Not everyday you see a laptop deal from JB Hifi that's actually cheaper than Amazon.

Online stock has run out, now available in-store only.

You may also be interested in a Lenovo 100E Chromebook for $143 (CPU is slightly slower, but retains 4GB RAM and 32GB eMMC drive with an equally disgusting 768p TN panel)

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2021.

Looks like you might be able to get a bunch of extras that could also sweeten the deal. https://www.google.com/chromebook/perks/

Thinking of breaking this apart for digital photo frames :)

ah good find. You get 12 months of Google One 100GB sub, that's pretty nice.

      • +7

Make sure you don't have an active sub, it's not just that you can't use it, it gets activated while not being usable and you lose it if you try to activate with an active sub.

I waited 4 months for mine to finish to find that out, Google refused to replace it despite it being an advertised inclusion on Amazon.

Which is better? The Slim 3 or the 100E which is also on sale?

Having dinner right now so didn't look too closely but looks like 100E has Celeron N4000, the Slim3 has Celeron N4020

      • +1

        Thanks, got the Slim 3.

    • +1

I was doing a similar comparison. From what I can see the notable difference is the Slim's CPU is slightly faster.

Bought one, don't need it, but the price was too good a bargain (especially considering the added perks available). Thanks OP.

    • Anyone actually get this? My order got cancelled due to "no stock" according to the store assistant who called me. I was, however, able to speak with the store manager who offered me their display model for $100. I took the deal. :)

    $119.

    Instant buy.

    No ragrets.

  • Be careful with the Chrome OS end of life dates, but I can't find them for these models.

missed it! :( in store only now.

Seeing 2 USB C ports on this is weird, that's more than a lot of semi decent laptops

An upvote for just having a Chromebook for $119 new before any discounts/gift cards etc

    Backs away slowly

This is impressively cheap, no wonder it sold out so quickly! Perhaps they're making way for Tremont / Gracemont? Maybe even AMD Monet.

  • I rather not say…..

Great price, but what will be a good use for that? I already have a light laptop. If it is duet it is worth buying as it has touch screen, any convincing argument this is worth buying other than price?

    • I assume use it instead of a heavily locked down google hub.
I was interested in this just to keep in kitchen for baby cam and music (with some old pc speakers) but sold out.

  • Password reset for JB-Hifi site woeful - no email receipt until now… should have checked out without… Ended up with the n4000 model… 1st chromebook for sake of having one - been curious for a long time - assuming low spec but quick storage/ram (for price) and custom OS will be fairly decent for simple browsing/media playback with a good battery life.

Lucky. Was tempted, but I have been abstaining from e-waste.

  • Any stores have stock?

Got the last one at JB Karrinyup WA - believe there is 1 or 2 at Malaga.

    • Mine has been shipped.

    • Sure did.

    • I missed ordering the Slim @$119 so went with the 100E @$143 and just had it cancelled due to no stock.

  • Well built
    Sleek looking
    USB C charging
    Quite snappy

That screen though but it's $119. If you can the tilt right, it's totally acceptable. Definitely not the worse screen I've ever used.

    Fantastic for primary age students.

(Gaems m155 has the worst screen - "shouldn't be for sale" bad)

  • Thanks OP! I checked the link again and it seems like there was some online stock available today. I was able to checkout with $6.99 delivery to my local post office - great stress free option. Great price and while I don't need another laptop I'm sure I'll be able to find a use for this chromebook.
