Is CL18 to CL16 a big performance difference?
Not really, it's more of a thing on intel where you'd want better memory timings for overclocking.
Ryzen obviously has IF and can manage quite well with Micron E die such that it doesn't really offer any substantial benefits.
Also this is mainly an overclocking thing and isn't relevant to non-overclockers. There's plenty of better things to spend money on
Yeah this B-die obsession is kinda ridiculous. The gains really aren't that good, and even for an enthusiast it's not worth it unless it's a small price difference. It's only worth it for competitive overclockers. Micron Rev.E can pull fairly similar results for a chunk cheaper, heck even the abomination that is C-die can do 3800C18 which is more than fine.
if manually ocing yes, if on zen 3 majorly yes. 3800 c14 oc would be desireable and easily achievable.
on intel yes although idk anything about intel ram oc.
its less about cl18 to cl16 more about what ram ic is in them.
this is an insane price. I paid $1100 when the 3950x came out for a 64GB kit of this (basically 2 of these kits). That is a hell of a price drop in a couple of years
