at $40.94

    Just snaffled it.

Couldn't be bothered to faff with VPN, so my sincere apologies as I know this is a borderline OzBargain cardinal sin. Please forgive me.
