Hahaha upvote for not touching brain comment

    • +1

100% this. I've tried loads of others before and they go so far into the ear that I'm unsure I actually have anything where my brain should be at all.

The Samsung ones are really decent quality and noise cancelling is good too.

Same price at Amazon AU Delivered

  • +2

If they don’t touch your brains, they would drop off easy?

    • +10

Actually stay in really well. It's very odd.
It feels like they're going to just fall out (like the sensation you get when your in-ears are going to) but then they just don't. Gotta get used to them but the fit is solid IMO once you've gotten used to it.

    • +2

These have been the most secure ear buds for me.

  • +1

I've been looking out for a pair of TW headphones that I can wear around the office without needing to take out to have a conversation. Can anyone advise if these are the go, or does the open design risk too much sound leakage when playing tunes? I'm running off an S21

    • Apparently the Sony mark 4 is the bomb for conversation mode.

    • I've recently got these for in the office as having in ear ones on all day isn't very comfortable. Sound leakage is definitely a point to keep in mind if you want to blast your music. I haven't tested mine in the office due to lockdown though

    • +1

I have both this and the Galaxy Buds+, this is good for those passive noise that you can hear besides your music, but you'll have to take them out if you want to have a conversation with someone. They also have ANC which is sufficient for daily commute and blocking out the general office noise. The galaxy buds+ on the other hand blocks out more noise passively because it forms a seal inside your ear canal, it doesn't have ANC though but it's pretty good at blocking out the general day to day noise also. What the buds+ have is the pass through mode which turns the external mic on and let you hear the outside world, you won't have to take them out if you want to have a chat with someone in the office. They both sound pretty good to me but I think the buds live edges out slightly with sound quality but it's open design so the edge is really slim.

      • FYI, buds live has transparency mode also through labs.

    • Dunno about sound leakage but these have been super good for extended use/comfort.

At first they hurt like a [profanity] but once I got worked out how to wear them properly and got used to them I could wear them forever basically. Unlike other in ears or headphones which eventually start hurting.

But tbh initially these were so painful I was worried I'd never get used to or use them.

    • +2

I can have a conversation without taking them out. They are also great for long wear times, comfortable.

    • Thanks team, I have the OG galaxy buds but the ambient sound features never did it for me. I couldn't tell how loud I was speaking coz of the tight seal and the mics couldn't replicate sounds around me particularlly well. Has this gotten any better with the buds+? I've found that both airpod models - even with the pro's seal - do pretty well on this front but I wanna stay away given price / sound quality / different OS

    • +1

      Office? What's that?

    • +1

Airpods pro I dont have to stick them inside ear; really great ambient/transparency mode very natural sounding; ANC and soundstage are also good; they are very light and i wear them when conversing; My voice when I speak with them on is very very close to natural

  • when can the Galaxy buds 2 be pre-ordered? in other countries they made good deals for pre-order

  • +2

I absolutely love these, the ones that are spose to go into your canal just fall out for me and these sit nicely before that. Claimed for my telstra plus points and 99$. Only bad thing is the rubber lining broke and has to be replaced.

    • +14

but then you have to use kogan

    • +1

      Price match Kogan @ Officeworks
      To get them for $123.5!

      • +1

Can't price match the Kogan pair of Samsung buds live mentioned which are $130.

Heybattery seller on Kogan is from overseas and Officeworks don't price grey imported items.

      • Buy from jbhifi for $150, pay with zip and get $30 back which brings total to $119

  • These are great, but I can't get the song skipping work as well as in my airpods.

If you find airpods coming off your ears every few minutes like mine these might prove a better fit.

    • +1

Hot tip w AirPods: turn them upside down and swap sides. Excellent for exercise.

      • Got to try that :)

      • Hard to see how would that help, as bit that goes into your ear appears symmetrical around horizontal axis

  • +1

I love this headphone… Especially when exercising..

  • +4

These are great for comfort and sound quality. And if you have a Samsung phone the pairing process is great too.

    • +2

If you also have other Samsung devices like a tablet it automatically switches connections between them based on what you're using at the time and what you're doing on them.

      • Copied that from Apple AirPods I see lol

  • Anyone know of these are any good (comfortable) when sleeping on your side?

    • +2

Better than others but not really..
If you can alleviate pressure around your ear it'll be fine, but you'll find that your concha will start to get really sore from the plastic pressing into it with the weight of your head.

Maybe if you do it enough you can condition yourself to the pain.

    • I can use them pretty comfortably lying on my side in bed. I haven't tried sleeping, but I suppose it should be possible.

    • +2

bought these specifically for sleeping. i'm a big side sleeper, and have used airpods, the galaxy buds+ and these lives. these lives are definitely the best for side sleeping. if you lay on your side, you'll definitely feel these pushing into your ear a bit more and it's not really comfortable, but it's a hell of a lot better than the other ones. perhaps the best buds for sleeping on your side by far. my trick is: if i sleep on my side with my left ear down on the pillow, i put in just one bud on my right ear. if i happen to roll over in the middle of the night and end up on my other side with the bud pressing into my ear, it's not painful, but it's also not hugely uncomfortable.

but as far as these go, they're definitely the most recessed profile of any buds ive tried and are the best for sleeping. at this price, they're definitely great for a pair of sleeping buds that you can also use while out and about.

    • I've been using headphones to bed for years but I've finally transitioned to putting a spare phone under my pillow at very low volume. The sound passed through the pillow nicely and my partner can't hear it at all.

  • +1

FYI they have a common issue of the microphone not working for those looking to use them with a Windows 10 laptop. Still hasn't been resolved by Samsung (great as a portable pair to use with the phone though)

    • +1

My microphone only works intermittently even on Android. It's really annoying because they are great otherwise.

  • I got Kogan buds plus for $109 last sale. Seems like they are still going for $122 so if you don't mind using Kogan it's an alternative. I was really happy with them, but it's buy at your own risk.

For what it's worth, I've had one of my Samsung buds die on me just after a year. Would not purchase again. YMMV. Currently waiting on stock of the Sony WF-1000XM4 to replace.

    • +4

Claimed warranty? Electronics fail. My xm4 died in the first week, I’m not going to write off Sony though.

      • AFAIK the warranty is only 12 months

        • +1

That's not a hard limit. It's not reasonable for them to fail, and you will be successful getting them fixed or replaced via DFT if Samsung refuse to fix

        • +3

If you bought Australian model, it’s 2 years warranty

          • +1

@onlinepred: It legit says on their website the warranty one year. And it also says one year on JB Hi-Fi's website.

            • @PlaneProof: When i bought the original Galaxy buds in 2019 and galaxy buds plus in 2020 I remember both said 2 years warranty. Looks like Samsung has chickened out and now reduced the warranty to just 1 year.

        • +1

Warranty is whatever the Australian Consumer Law says it is, companies don't get to dictate their warranty period in Australia unless it exceeds what is reasonable.

In fact, Samsung is pretty much irrelevant here. It's the store that has to refund or replace it.

For most electronics over $100 18-24 months is pretty standard, and it goes up with the price. Just ask for a return, quote the ACL, and 99% of the time they will give you your remedy.

  • waiting for buds 2 I think

  • Purchase $1 extra(may be delivery) and use zip pay to make payment to receive $30 cashback.

  • This vs razer hammerhead true wireless vs airpods?

    • +1

Haven’t tried razer. Airpods are comfier for long listening sessions, otherwise buds live have better sound isolation therefore better sound, great mics for calls, some noise cancellation.

    • buds live is a varied fit. some may have it fit great some may not.

hammerhead and airpods fit almost exactly the same. I prefer hammerheads in terms of sound vs airpods, but they have shorter battery life.

Buds live sound the best, if you can get them to seal well

  • Are these good for running / exercise? i.e. will they fit snugly in the ear upon movement / impact?

    • In my experience and my ear shape, they stay better than nearly every cheapo tws I’ve tried, but not as good as AirPods. I adjusted them a few times as I felt they were getting loose, but never fell out. You can buy wings to help them stay in your ear. Won’t be as good as galaxy buds +

  • I bought some of these BNIB second-hand, but I must have weird-shaped ears as they start to hurt after a while. I kind of wish I bought them new so I could return them.

  • These buds are great for exercise and listening to whilst side sleeping in bed. Protrude less than the Galaxy Buds

  • Touching the brain? You mean like Etymotic ER4?

  • They hurt my ear so badly , can’t put them in for more than 15 minutes, just letting people know that it might not be for every one.

    • +1

That used to be the case for me, we're talking after 5 minutes my ears are aching/hurting so much. Normally I can wear in-ears for like 45 mins before my ears start to ache so I was pretty disappointed and thought I'd never be able to wear these.

It's super important you put these in properly, which means inserting them in and then twisting the top forwards. It's much easier to watch a video of how to put them in correctly.

      • Don't jam them in hard
      • Twist the top as far forward as it will go while still being secure

If your ears hurt, take them out and have a rest, but after I worked out how to do this and a bit of conditioning I can easily wear them for 6+ hours basically no pain.

  • +2

Went to Officeworks and they price matched! thank you :D

  • +1

This one or pixel buds A?

    • +1

I'm on the same boat… I like the looks of pixel buds but I also want good sound haha.

      • I got this 10% off voucher and 25$ voucher from before, don't know if they will stack!

  • These are terrible for noise-removal but a god send for working from home.
I've used them non-stop for phone calls during the day, music during my 1hr exercise and relaxing in bed after it all.

    • It's strange, as for me, when inserted correctly, they create an ok seal, and then with noise cancelling on it's actually pretty effective. Obviously not as good as in ear canal buds with rubber seal.

      • Don't get me wrong, I use the noise cancelling but it will do very little compared to what normal people imagine as noise cancelling.
I'd say the standard galaxy buds blocked out more noise than the buds live with their active noise cancelling.

        • Got these today and I like them but the anc does 0. I got them for calls and meetings.

Do not buy these if you need some anc

  • Dick Smith has these for $129… Am I missing something ??
